- Everything we know about Season of Discovery phase 2 so far! This includes changes we will see at level 40!
Many people are requesting an extended phase 1. What are your thoughts?
I’m in no rush to go to phase 2. I’m living in the moment and enjoying every minute because this won’t last forever.
I feel this for sure. Seen a lot of people asking for an extended p1.
Honestly I don’t think blizzard anticipated this massive reaction. 100% they planned it to be like SoM.
Will be real interesting to see how they make changes to their initial plans based on it.
I could see us all hit level 60 and then blizzard says, “Welcome to classic plus”.
@@gizmo6606 I've got no doubt in my mind that a proper, evergreen Classic+ server is coming after SoD. I don't know if it'll be a brand new server, or the current SoD servers will get updated to Classic+, but our characters after hitting 60 HAVE to go somewhere. They can't go to any of the era servers, the only way forward for our characters after SoD is Classic+.

Lvling alts and maxing out proffessions is actually fun. playing 1 character is gonna be boring no doubt.
@@gizmo6606 Hi Gizmo, love your videos. I don't comment on youtube videos much, but I did have a chance to attend Blizzcon with my guild this year and learned some interesting things about this game. We have a few people in the guild who are close to Blizzard employees and one of the classic developers spoke with us at lunch. He mentioned that Classic+ was the initial plan, but Blizzard is not really sold on the idea of it. The reason why Cata Classic is even being released is because Blizzard views it as a slam dunk in terms of revenue. So, they gave the classic team a small budget, a small team, and allowed them the opportunity to show if there may still be an interest in Classic content.
SoM really didn't inspire confidence in Classic, but the response to Hardcore changed that. If they can prove SoD being successful, then Blizzard will allow them a bigger budget and a bigger team. Their plan is to do Classic+ at the end of SoD's lifespan. That is their ultimate goal. SoD is just the testing ground for new ideas that they might want to implement once (if) Classic+ get's released. The success of SoD is important.
I hate all this rising negativity especially from twitch streamers about "SOD Dying" because Blizz wont let them level to 60 straight off the bat.
Best thing about phase 1 is your talent build doesn't overly define your character. You can shoe in as a tank/healer/dps just by switching your gear and runes around without losing out on too much.

Why would they put the pvp event in stv instead of arathi? Arathi basin is the next pvp faction.
If you do some research at least you will notice all mounts price has been reduced to half

End of Jan seems early maybe another week or two, but two months per phase makes sense if they are doing 4-6 phases. And if people are notified that they have 2 months people will play/adjust accordingly
They changed how much the level 40 mounts cost, they are now 36g

I like these phases of release because they can tune each phase as they progress to the last phase. Hopefully that means perfection for phase 3 .

1.5x is a good playback speed
The one thing I wish is that the new raids (made from prior dungeons) be made for different level brackets than they originally were (like bfd is mid 20s still) Like imagine a scarlet monastery tuned for level 60 content instead. I know it won't happen but

I think we’ve all learned to expect content from you that is magnitudes more impactful than a 5 minute summary of months old news my man. Quantity doesn’t trump quality amigo, I’m sure this’ll help a handful or two of viewers, but definitely looking forward to what’s next. God bless!

I hope its not late January, thats way to soon. Basically, that tells the player base there is no point in min/maxing if all you are going to enjoy is 2 month of the best gear.
Man Im worried by the time we get to the later phases theres gonna be too much bloat from the amount of runes in the game and it'll feel like retail
I hear your concern, but I don't feel that way. Runes and how they are implemented add a layer that makes the game more versatile and exciting. Nothing will ever come close to how retail deteriorated over time. Plus, the dev team is actually listening to the players this time, which is HUGE. Time will tell, though.

I think Gnomeragan is the best choice coming from someone who loooved Scarlet Monastery. The reason is that Scarlet Monastery is already a super cool dungeon, they dont have to do anything and it will still be cool. Gnomeragan on the other hand was an unexplored underdeveloped dungeon that had so much potential. It will really add something to the game.
Excited for P2 but lukewarm on Gnomer. It’s just too random and goofy for me.
I agree SM would have been much better.
Questing in stv is going to be absolute nightmare fuel if there is a zone wide pvp event, which is brutal due to the huge amount of quests there that are almost mandatory

it was always going to be Nam, pvp event or not.
STV isn’t required. Plus leveling in dungeons is better, because once you max to 40 the exp reward from a quest converts to increased gold reward. Saving the quests is to do at 40 is the better move.
Dude. Your information is not up to date. SM is going to be the lvl 50 raid, so we may not have access to it next phase like Gnomeregan now. Plus, mounts are already only 36g with training at 9g and I'm not r3 yet
man people saying there is nothing to do in this first phase blows my mind. Gotta max professions, get pre raid bis, then all the raid gear, pvp to at least sergeant rank , get all the runes. and then do that for all the classes you wanna play. I haven't even finished playing 1 character yet. I have terrible luck with drops.
I'm confused, you put a secondary flight point for STV inside the grom'gol base camp where there already is a FP for horde? and you made the northern side the alliance side?
Wasn't Scarlet Monastery teased to be the 3rd raid for lvl 50 cap/phase 3? If that is the case it could be locked and not available as a dungeon. Maybe they'll let us just do the normal one for this phase since that would be a huge blow to available dungeons we can enter
I hope they don't block it. If anything they should just make it "heroic" and separate.
i wish they made it so we have both gnomeragan and scarlet monastery as available raids in phase 2. maybe one being 10man the other 20 or something like that

