I totally agree with your lid problem because I dropped twice. I need to pay more attention to my lid pan when it is full of food. I also have the dripping water problem. You really reviewed the gear as an user, not just opened the box and tell people what it inside.
They must have reinforced the frying pan handle because I just bought mine, and it LOCKS into place. It still swivels the same direction, but they made it MUCH sturdier.
If the fry pan handle was not flipped in this direction of nesting it the pan would not pack as a lid on the pot. Best remedy is scoop your food out of the pan without lifting it by the handle.
Thanks very much for the honest assessment! The lid/frying pan seems like a good idea, on paper, but the actual use of it looks to have issues (size, handle, sticking food, etc.). Secondarily to that, it seems to be less than ideal as a lid. I love Ti backpacking cookware, and Snow Peak in particular (I have their Trek 700, the Mini Solo, the 450mL double wall mug, and their Ti bowl... all of which are excellent), but I think I'll pass on this one. Your video helped!
Squeeze the handle of the pan ever so slightly and it will not fold in on itself... I purchased the 1400 for a multitude of reasons, a few are a cup for filtering water wether by filter or flame, extra room to soak, mainly replacing multiple small cups or things for one larger
Yeah, I found that that part wears out a bit over time and requires a tighter hold to avoid the collapse. Still a great product. Hope you're enjoying it!
The handle has lips folded over to stop the frypan dropping down when using.you have to squeeze the handle outwards to put the handle back over itself.who do you work for?
Hi Robert, I'm familiar with the features you're referring to, but I found that it wears down over time and does not sufficiently support the weight of the pan when there's food in it. I worked for REI at one point.
I had this item in my cart and ready to buy it until I saw your video mentioning about the frying pan design issue, I immediately remove it from my cart and won't buy this. Thanks for sharing
You just have to squeeze the handle when holding it , thats the design , it works like it should
You can pinch the handle while holding so its hinge grips onto the detent tighter, that should prevent the handle from unlatch and flip over.
Thanks for reviewing!
I just got this set and it is unreal.

How well does it work as a double boiler? It looks like it doesn't fit very straight when the pan is sitting that way.
Great review! You talked about things not mentioned in other videos I've seen. Thanks!

Simply use a trangia pot holder to pick up hot pot and frypan from the top.
Regarding your problem with the pan... you just have to apply some light inward pressure on the handle and there is no way it will fold down.
Thanks!
Mine does not fold down on itself at all like you're claiming. Works great on an Emberlit as well.
Nonja Ninja my is work very good as well, doesn’t fold down
Pretty sure you can just squeeze the handle on the pan whenever you have to move it around...?
Yup, u can, but its not intuitive, and the stakes r high :)
Nice video! Thank you! 👍🏽🔥
can't you just squeeze the handle a bit for it to stay in place?
You don't want it to stick, heat up your pan slowly, heat up your oil slowly. I bet it will not stick. Try it.
