The Mirror World is so significant in this fight. Both Luffy and Katakuri are reflections of each other. Not just on a Devil fruit power similar but in a much deeper level. Both Luffy and Katakuri reflected off of each other on their respective weaknesses, Luffy in power while Katakuri in his character. This whole fight Katakuri had been doing and saying “I can do what you can do, but better” this entire time Katakuri had been trying to convince himself that the choice he made to build up his fake persona as “The Perfect Man” to protect his family was the right one, because he even saw himself in Luffy. And at the end of the fight, Both Luffy and Katakuri improve Luffy in gaining new strength, and Katakuri, getting up just to fall on his back, breaking the persona he created for himself, handing Luffy the victory.
This fight reminds me why i love One Piece. The drive of the characters, the impactful designs, and just how fluid and hyper kinetic the fights are and how each blow looks like an almost real impact despite powers.

Pradeoo I don’t know why the old animation in One Piece bothers people so much. I’m relatively new to One Piece (just caught up on the series a few months ago and binged watched the entire anime in a few months) but I hardly ever noticed any drops in quality in early One Piece. Probably because I was more invested in the story and the characters than anything else. The most noticeable change in animation and art style for me was when the Wano arc started but that was a huge improvement.

One of my favorite parts of this fight is even in those hits that last for a split second, the animators took the time to show that they coated the area that got hit with Busoshoku, it is incredible attention to detail.
I agree 100procent with this but the only reason I feel this way is Luffy Vs katakuri is way more personal Luffy Vs katakuri is about to men trying their hardest to protect their family and that's why it's so great Luffy Vs kaido is just Luffy taking back wano form kaido we have way less of a connection to the samurai and wano then we do with the straw hats whole cake island was Luffy protecting what he still has left wano was just him helping the samurai get back what is theirs both are amazing arcs but whole cake island is just feels WAY more personal then wano does
my boy katakuri fighting so long for those you love, the ideals of perfection, not able to show weakness or failure in order to protect those you love and move foward, oda has made such a highly relatable villain hes an example of what it means to be a young person with such a high burden of responsibility where your failure is not an option because it would mean a great loss for the people your provinding for in life i was there once, you just have to keep fighting your greatest enemy is your inner self
That ending just brought me the chills. If there's a way to end epic fight with a cliffhanger, what you did is the way I would always recommend. Just the vision, their hits, so close to one another, the hype building up, the song in rhythm, and you just wonder who will hit first. Absolute HYPE!

1:23 is my favorite part, “Even failure is strangely charming” describes the fight perfectly. Katakuri, the man who never loses fights an opponent that never gives up and is full of fire. If you pause at 1:11 you can see him somewhat pleased , and even gave Luffy a chance to him punch right back in the face out of admiration. 1:23

This fight is one of Luffy's toughest challenge against Katakuri. Don't know what fights top this 🤔 besides Doflamingo at Dressrosa. Almost caught up with One Piece, now that I'm at the Wano arc. But this is the best anime of all-time 🙌
