    Thank you so much for this video. Your meticulous attention to detail is exceptional and at my age level and experience quite rare. My TroyBilt TB425CS was running great for 16+ years and then I replaced the carb for $7 US via Amazon. It was an instant fix. I did not have the time or patience to go through the steps you provided but at least I now know what a potential problem might be. Great job of explaining and illustrating the detail. Guess what? I have the same issue 2 years later and after replacing the plug, checking the rocker arm clearance, changing the oil, changing the fuel tube and primer tube, gas filter, adjusting the idle screw, separating the cut off lines/wires which have gotten loose, I found your post. I still bought a carb replacement because I think that something got in there after the gas ran out. Just the way a fuel pump can get ruined by letting gas get too low in your car, it can happen with these gadgets also. But, your walk through and video is exceptional.

      It helps to make vids, for when my age causes fuzzy thinking too. Thanks for the king reply..

    Found the same gunk behind my screen in the carburetor. Thanks so much, small engine repair shop told me it was not worth repairing. Great Save!

    Hey thank you a ton for this video. We were having the same issue but the source was entirely different, however we wouldn't have figured it out without your video. The fuel line inside the tank was old and corroded and had a split near the top of the tank, so when starting it we had no problem, but as soon as I would pick it up and tilt it to trim, it got air instead of fuel and died.

    Thanks for the video. That was exactly the problem with my trimmer. Blew out the screen and now it runs perfectly!

    thank you for the time on this video Sir! question for those reading through, has anyone felt the need to replace the THROTTLE BODY due to air leakage at the rotating shaft area? There seems to be an expandable type oring gasket that in one vid I saw last year the diyR said wasn't serviceable but it allows to much air in.. thanks in advance

    • @DETHdressedInRED
      @DETHdressedInRED 4 роки тому

      This wasn't the issue I had when I came to this video but has been in the past. They are very cheaply built little gaskets.

    • @DETHdressedInRED
      @DETHdressedInRED 4 роки тому

      As for how we fixed it, we actually bought a little gasket from a vape store that fit it perfectly and it sealed everything up nicely and has never been an issue again.

  • @glosol22
    @glosol22 5 років тому +2

    I am confused. At 10:07 you can see a round spot on the gasket that should have one end of a spring that presses against the gasket. The metal part of the carb at 10:16 has a round area the spring fits into perfectly. But at 10:23, upon reassembly of the carb, no spring is installed. I have this exact model troy bilt, and I for sure have a spring in that location. What confuses me is why it runs without that spring, or is it even a required part? anyone else have a spring in your carb?

    GOOD VIDEO...SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO TAKE THEM APART TO FIND THE PROBLEM!..

  • @jeffwason
    @jeffwason 8 років тому +1

    The problem is found starting at 7:20 a little piece of plastic clogging the brass looking tube which connects to the gas line

      yep, that was the problem. it was an easy fix finding it. I like those..

    Mine will start and idle put dies when you pull the trigger to accelerate. I'm going to go through the carb and see what I see but I noticed that my intake tube is quite loose where it goes into the tank. Maybe the tank isn't pressurizing as it maybe should? Should the hose be a tight fit?

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo  5 років тому

      The fuel line tube will be tight enough so fuel does not pour out that hole in the tank should the trimmer be turned so, but it is not so tight you can not move it in or out when needed. The filter should be in the tank at the bottom of the fuel. The fuel line can tear if something hits it hard near the intake tube on the carb, I had that happen, ans sucked air into the carb wirh fuel, so check there for a hole or loose connection. The mix needles are set for air fuel mixture, another area internal trash can slow or block the fuel flow.

      @@dadcolo Thanks for the reply. My tube is not original and a bit loose. I fixed that and no difference. Then I noticed the little black round thing/cover (seems like a choke) that you said checked to make sure it stayed open at 5:47 was closed and never opened while operating the trigger. It's open on yours at 1:12 also. I found the little lever on the back and opened it and presto..it started right up, idled as it should and now accelerates as it should. In fact it goes up to a higher RPM than it used to. Is that cover a manual choke? is it supposed to move with the trigger action? Thanks to you video, I've made progress!

    • @duathlete827
      @duathlete827 5 років тому

      After a bit more research, it's apparently a cold weather startup lever! Never noticed it before.

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo  5 років тому

      hose not a tight fit, and the tank is not a pressurized system.

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo  5 років тому

      @@duathlete827The blue lever behind the air filter is a manual choke, up is off. Trigger movement does not change the choke position. Please excuse the late replies.

    Can this type of carburetor installing in to 2stroke engine?

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo  4 роки тому

      I don't know if it can, I'm not an engineer. The TB425CS is a 4 cycle engine, the fuel will be thinner than oil mixed 2-cycle engines, the fuel jet will be different, and other passages could be too.

  • @nashdoyle3303
    @nashdoyle3303 8 років тому

    Probably what is wrong with mine too. The primer won't even fill up I have to force fuel through it to the rest of the carb. I won't get enough gas to take off the coke enough to get rpms needed to do it's job.

    Old video... I have the same unit. And it has been working pretty good over the years. But now I lost spark. So time to either fix it or buy a new one. I see parts are not available for a lot of the parts that fit this unit now. I guess that is how they push you to buy a new unit...

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo  3 роки тому

      Have you checked with the small engine repair shops for parts ?
      Have you checked the kill switch wiring make sure it is not grounding out the power ?
      I find the electrical is usually something simple been overlooked.

    the o-ring I am speaking of is evident at 5:39

      Calvin G. Williams well, sadly, no success on my end.....and I have a troy-bilt edger that I caught at lowes on clearance (return) fot half off....so I swapped carbs (after cleaning) and still nothing. it will start on ether and WOT but then dies within 5 seconds. I lost my patience on working on this POS and threw it across the front yard. going to go pick it up and do a compression check, then it's going on craigslist free section
      oh and this stupid Warbro carb is non adjustable, obviously by design.
      okay, rant finished now

    Where can I get those fuel plastic lines?

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo  3 роки тому

      Some hardware stores carry the small lines, The true value here has a small engine repair in the store. Farm coop store has a chain saw repair shop too, they use these small fuel lines.

  • @jimmytate7587

    i think the tank is pressurized. you don't want it to vent

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo  7 років тому +1

      it does vent through the cap, pressure could cause the carb to flood.

    most important on this model is to pump 10 times really slow

      to prime the carb an flush out air, your right..

    • @wjackstl
      @wjackstl 7 років тому

      asus3571 I know it's recommend 10 time prime bulb, but a little excessive don't you think? also, if using ether or starting fluid, don't prime except maybe 3 times

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo  7 років тому +1

      I prime only on first start of the day then after running out of gasoline, 9 clears the system of air.
