Hi Zamone. Great Courtney reaction as always. What an incredible performance. If you watch the conductor, rather than Courtney (which is hard when she just nailed the song), the conductor sneaks a long peak at Courtney's performance instead of remaining focused on his musicians. The look on his face says it all. The same can be said for the guitarist. Let's be real. If you were on stage, 15 feet away from this magnificent performance, how could you not help but sneak a peak. It's not very often that you get to hear the voice of a lifetime. It was mind boggling hearing her live. Take how great she sounds digitally, multiply it by ten, and that gives some sense of how sensational she sounds live. This was on April 29th. The New York Pops honored Clive Davis with a huge concert at Carnegie Hall. Everyone who is anyone in music was there. Courtney was invited to open the show. She blew off the roof and the doors and brought the entire audience to their feet at Carnegie in a standing ovation with this rip roaring, stage dominating rendition of Janis Joplin's 'Piece of my Heart'. Janis was Clive's first signee. It was unbelievable. Courtney shared the stage with many all time greats tied to Clive like Barry Manilow, Dionne Warwick, John Mellencamp, Busta Rhymes and many more. The New York Pops released this 2+ minute clip of her performance. It now has over two million views on the Pops site (along with 2.6M on TikTok). By far the most views of any video the New York Pops has released since they started posting in 2014. Too bad they didn't release the whole thing, because Courtney's full performance was spectacular. So far it's the only individual performance that the Pops have released from the concert. Kind of says something about how fabulous they thought it was. Latest news on Courtney is that she has just finished recording the original songs for her debut album. They still have to be mixed, and there will be a single or two released before her full album drop, but the day is getting close. The clips she has shared of her album songs have been fabulous. Her album will be epic.

Honestly I would sneak a peak at Courney's performance as well if I was the conductor lol I was wondering recently why I haven't heard from her in a while but I had to realize if she isn't posting then she's most definitely working on music. She's shared the stage with some great artists and being invited to open up the show at Carnegie Hall is an amazing feat. Thank you so much always for your kind words!!

Carnegie Hall is one of the most famous venues in the world. Other commenters have explained the incredible honor and accomplishment of Courtney's invitation to open the Clive Davis tribute in front of the esteemed New York Pops Orchestra. Only this partial video was initially released. Her new album and tour are expected soon.

Thank you! Loved your reaction. Ms. Courtney Hadwin was invited to open the NY Pops orchestra's 41st Annual Birthday Gala last month celebrating Clive Davis' career in music production. He personally invited Ms. Courtney to perform "Piece of My Heart" in rememberance of his discovery and signing of Janis Joplin back in the 1960's. Courtney posted the vid you reacted to of most of that performance on her UA-cam channel. Thankfully, someone else was recording from the balcony, and another channel constructed a more complete mashup vid of her full performance opening the show:

If you haven't heard and seen Janice Joplin performing this song back in the day ('68 or '69), here's a treat for you. Also in NYC, but not so highbrow as the infamous Carnegie Hall, Janis Joplin performing "Piece of My Heart" at Generation Club NYC on 7 April 1968:

Ms. Courtney Hadwin learned her lessons well, studying Ms. Janice Joplin, Ms. Tina Turner, Mr. James Brown, Ms. Etta James, Mr. Otis Redding, Mick Jagger (now Sir Michael Philip Jagger), and so many more greats from the ROOTS of modern music, when all genres got robbed, from black gospel music, the blues, soul, folk, electrified guitar pickups and amps, and the whole birth of Rock'n'Roll. Followed quickly by R&B, and so many more. All reviewed, learned, and reimagined by young Ms. Courtney Hadwin. Our COURTZ! So good to see her getting very public recognition at the heart of NYC's official Arts scene.

Clive Davis has been at top of recording industry for many decades, making the decisions that affect what music the public generally hears, who 'makes it' and who doesn't. See Wikipedia article here for a fairly accurate, as far as I can tell, bio. Certainly matches my old memories over the past two-thirds of a century of music.
Kinda fitting that Ms. Courtney came AS AN INDIE artist after having been signed by Arista back in Dec 2018 without them EVER putting out her debut album of HER music done HER way. She's created it and is releasing it very soon. Took the three weeks right after this event and spent it in recording studio with Mr. Kevin Bowe in Minneapolis to finish the recording, and they then came up with two new songs which _might_ also make it onto this first record album. Or not.
It'll be VERY INTERESTING if we EVER learn the true full story of what happened between then and now to Ms. Courtney. I've heard music industry 'keep quiet' contracts are HARD to break, and pretty draconian in protecting the big companies like the ones Mr. Davis ran.

@@givingin2G4Courtz No doubt, we'll never know the true goings on of that deal. History says, sometimes the producers in charge with the artist don't have the same view point as the artist, even when the artist knows way more about music than the producers do. Producers aren't always hired for their music knowledge, but more like their "What they think sells" knowledge. And some of us know, those thinking outside the box and who are talented are the ones who really know best.
