      @@blahblah2779 you gotta know where to shop and buy in bulk. I go shopping once a week and spend about $40-60 a week so averaging out to about $200 a month. I definitely cant buy anything I want but Id rather save my money. So I make the sacrifice. I buy large staple food in bulk, lots of rice and pasta. Fresh fruits veggies when they are on sale, only shop at discount stores. No Safeway, Ralph’s or trader joes shopping. You get the point, if you plan your means and buy in bulk its absolutely possible.

    My daughter and some college roommates moved to LA and rent a house for $4000 a month. She doesn’t have a car but her housemates do. She takes a bus or Uber 5 miles away to her job in Beverly Hills. She graduated college a year prior in the film industry and received a job offer. I was so nervous about her moving across the country from the east to the west coast but you can’t tell a young 20 something year old anything. She’s been doing OK so far and has been gaining screen writing gigs on the side, I have to let her spread her wings but will always be here for her as a mom but I’m not helping her pay for anything. On occasion, she may asked to borrow some money here and there, but always pays me back surprisingly :-) I wasn’t keen with the area as well. She lives is nice but two blocks away look like a totally different world, but from what I understand that’s LA for you and when I moved her out there last year, the price of gas was bananas and the supermarkets didn’t seem anything like the ones where she was a custom to as far as quality of produce, etc. but like I said she’s been doing OK so far. Her roommates with the cars drive around and they will pick up food together and she chips and for gas and she wants to work on getting her own car. I think when she’s been out there a few years and I see that she still continues to do OK, only then well, I feel all right, but I have to have faith.

    • @divx1001
      @divx1001 2 роки тому +4

      @K B you both are right but I think you have different types of people on your minds when you talk about eating out. If you have a strenuous job and if you forgot lunch or have no desire to make it, please don't eat out every day in rastaurants and complain that your wage isn't covering your expenses. You must live according to what you make, otherwise problems start piling up. Get a sandwich or a pizza slice, get a shawarma for God's sake. If you eat 5 days a week for a month in a restaurant, you shouldn't complain about money. When I was making little money, I went out to eat max twice a month. If I had to have lunch at work, I'd get the cheapest sandwich or go to a supermarket to get some fruit / bread. Sometimes people need to separate their needs from wants.
      At the same time I get what you're saying. Some people can't even afford bread, so we should work on making it as accessible as possible. However I still think that many people in the western world live beyond their means. Getting Starbucks, lunches in restaurants, buying new clothes every 3 to 6 months.... And then they complain about the cost of living. Something tells me that people have no idea that needs must come before wants and only after that you can think of spending the excess on some of your wants. Any other way of doing it and you end up satisfied but broke which will only pile on stress in the long run.

    $375 a month for groceries and still spend $300 going out to eat? I spend about $400 a month on groceries for a family of 4 and we dont really eat out. Every video I watch of yours makes me remember why I suffer through the winters where I live.
