@ my old microscope I was using my phone but the one I just got for Christmas came with a camera that connects to my computer so I can take pictures and videos. I think you can buy something similar on the AM scope website?

You can hang a UVB bulb inside the enclosure- just put a few holes in the top of the lid and use zip ties. While you can do it without UVB by using foods that contain vitamin D, if you have a vegetarian tortoise, I’d recommend using UVB. A hot heat lamp is probably not needed, however,

Not needed if you do it my way. He’s lived in this for five years- no UVB, ever! Amazing, eh?

Nope, they were never fertilized, so no baby turtles

In this video they are eating moistened aquatic turtle pellets made by zoo med. I’ve added some dried Moringa leaves for extra nutrition that I purchase from Kapidolo Farms.

Nice- enjoy keeping those reptiles. There are also many adult Russian tortoises in reptile rescues- be sure to check that source as well. Enjoy your tortoises and use them to learn and conserve them and their habitats in the wild. That’s what we can do to give back.

Thanks, I love my tuff stuff tubs. Unfortunately, the Boston ferns did not persist much longer than a year. Dracaenas are what I now use in my tortoise tubs.

My father got Alzheimer's and he got to the point where he quit talking and sat and did nothing all day. My mom and I had to watch him. Until the day he found a tortoise Walking in the backyard. That tortoise brought him out of his shell and I got my dad back. We built him a house and when I went to work he tortoise sat him. I also went to a pet store and bought an even bigger tortoise so he can have a buddy. Those two guys kept my mom company those last years of their lives. If it wasn't for those tortoises my parents last years would have been horrifyingly lonely and quiet. They helped my parents out in the end while I was at work as they entertained them with their goofy ways. They made for great companions during a time of negativity and loss. I owe them one.

Thank you so much for sharing your story Steven. Turtles and tortoises are just amazing creatures that humans seem to relate to, no matter what culture or place in the world it may be.

@twoturtletom my tortoise friends gave all of us some positivity during a time of constant despair. Big guy, little guy and tink (I'm not the most creative at naming pets) saved our mental health as watching my parents circle the drain was horrifying to me. The worst years of my life would have been impossible without the 3 guys. Tink was a female guy.

How is this animal cruelty ?? He has a large tank for him, looks to be triple his size, and is being taken care of. If you are referring to him not being in the wild or in a pond, well he’s much safer where he is away from predators and he could also be a captive bred. You can clearly see in the video that that turtle loves his owner as he is right in front of the glass wanting food and attention, if he was being mistreated he wouldn’t do this, so please don’t just assume stuff and watch his channel to see if it’s cruelty or not.

@ Any poultry parasites are specific to poultry. There is little chance, if any, of there being parasites in birds that are grown up given tons of medicines. Bottom line, the benefits of fresh animal protein sparingly outweigh any of the risks, in my experience.
