DIY: How To Build and Set Up An Awesome Double 10-gallon Aquarium Stand!

- I had a problem - my rainbow kribs had babies, and they weren't growing very fast. I needed to add aquarium space quickly and cheaply. I built a double 10-gallon stand. Here's how I did it!
Like Fish? Take a look at how I put together my giant African river tank:

Great build Tom! Informative and to the point with an added strength test tip!
Now you have to name every single fish
Ha!!! Best laugh of the day.
so....the entire weight of the top section is supported by EIGHT NAILS? damn. those are strong nails
They are #8 construction screws- they have an 89 pound shear rating. A 10 gallon aquarium with rocks and water weighs about 150 pounds. 89*8 screws is 712 pounds. So I have plenty of of screws based on that calculation. I’d be happy to learn if I’m missing something or making an assumption that’s not valid. But as you saw me sitting in it, I weigh at least twice what the aquarium weighs, and the screws didn’t budge.
That's not how it works my friend. You have nothing to stabilize the legs. The weight should be held by the vertical legs, the rest should just hold it together. You haven't taken into account the quality of the wood, the consistency of the materials, etc. Experimentation is fun but there's a lot on the line there.
@@levibennett5166 I take into account math and engineering, and unless you have numbers for me, I find your comments not helpful, and based on groupthink rather than actual science.
@@levibennett5166 relax. strong construction nails capiche? :D
@@longlee1100 bahaha
Looks great. Enjoy how you picked your fish based on the Kinyxsis.
Thanks MikeyBen! Yep, everything is part of the hingeback story!
Good lord. This is a nightmare waiting to happen.... The weight is supported by 8 screws and there's nothing to handle that shear. One bad bump and it's twisting apart.
Id lower your heater and that's it
Why’s that Malicious? This heater heats to only one temperature and cannot be adjusted.
Once the tanks are in pieces on the ground the heater will be much lower
