- On September 3, the Dakota Access pipeline company attacked Native Americans with dogs and pepper spray as they protested against the $3.8 billion pipeline's construction. If completed, the pipeline would carry about 500,000 barrels of crude per day from North Dakota’s Bakken oilfield to Illinois. The project has faced months of resistance from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and members of nearly 100 more tribes from across the U.S. and Canada.

You are repeating the single biggest misconception of this Bakken Pipeline project. Not 1 single foot of the pipeline is being built on Native American land. The Standing Rock Sioux tribe is protesting because its "near" their land. Its not on their land.

While I am not on the side of the pipeline or anything. Dont know much about it. I do not get the impression the protestors have a strong case in the manner you insinuate.
I've been looking for a comment with some logic. Everyone saying that the "pipeline" guys were bad and evil i see it from another standpoint. The guys on the bulldozers and even the security were hired by the "bad" guys to do a job they all have families and they are there to do a job to feed their families. I do not know much about the situation there either, but i can say that going after the workers is wrong. You have a problem with it go after the people making the decisions not the guys just doing their jobs.

Originally the entire land within the continental United States as well as Alaska & Hawaii belongs to the Native Americans and for many years they've had to fight for this land unfortunately.

All I'm saying, if you're not going to do something like that the right way, don't do it at all. It can be done right. Spend a bit more money on it. Have better engineering. Explain to the people, that transporting oil through your superior pipeline, is safer then the alternatives. That kind of thing takes ingenuity, time, patience, money and people that actually care about others and the world they live in. If you believe that is somehow a cost, that is too high a price to pay, to negate the potential environmental impact of doing a shitty job, then I don't know what to tell you.

According to a CNN article published today, Sept. 5th, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe filed a emergency report stating that the oil pipeline was destroying burial grounds and sacred places of worship of the tribe. The oil pipeline company are the ones that should have been charged with trespassing. I do understand why the pipeline is being made, but it should be made without trespassing the tribes land.

In a pre-meditated plan, Dakota Access supplied a private security team armed with pepper spray and guard dogs. Clearly they anticipated trouble, yet had NO plan to help injured people after the conflict. Where is the Law? Where is the help?
