    It's fucking amazing how rough he's being with those files. I mean you go astray with one of those and that ring could be completely done. But he just goes balls deep and has it done.

    Great video and you seem to take pride in your profession, a true professional. Many videos on here so a mad man banging away with a metal hammer, great to see how its really done.

    I'm glad I found this video because I've been hesitant to get my ring resized lol. Everyone's been scaring me by saying it'll ruin the diamonds and it'll never be the same. Thank you for this! 🙌🏽

    Nice job on the sizing. We use 18k testing acid to find the joint. Apply the acid to the bottom of the shank, give it about 30 seconds and wipe it off. If the ring has been sized previously you will see a line.

    Tony, amazing insight into the process of upsizing half eternity rings. Does upsizing on this type of ring pose problems to the stones like in channel setting?

    Another way of adding the solder is on a tweezer save the solder jumping off....heat the solder so it beads up on the tweezer, then introduce it to the ring with the added piece of metal. Personally I would have used a smaller piece of 18ct white as it's expensive to buy fresh metal......plus it cuts down on the filing.

    At 2:06 how do you make sure the ends of the ring match up with the ends of the inserted piece so they mate up properly?

    I have a question. I know the ring is white gold. But the material you filled it with was it white gold as well or a different metal? In order to make it larger?

    Question please answer...…….my sister has a 10k mother daughter ring that needs to be enlarged. Can one supply gold for material to go into ring to be sized ...is that something a customer can request to be done ...or...is it up to the jeweler to do? I understand 10k is more fragile...is that correct? The ring being sized is 10k with 4 stones...needs to go a size larger or 1 1/2 size larger...….can this be done? I would so appreciate your insight.....wonderful video....I did so enjoy it. Thanks so much for your time and hopefully I will hear your answer to my questions....thanks ever so. Johnny/for my sister Geri

    after resizing, should the ring weigh less? especially if the jeweller says he added gold. I have been shafted.

    Let me ask you. How is the process on the same ring but reducing the size from 5 to 4.25? Is it safe for the diamonds casing? The diamonds shouldn't fallout after, right?

    so the little piece thats added isnt precious metal at all?

    • @AdiHaru
      @AdiHaru 8 років тому +6

      it has to be the same metal as the ring itself. otherwise over time, if not immediately...it will be very visible the color difference

    What was the material he cut to add to the ring? He may have said but I didn't catch it. Thanks anyone.

    • @NYWatchCo
      @NYWatchCo 10 років тому +1

      Jose Leyva no such thing as 24k white. Probably 18k or 14k - but the same material as the ring is made out of. 24k white would be 100% gold and white color. That 24k white alloy is not possible because you have added nothing to make it white.

    No need to submerse diamonds in water when sizing, I routinely re tip prongs directly over diamonds. Diamonds can take the heat. Sapphires and rubies can as well

    You used a lot of metal just for that small resize. Surely there’s a more cost effective method of resizing?
