I'm just amazed how perfectly the musical phrases of "Innuendo" were timed with the behavior of the glider in the first video.

What an awesome series of fly buys, incredible sounds .. I got startled once by a pilot of a high performance machine like these just post a check ride in a Switzer SWG 2-32 @ Santa Ynez glider port ... I jumped about two feet didn't hear it coming till it was too late ... That hooked me for life on soaring... Amazing fun ... Thanks for the memories...

Just goes to show how much noise comes from the aircraft alone without engine.

2:25 it’s a bit hard to tell either that’s a real or rc glider

How glider would fly down and then up without engine. I'm so curious about it.

If it has enough speed, it can exchange it for altitude.

What is the thing they control with their left hand?

There usually are two controls on the left side of the glider's cockpit: Spoilers and flaps. Spoilers most often are to reduce the lift and add some drag for controlling th glide path on approach to landing. Some are to limit speed in a vertical dive as well. The flaps in gliders usually shift the speed range of the wing's best performance. Deflecting the flaps down improves the performance at low speed, deflecting them up betters performance at high speed.
There's a multitude of "hacks", though. Since the ASW 17 in 1971, overlays of flaps and aileron controls were common, improving the roll of the very large wing span gliders, for example. For faster decent, many gliders can deflect the outer control surfaces up, inner conrtol surface steeply down for increased drag and optimised control. Together with fully extended spoilers, this brings their aerodynamic performance down to the level of a paraglider or hang glider, which with the high performance planes is essential to be able to land in small fields at all.

Sorry, too dangerous. I stoped watching at 3:06... No options left if something goes wrong. The fun factor is high, but the potential risk is much more higher! Due to my long term experience(>20000 Flight hours...) for me it is just a NOGO.
