We break down general revelation, special revelation, and why this doctrine (you might not have even heard of) matters profoundly for the Christian’s life.
God is only concerned with upliftment, spiritual progress, healing and the achievement of the Era of Love and Peace. God only longs to enable us to: grow, create, be nourished and nourish others, to be healed and to heal others, to educate and educate others, to protect and protect others, to fulfill our needs and for us to fulfill the needs of others-all within a clear system of law and order. This is GOD in action.
I have only just started watching these explainers and I hope that if I am called to lead a church (I think I am) that there will be similar content - I think that Village Church is extremely right in shutting the door to the demonic opportunity that comes from lack of biblical literacy. But can I make one criticism - you shouldn't have said here that "Increasing our knowledge of the Bible increases our knowledge of God". That's not necessarily the case - the Pharisees studied the scriptures but they did not come to Jesus to have life (John 5:39). What you should have said is "We cannot have increased knowledge of God without studying the scriptures". I know that Village Church is continuationist but I still wonder whether you have got to the heart of what it really means to be a Holy Spirit Christian. One fundamental is that no individual Christian should consider themselves to "know" something until God has manifested himself through that truth experientially - the truth isn't an idea - it's a person - and he wishes to be known in our spirits, minds and hearts. We are supposed to test the truth of scripture RELATIONALLY - we should ask - is what I am being taught here consistent with what God has previously testified to me personally and experientially? (And should what I learn here lead me to re-interpret my experience?). I would love to preach this message at Village Church. I am fifty-five years old - as far as I can remember I have never said that that I wish I could preach a particular message in someone's church - but let this be the first time. I have heard what you have taught about the place of the Spirit in faith and I don't believe that you have yet grasped the key thing - that the Holy Spirit is our teacher and the Word is his agent - which means that until the Holy Spirit has taught us something (and since the word of God is the character and presence of Jesus we don't know it until we know it relationally) we don't know it at all. And walking in the Spirit is more than listening to God's still small voice - it's the opposite of walking in the flesh. God bless The Village Church.
No one knows the day or hour of the Lord. It will come like a thief to those who are in darkness. Because if the owner of that house had known, he would have kept watch and would not let his house to be broken into. Then who is the wise and faithful servant whom God entrusted his other servants in his house to gibe them food at the proper time? He knows when is the right time to reveal heavy information or solid food, that is, when they are able to bite or digest solid foods already. He has much more to say to them more than they can bear at that time but when the Spirit comes on them, all the things of Jesus will be taken and revealed to them. Thus, at that time, the Son will be exalted as the on exalted the Father. All the things of the Father are the Son's possession. It was not for the weak apostles to know the secrets of God but after they were empowered, Paul testified, "No one knows the things which God has prepared in advance for those who love him, but he revealed them to us by his Spirit for he is the mark that we received, not the one which is from the world, so that we may understand the things he has freely given us. For who among mm knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of man that is in him? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Therefore, men should regard us as those who are co-servants of Christ and his co-trustees of God's secrets." They are one with the Lord Jesus and comprised the one man appointed by God to judge us in these latter times in perfect justice and fairness and this man knows the right time to reveal us the deep secrets of God.
4:04 Seriously? The biggest problem with the bible is that it’s insufficient and unclear, and it being “self-authenticating” means in the simplest terms “I’m right because I say so”.
Thus says The Lord: Did you think My wrath would tarry forever? Did you think My judgment sleeps? Are My eyes closed to all these atrocities committed upon the earth, day and night without ceasing?! Are My ears also stopped from hearing? Lo, I have seen and I have heard!... My face draws near to this earth, My eyes are filled with fire and fury! My forehead wrinkles and is set hard against you, O inhabitants of the earth, for it is time! It is time to shake the cities of men by measure, and to bring up wrath from beneath! City by city shall be punished, one here and another there! Behold, it shall come upon them suddenly, and men shall fear, and with great perplexity shall their hearts fail; a great trembling shall now come upon all people!... THE TERROR OF THE LORD IS AT HAND! It shall come in swiftly, and you shall not know from where it shall come! It shall come upon city after city without warning, for I have caused the earth to become angry! Lo, the depths of the earth tremble at My nearness, and soon this planet shall rage!... It shall rage against you, O deceitful generation! It shall devour and consume this generation, scouring from the earth all man has made! The Scriptures do not lie! And My prophets speak, yet the people refuse to hear; they will not listen! Even My own people will not believe! Yet their belief is not at all required. For My will is set and can in no wise be turned back.
