OMG! I binged this whole series in one day. Then the second season really stole my heart....or maybe the priest did. I so depressed it's over when I just found it. But thank you for the fantastic writing.

Wow, I've looked all over and apparently no one noticed. The spray painted Cyrillic letters at the busstop in the final scene spells "Zhivago," a story of forbidden love. That was BRILLIANT!
Hi from Bulgaria, we speak/write in Cyrillic. Sorry, but I must disagree with you- the word is ЖИВОТЕ, which translates to something like "Oh,Life" in Bulgarian and stomach in Russian :) I also thought it was a cool detail with the meaning that I got from it

Yeees, I’m from Croatia so my Cyrillic isn’t very good - I noticed the writing and figured it said “živote” / “oh, life!”, but I wasn’t completely sure till just now :)
It really gives an additional layer of meaning since this is such a common phrase in the Balkan countries, meaning something like “oh my god” - but usually when something bad or unexpected happens. I would explain it as an abbreviation of “oh life, I can’t believe you are doing this to me” or “what are the odds of this happening in life”, so in this scene it works like a commentary of the whole situation.
Even when the viewer doesn’t know the meaning, I think they can recognise that the word is put in the scene very much intentionally since it’s very visible right behind Fleabag’s face. The very fact that the graffiti is written in Cyrillic letters seems so very thought out - it reminds us of the crazy melting pot that is London, multicultural, ever-changing, postmodern in a way that it’s full of so many entangled stories, so much meaning. In a way, it symbolises the chaos of the contemporary world and how overwhelming it can be, as the official summary of the series said, “to navigate it”.

The absolute INSANITY of clergy having to remain celibate.
Completely agree it is insane. I feel like he had a rough childhood and past and the celibacy gave him peace and safety. The scene when he says “Fuck you for calling me Father” I saw him oozing pain and I felt like she didn’t see it. He was trying to fight his feelings for her, and I think he felt like a bit of a failure because he couldn’t reach her earlier that day. When he was taking about the Priest who cut his own 🍆 off so he wouldn’t touch himself you can see where his head is. 💔
