    If you put a zip tie on the door where cotton is that is now a illegal crap trap. Just add a better bungee, or maybe 2.

      What's going on Chris, thanks for watching!!! As far as depths go, I myself like to go deeper in the beginning of the season. As the season gets closer to the end I feel like I have more luck at shallower depths. Hope this helps!!!

    Is it fine to have rust on metal crab pots?

    • @BlueCoastFishing
      @BlueCoastFishing  Рік тому +1

      A little rust is not bad after a season of salt water you do tend to get some corrosion though!!

    Crab rings and crab pots should also have a small buoy / float at top of harnesses to keep the harness floating above crab rings and crab pots. The small buoy / float also helps right the crab rings or crab pots when thrown into water as the crab rings or crab pots sink so they land on at the bottom correctly.

      @@BlueCoastFishing pretty good so far, think I am going on my third year with the cheap square crab pots and cheap crab rings and they are needing replaced and or repaired. Was thinking about getting nicer crab pots but not sure if those would be as easy to throw from a pier because of extra weight compared to the cheap square pots. Also throwing cheap crab pot into the ocean does not hurt the pocket if it gets snagged or lost compared to the more expensive crab pots.

    • @BlueCoastFishing
      @BlueCoastFishing  2 роки тому +1

      @@willapanews9761 yes vey true!!! Cheaper crab pots are better when throwing from a pier in my opinion.. definitely dont want to be losing expensive crab pots !!

    Really cool info. I'll be crabbing to get bait, to then use the crabs/small fish to get bigger fish. It's annoying to hear that California that your not allowed to use so many things. That state has so many regulations that possibly even breathing is against the law.

    Crab snare traps are totally illegal in Florida. You get caught, your gear will be confiscated and you will get a hefty fine.

      @@BlueCoastFishing Turtles, it's all about the turtles. Now they regulated the overnight traps to have the 4 openings with turtle excluders installed (they're called BRD's). 50 years of crabbing and I've never had a turtle in my traps nor heard of anyone else. They are crazy over the top in protecting turtles.