The pharisees shout, "These are the ways of the LORD!" Our stature precedes us and our proclomation proves us! Let us show you a secret thing." Yet their heart is not of the LORD, nor be thier ways. They scurry to and fro seeking the knowledge of men teaching it as the ways of God. They confound the people with the elegance of double speak; convincing men that what is Holy is not necessary, and the power of slavation is no longer dictated of God, but of themselves. Like snake oil merchants, do they lure the hungry to starvation with the promises of abundance. Woe to those who seek the faith of the LORD by way of men. Faith comes by hearing and hearing comes from the Word of the LORD.
The unrighteous say in thier mouth by way of self righteousness, "We do not want your truth! We pay much to our pophets to give us these lies. Give us that which we demand and not of what The Lord commands! For now we can trample our wicked dances upon the blood of righteousness in freedom! No more do ye have the right to uphold that old way unto us! Speak our tongue and dance our dance, lest ye be a blasphemer of our new religeon. For our numbers are many, and in solitude and praise will our traditions abolish the written grieviance our hearts reject. Though He is the Author of religeon, it now belongs to us to cultivate as we deem. Go away ye demon, and impose ye not upon our made up light! For we shall bombard thee with the arrows of our hypocracy, that ye may be slandard of our own holy way."
I don't get it how has this god revealed itself when its people who wrote all that down? You don't have anything written down by this god itself or have any demonstration of its actually power being displayed other than you just claim X is created by God. You don't really have anything that's why its all based on faith.
Yes the prophets physically wrote the words but how do you think they knew what to write? God told them hence why the scripture is God's breath not God's hand 🙂. Therefore if God breathed the words to write. God is the Author. Wouldn't you say someone without hands having someone else type up a book they made, still the author of said book? And yes this is all about faith because there will be times when we won't understand what God wants and we just have to trust his plan for us (individually). Walking by faith and not by sight. However, for some that isn't enough. But their unbelief is not God's fault.
@@tiahna7800 Yeah, I don't buy into this crap that a god only speaks to one person and not to everyone else at once. The only advancement mankind ever makes is when we actually investigate and research not pretend like we're speaking with some invisible god or spirit.
General revelation is not a valid approach in science. You cannot just assume a conclusion and accept that as proof that something is true. Such as look at nature. It's so complicated that it must have had a designer that designed everything, and that designer is God. By assuming the conclusion you eliminate all other possible explanations. And, you can't determine anything is true by assuming the conclusion.
It's funny how the Almighty God relies on humans to do all the talking and thinking for him. He just remains silent and invisible while humans proselytize and debate over biblical doctrine and argue about His existence. That's so suspicious.
"We believe the Bible is scripture" It is scripture, but that is irrelevant. "Scripture is said to be without error" But there are errors, and just claiming that it is true doesn't make it true. "God makes himself known in Jesus" God makes himself known in Hercules, if you can't refute this without also refuting your own argument, then that point is useless. "God is as Jesus does" So it is ungodly to be married, and godly to chase people out of banks, got it. "In that case you have an idol that needs to be killed" Woah, ok. Not everyone who isn't Jesus needs to be killed. "The Bible is God's way of speaking" I can't respect someone who chooses to communicate through 2000 year old books when they could directly talk to me. "You are being discipled by something" Maybe, but I am still myself. I choose who I follow, and there is no one above criticism for me. I may follow people, but you dogmatically obey something that you can't even demonstrate. "When we study the Bible we find the right conclusions" And yet every sect of Christianity seems to interpret those texts differently. "Isn't that beautiful?" No. It's sickening.
1 Corinthians 2:14 says “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.” You have to accept Jesus into your heart in order to welcome the Spirit of God. Obtaining the Spirit allows for enlightenment and understanding of the truths and promises of the Bible. I think a lot of people misinterpret God and think that he serves us and exists to save humans and that he owes us anything. He doesn't. It's not God's job to directly reveal himself to you on your command. He sent Jesus to bear our sins for us and we are given the choice to believe it and accept his sacrifice, or not. We need to seek him out ourselves. We take our own initiative and willingly take the steps to know him in appreciation and love for all that he's done for us. So God isn't this person who is suppose to cater to what we expect from him. He isn't someone who caters humans in order to gain their loyalty or a new follower. Followers of Christ come to him first, seek his refuge, and bear the his fruits by serving him. God does not serve us. He loves us, does amazing things in our lives and we have the privilege of dwelling in his providence, but it is all ultimately for his own glory.
