I staged out of the Santa Fe regional airport - I think it was $3/day, no problems. I've used regional airports a few times for this - they're pretty chill and not typically that expensive.
I've wondered this myself about riding BDRs. You leave your vehicle somewhere then ride the route one way and then back? Or do you make arrangements for someone to meet you at the end? My limited brain power hasn't been able to work this out ! 😂
Curious if you've ever owned a GS, since you said you wouldn't want to ride that Section on a GS? Don't get me wrong, I would avoid that Section with my current experience level, but it doesn't look THAT bad.
I had an R1200R for a number of years, but never a GS. Of course, it all depends on the skill of the rider, if you look at 12m in, a fall there on a big bike might be tricky to recover. I ride mostly alone, so I like knowing I can muscle the bike out of almost anywhere by myself. And these challenge sections aren't as well traveled as the main route, so you don't always know what you're going to get into. Also, most cameras flatten out the terrain (esp GoPro's with the wide angle lenses) - anything you see in youtube, take with a grain of salt as to how difficult it looks.
Good stuff, man. Keep it up, you're quite listenable.
I sit a lot when riding. I think it’s from when I started racing Moto Cross. I just lift my butt off the seat when obstacles appear. 😢
'So I can sip my vanilla latte and listen to NPR' ,,,,,,,,CLASSIC! Thanks for keeping it real.
Thanks for the video. Rode that last year on my Africa Twin and my buddy’s KLR650
Matt, where'd ya park your truck to keep it safe?? Thanks for the post!👍

Lol at Abeequee. It's Ah-beh-que.
Haha, been saying it wrong for months now - nobody corrected me!
This is great Matt, I was hoping you would have some videos of this trip. Can we look forward to video of you doing some big passes?
Thanks! I did the passes today and unfortunately no video ;/
Excellent 👍
Nice your, what is the bike you’re riding?
‘21 KTM 500 exc-f
Setting the GoPro to a narrower angle looks more like this. Wide Angle helps appreciate true speed though.
Nice tour dude. 🤩
7:10. Haha
Ah, KTM, of course
