  • The concept of ichi-go ichi-e (一期一会), the fact that any moment in life can’t be repeated, really struck me and I’d love to keep that in mind more often in my life! Credits to Maikoya Experiences and Tea Ceremony Ju-An for the tour and the awesome learning experience. Definitely recommend taking a tour if you want to learn more about the history, process and cultural significance! #japan #travelvlog #travel #kyoto

This is truly insightful, reminds me of a saying in Indian/Persian culture of (This Time Will Pass), it’s to remind us that nothing is permanent, neither happiness nor sadness.
I recall the story behind it is there was a king who requested one of his ministers to make a ring for him, and crave a sentence on it that will make him sad if he looked at it when happy, and happy if looked at it while sad. So the minister craved “This Time Will Pass”. Some say the phrase was “This Too Shall Pass”
I think the connection between this and ichi-go ichi-e is the importance of recognizing the importance of time, and every moment should be cherished and lived mindfully as life is too short.
Great vid! I really enjoyed this tea ceremony!

@@roxii7190 What a cool, insightful comment. I’m seeing that Jewish folklore and Persian folklore both have similar origin stories for the phrase, and the stories are so fascinating - thanks for inspiring me to look into it more! Such simple and eye-opening phrases to remember. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
