THE best thing that I did this year was sitting down with my (now former) CEO and ask 'how hard she would fight to keep me?'
She said she had an interview scheduled for the NEXT DAY for a replacement (not even in-company); so I left.
Fast forward 8 months, I'm making almost 2x what she was as a CEO, working in a healthier enviroment and launching my own business.
Advocate for yourself!

Well, if most bosses were like you, then maybe we'd actually be heard but I feel like you're speaking from a very high level of integrity and you actually love your business, so naturally you will listen. Most people hate their jobs and most of us work for those people. Yeyyy! :) Such fun!

Five minutes in and I am nodding so hard my head could fall off. I have gained these skills naturally throughout my career. I've been complimented on my ability to train others. A former manager said I become a higher, better version of myself when I teach others. Seeing trainees make decisions as I would is the coolest thing to me. The communication piece has developed through trial and error. Finding how much is enough to communicate and bridging gaps in communication. I struggle with taking it personal that management is not reciprocating communication. They don't think of the consequences of not communicating important details that affect my job.

I was just hired on as a site acquisition coordinator for a telecom company and realized I am here not to become a specialist on the team but to become an overflow task overtaker. Another girl was hired on and she found that out and left the job. I feel like she is missing out because the joy I get from taking off work from the specialists on the team is bigger than myself and that’s what I care about more than “knowing my worth” and leaving for a job that will “support me better and give me an official role”. Idk what universe this girl lives in but business doesn’t work like that!! I may be doing busy rudimentary work right now but so did everyone else when they started out and look where they are now!!! freaking leaders. I have full confidence that I’ll get to where they are eventually as I grow too. Now as for my own LLC I am the boss, I am on a mission to create my own team that I have big plans for. Totally different mindset. 💯💯💯
Such an amazing advice from Leila. I am among the hardest-working teachers, always dedicated to helping my students. I never advocate for myself, but I consistently share everything with my colleagues and tend to brush off compliments by saying, 'I'm glad I could help.' Now, as I approach retirement in a year, I will carry these values with me in a different way.

Subbed. I’m personally in a holding pattern with my company, as it’s in the middle of a huge merger. The leadership has leaned out every aspect of the company for this acquisition: promotions, pay, personnel (I’ve survived 2 layoffs in as many years), and moved us to 12 hour shifts. I want to leave, but the potential on the other side of this merger is huge. I appreciate the lessons in this vid. I need to focus on my individual business options to practice these techniques to the fullest, so I can bring them to bear post-merger. Thank you for your down to earth wisdom

As someone who has had a stutter for most of my life, I became one of those driven, high-performing professionals who are rockstars in their competence but broke in their visibility and recognition because of being stuck behind the scenes. Luckily, it's not too detrimental because it's like building a well-lit safe paved road to my goal but doing it in excess can be awkward when I realize its overkill and that time could've been spent elsewhere doing something better