Yea they kind of screwed the loot system when I found out that lvl 25 epics are superior to lvl 35 epic boe’s. Its just gonna get ridiculous from here and dungeons will never be run apart from the people who didn’t raid BFD
@@matthewm1606 i don't neccesarily think thats true! the epic weapons are really really op, but how many of us will actually have them? even if you have it, apart from the epics you should be able to replace your bfd gear with dungeon gear and boes in phase 2 easily. You will get good upgrades pretty early even if you're full bfd geared
you should be more informed before making a video on the topic...
i would expect SM dungeon to be .. NOT a thing. just like the BFD dungeon, is not a thing. Because they are raids, instead. but we will see...

I am starting to finish up my main character. Probably getting close for blizzard to give the date for the next phase. End of January makes sense.

I see you are a alliance S.C.U.M, you forgot there is 2 flightpath in STV for Horde, only alliance have 1. Having the next raid in an alliance zone, put the horde at a disadvantage, so I guess it equals it out.
I'm actually ok with longer phases, also as a long time rogue main I'm excited for throwing weapon runes
Scarlet monastery would have been the better raid, its more iconic than Gnomeregan and easily could have had a gauntlet style raid. Wouldve been way cooler tbh. Or at the very least make them both raids so there'd be one alliance territory raid and one horde territory raid
Losing SM as a dungeon for leveling would be tragic though. I like them revitalizing the lesser frequented dungeons and areas. Look at Darn for alliance now.
@justiceschenk5392 not really. I actually think it's tragic that people are just gunna level in SM 30-40 and not go out and quest. If they made it a raid it would prioritize being out and questing with more player interaction

"Questing" is an absolute nightmare due to overpopulation for the first week, the only player interaction there is, is people getting frustrated and annoyed at each other for tagging every single spawning mob in the first couple milliseconds. As soon as you are able to, you want to dungeon spam anyways to max level and do as little quests as possible due to the exp to gold conversion of quests at max level. And the quests are unfortunatly also nothing new, weve done them in classic / classictbc / classicwotlk / classichc and we are overpowered af due to runes and bfd gear - 2 shotting every mob. To make questing a reasonable thing outside of gold funneling they would have to change the entire way they designed sod lol.

Both raids are worst one you can choose and yet...
If you check the prices of the mounts currently they have actually been halved so it maybe cheaper then you think :D

I'm having a great time in phase 1... I hope Blizz does not release the next phase too soon. SoD has been a major success so far, and the last thing you want to do is push an Xpack while everyone is enjoying and reveling in it. Let the people who speed run everything gripe... SoD is not for them! They can go to Classic, Hardcore, or Retail for that matter. This is for the fun, casual player who wants to take his TIME and enjoy every aspect of the game. I hope they keep phase 1 until the March 2024 timeframe. Cheers!
its getting dry pretty fast, I think the speed of phases is important unless they add more in each phase making the wait worth it but if all they add is one raid and a pvp event then it needs to be quicker, if they revamp more dungeons and whatnot then waiting isnt an issue
@@basslime4795 Appreciate the response. I don't understand how phase 1 can be boring or "dry" after only 2.5 weeks since launch. If you're only focusing on one or two aspects of the game, maybe, but if you're genuinely trying to enjoy and take it all in, there is plenty of content to make it last a couple more months. Consider creating and experiencing a new character or more PVP. Explore new lands or solo dungeons. People need to give phase 1 more time and not just complain that they did BFD and Ashenvale, and now there isn't anything left to do.

There are plenty of people with 3-4 lvl 25s, maxed professions plenty of gold stashed and basically only thing to do is lvl a 4-5th character you would barely have time to raid on or grind the last reputation rank with wsg that gives no reward atm. Taking a chill pill during Christmas and early January is doable but after that population might plummet if no new content. Everyone will have a 25 in January ready to explore new phase.

SM would have been great but it would have removed all of the leveling dungeons from 30 - 40 outside of RFK and RFD

Zul'Farrak and Scarlet Cathedral would've been amazing for raiding. I'd genuinely be disappointed if this is true.
I doubt the PVP will be STV, if we were basing pvp event zones off of popular pvp areas in actual wow, then we'd have had the battle for southshore rather than Ashenvale.
It will most likely be Arathi and give AB rep.

You forgot alliance has a flight point unique to us in Stranglethorn Vale just south of Duskwood.

Back in the day STV was called STD i wonder if they still call it that .. Nostalgia i have been playing WoW off and on since 2006. This is my longest relationship with the exception of the one i have with my husband of 24 years we have been together 30 and married 24 of those.

