  • Rishi Sunak's Bill to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda has been condemned as a “breach of international law” by human rights groups.
The bill passed late on Monday night after hours of back and forth between the House of Commons and the Lords, who tried to block the motion.
Charity Freedom from Torture, alongside Amnesty International and Liberty, criticised the government for ignoring the findings of the Supreme Court, which ruled the policy was unlawful in November.
The groups said the Bill poses “a significant threat to the rule of law” by undermining what protects people from an abuse of power by the state, and described Parliament as a “crime scene”.

Just a ploy by the PM to make it look as if he is taking action when in reality he is doing nothing.

100,000s of pounds to deport asylum seekers when temporary residency could be given and they’d become taxpayers is crazy.

This feels like a massive distraction to bigger issues going on in the UK.
I’d hate to seethe amount of tax payers money wasted on this.

£540 million for 300 refugees. £1.8 million per refugee. You could build two state of the art hospitals for that price that could serve maybe ~100,000 people per year each.

Apologists apologise … all our problems are caused by migration , legal and illegal . NHS waiting lists, large school class sizes, parts of our cities and towns becoming ghettos .

@@jimcourt9164 laughable comment showing total lack of intelligence. NHS waiting lists cannot be because of legal asylum seekers (what you call "illegals"), because the numbers each year are too low to have an impact as they are a drop in the ocean compared to the number of people the NHS serves. Additionally a LARGE proportion of NHS staff are immigrants (legal), without which the service woudl collapse. Finally net migration has risen dramatically post Brexit because young people cannot move to EU for work and retirees cannot retire to the EU as easily due to loss of freedom of movement. The state of the UK economy and society is entirely due to corruption crony capitalism and the impact of Brexit leaving the UK economy permanently weaker by 5% or so cutting into tax revenues available for public services. Hate only destroys you, from within. Finally Brexit has caused the "small boats" problem, because now asylum seekers get a second chance to apply in the UK if they fail to get asylum status in the EU whereas before Brexit that was not possible and they could immediately b repatriated to France. Your Brexit vote caused a massive rise in net migration (young and old cannot leave) and inability to return asylum seekers to France which was possibel before.
