    I wish Robin would talk more about this product and compare it to others in a brand battle. It’s been incredible for my thick hair without making it look “stringy” with a high hold product. Was so grateful for this video years ago.

    You can mix it with the night rider for extra hold. I get my clients to buy the minis and mix them around a little depending on what kinda hold they want. It gives them all kinds of styles to try:)

    I don't even think it's that expensive. I mean, yes it costs more than an average storebought product, but you need to apply a lot less. A container of Kevin Murphy (no matter which one, I've tried all but the gel one) lasts me way longer than a cheaper brand that claims to have about the same properties.

    I've been using KM Free Hold for about a month now. It's all right. It's easy to style with and I like the feeling it gives your hair. It's barely holding your style though, so it's better to use something stronger on a windy day instead, or in addition to. The smell is a bit too strong for my taste. It has a very sweet vanilla fragrance so some might not find it very manly. But I'm fine with it. It washes off easily and doesn't do anything bad to your hair.

    • @ManForHimself
      @ManForHimself  8 років тому

      Well, it's good for a loose hold, like I have here.
      Smell is amaze!
      Agree about ease of washing. Amazing!

    I love the "Honest Review" concept! In fact, I think you could really make a cool series out of this. What I mean by that is obviously you could do reviews on hair products but why stop there? You should do "honest reviews" on certain pieces of clothing or accessories or even clothing stores! Just my opinion though lol great video as always Robin!

    Although I really enjoy clays, they tend to dry my hair, and since I used oil-based ones, it’s a pain to wash out (even if I can just shampoo, I don’t want to shampoo everyday just so I can get rid of product, especially if it’s for daily use) I wasn’t sure what to do until I found this video. Free Hold is very easy to rinse out, is very easy to use, has a slight gloss, and it has loads of texture! This is now my go-to product because of you and I couldn’t be any happier. Which pre-stylers would you recommend for both volume and texture? And you also said that I should avoid shampoos that smooth? I was actually thinking about getting smooth.again, but now I’m not sure. Gloss Moderne maybe? I can’t thank you enough!

    Might have to try this one or one of the others from Kevin Murphy. They seem to work really well with your hair type, which is great since mine is very similar: fine, but lots of it and it generally does what it's told.

    Might seem like a strange thing, but as a man I don’t really see $35 for a hair product to be expensive. Sure, it’s more than the American crew fiber at CVS, but what people don’t think about is that these aren’t something that you go through fast. This product, as well as others, can last you months, even up to a year. $22 for 6 months - 1 year is a pretty damn good value to me

    It's one of their new product, I am using it at the moment too! Really like it, but the smell to me it's pretty exotic I would say, very relaxing. It's been my go to product. And about the price Kevin Murphy has more volume than Hanz de Fuko. I think if you divide the price by the volume of product you are getting it's pretty much the same , and it lasts you longer. One can last you around half year.

    +Robin James Hello Robin! Have you used the American Crew Grooming Cream and the D:Fi D:struct cream? Those two have been cremes that, after going through so many brands on and off line, have turned out to have a decent amount of hold. I use them as pre stylers for my quiff, and was wondering if this one would be a good prestyler as well! They say their product is a medium hold. I was wondering if you knew how this Kevin Murphy product would compare to those two! Thanks!!!

    This is a light wax product. Hair dont feel very free actually, even if you use a small amount of it. Very oily as well. I expected something more soft with a natural look. It isn't.

    • @acornstairlift
      @acornstairlift 3 роки тому +1

      I’ve been using it on and off for over a year and I’ve had a similar experience (minus the oiliness). I think that the one you and I have is a newer formulation, where they bumped the wax content up a notch. This might have been done to distance this product from their easy rider cream, since that one truly offers a loose hold.

    Hey Robin, so I have a question so if you could reply that'd be great. But here's my question, I feel like I have really hard to manage hair in terms of styling. As a result I can't do a lot of the hairstyles that you do that I would like to do. That being said, would a short hairstyle be easier, or should I grow it out some more? My hairs about 5 inches on top and faded on the sides and back from a half guard to blending it with the scissors. Anybody else's suggestions are welcomed too. Or you could even recommend me maybe a stronger product that I could try.

    This brand is a bit harder to find in stores, and apparently not sold online by Kevin Murphy? I usually only find the overpriced amazon version, or have to drive out to a salon.

    Today I fucked up. I went into the hairdressers and asked for a fade with long top and now I look like a depressed pineapple.
    I didn't know face shape went into consideration...
    Kill me.

    Bumble & bumble:
    Sumotech.
    Semisumo.
    Sumowax.
    Morris Motley.
    And the only ones I haven't tried but am super super curious about are the wax/pastes by Oribe. There is little to no reviews on them--which is why I've yet to purchase them. My hairstylist says they are amazing. But then again people said that about Sponge Wax which was a dud.