Devs said in an inteview that SM is the phase 3 raid. I was hoping phase 2 was SM, and phase 3 was BRD.
This vid is full of wrong information. Neither is Scarlet Monastery a missed opportunity nor STV a rumour. The Devs confirmed it will be the next PvP area and that it won't be anything like Ashenvale. So why even speculate about positions of HQs and Generals.
Gnomergon is way cooler than SM, SM is a better dungeon therefore it’s makes perfect sense to make gnomer the raid

They did tease SM in the reveal, its one of the most requested raids so they probably want to save it for end game. Also Grom'gol already has a FP.

I have a rogue question for anyone willing to answer. It’s regarding Envenom and when to use it. I know Envenom, while requiring one combo point, actually stacks off the poison doses, and, crucially, it doesn’t remove the poison doses when used. So, my question is, if I have 1 or 2 stacks of deadly poison, and a combo point, should I use Envenom already? Or do I use other abilities until Deadly Poison stacks are at 5? I’ve been using Envenom literally every time it’s up, but I feel like in boss fights I end up just pressing Envenom followed by slice and dice.
Any help would be appreciated.

Here is the short answer.
Press envenom at 5 combo points regardless of the stacks. those stacks will hit 5 without issue bit they damage of envenom(as a finisher) is tied to the combo points as well as stacks. Its in the wording.
If you have 5 stacks on but finish with 3 combo points, it only activates 3 of the doses and gives an extra 3 seconds of the buff to apply doses more often.
The finisher is huge at 5 cp.

The problem with making raids like BFD GNOMER and SCARLET is that you remove the dungeon content from non raiders in effect taking away gearing and leveling options, this is BAD.
Speaking for myself, the ONLY reason I want to play SoD is BECAUSE they actually change stuff up from vanilla. I DON'T want to play the exact same game from 18 years ago. If you play SoD and can't (or don't want to) get a 10m group for a 3day lockout dungeon, and then saying it's BAD is a take I struggle to make sense of. UBRS was also a 10m dungeon. Did you not do that either?
I was not saying SoD or changes were bad. I was saying that taking content away from non raiders is bad. Expanding/Changing things is fine. Just don't force non raiders into raiding by removing more and more dungeon content. By all means making a raid along side a dungeon is great. SO those who want to raid can and those who don't do not have to. I just prefer they ADD to the game, not gate keep dungeon content by forcing it into a raid.@@vetlestoraas600
This is a fictional issue. Nobody in his right mind runs old bfd or gnomer to level and they dont take away scarlet. If you dont raid, you dont need gear. The quests are comfortable in greens, especially with the runes.
You are stuck in the "Current phase is the only phase" my friend. I mentioned SM because the video did, not because it is something they have done. And telling someone that they don't need something because you prefer to play a certain way is goofy. And yes MANY people still go back and get gear and such from those dungeons, tripper runner dungarees come to mind right off the bat. My point was, one of the main reasons for HC success was because the game became about leveling and questing, not raiding. When you focus the game around "End game" you create a race condition and end up with people only playing on raid days and logging off after. This is what plagues Wrath and retail now. Then you end up getting wow tokens and paid boosts which are bad for the overall game experience. These are my opinions. We don't have to agree.@@getoutofmylobby4347
@@makoshark2001 I disagree. And I reccomend you get out of your comfort zone and join a bfd group. An hour tops and it's great content. Fun to see bosses do more than just attack the tank.
Gnomer raid is so nice! Im going to abuse my gnomish engi trinket to mindcontrol mechanical mobs - gonna make huge money of those trinkets when p2 launches and I can say to noobs: hey grab your op bis trinket because nobody in this fucking game has ever thought od it like that since there aint no much mechanical stuff anymore after dm and gnomer😂

If you mean the rebel camp area right near the duskwood border, I ran to booty bay last night and there was no flight path. I don’t remember when it was added but it’s not there atm. Hopefully they add it

Sod overall just feel underwhelming. Nothing new at all. It’s more like a tbc minus. The honor ranking cap makes no sense at all. Some class need their honor gears early to be effective. For example warrior. give r13 gears to warrior after aq20 would be way too late since everyone would become too strong. The extra Stam is useless after bwl. What’s the point of lvl 25 cap? Some classes need core spells to be playable. Most spells or talents only accessible at lvl 30. Lvl 25just making classes even more unbalanced. I was 25 third day of the lunach, rank 3, I leveled almost 4 professionals to 150 already. 11/12 on runes. Probably can get 12/12 if I really want to. Don’t feel there’s any I can do with all the caps. You can level another char but are u really gonna play it? Probably no. 1-25 is easy but after that, I would never get the time to level a second of third char to 60. Let alone I am a pvp player. Just big waste of time. Sod feel like put it together last sec with one purpose to milk more money.
I am a classic player. Vinlla tbc. But this sod is just terrible. They never fix the things that should be fixed to improve gaming experience like bg scoreboard, premade, dueling. Some much detail that could be improved to make the game much better without changing its core.

mount aren't 80g I went to the trainer yesterday and with my main faction at honored the mount costed 36g and the training is 9g
