- This message was preached December 31, 1876 only two days after the death of hymn writer P.P. Bliss at Ashtabula, Ohio. Mr. Bliss wrote such hymns as Wonderful Words of Life, Once For All, Almost Persuaded, Hallelujah What A Savior, Let The Lower Lights Be Burning, Dare To Be A Daniel and the music to It Is Well With My Soul.
We are in a time. Were as the people in the middle east are coming to christ Jesus as there savior and Lord. We are so close to Our Lord Jesus return.

I find it interesting how a sermon from far more than a century ago is so fitting today. In 2023 our greatest failure as believers is the sin of ommission. We were trained by society to not be offensive and we fell for it. We too are warned.

1) 14 years earlier, on New Year's Eve 1862, his cousin Fred died at Stones River in the war;
2) 5 years earlier, in 1871, he had failed to make this call to a congregation on the eve of the Chicago Fire;
3) That very year, 1876, his own brother Sam had died after coming to Christ after a lifetime of godlessness.
