My 79 Triumph Spitfire 1500 differential video, findings after about 28,000 miles of road mileage. I have proof the fiber thrust washers can breakup. Copper replacements can be home made from a bronze sheet of proper thickness. My great grandmother lived in the hotel at mack, she converted half of it into a rock shop. We visited her often and when she bought it they found alot of photos that were used in this documentary in the attic. Also found was the guest logbook for the hotel, i met her father who was 100 years old at the time (i was 13) and he showed me in that guestbook his signature from when he stayed there when he was a boy

      Thanks for your reply. I remember her and the rock shop was filled with treasures. I have a petrified fish and large shark tooth she collected from her digs on Dougls Pass. I was amazed the roof was so straight and new owners years later allowed me to venture into the attic with my camera for a look.

    Very cool demo. If you had used an old analog multimeter set to DC volts you would see the needle sweep up and down which is a cool effect. I always thought they called this the voltage limiter when it goes to the guage cluster...the voltage stabilizer goes to the coil and alternator at least thats what those old mopar training videos and reference manuals called it.

    Wow! I have a three-valve manifold system with Watermaster 3/4" valves and I was getting pretty pissed not being able to find anything to match up for a replacement diaphragm. Didn't want to have to replace the entire system just for a stinking diaphragm. You saved me an IMMENSE amount of headache, anger, and misery. Cheers!

  • @richnuthouse

    Thanks for the video! Although Watermaster is no more, we can keep the valves working. If you take a diaphragm in for replacement to a sprinkler store without the exact Orbit replacement number, they might sell you something that fits but doesn't work ( I learned this the painful way). Notice in this video how there is a white plastic tab in the diaphragm? This lets the water pass to the top side of the diaphragm. That water is essential to provide the pressure to keep the valve closed. If you try to use a diaphragm with no penetration other than a small hole in the very center of the diaphragm it will not work in these Watermaster valves. The valve will not close.

    What model is this. My control valve is just like this one in video. The manual lever on mine broke. Just want to replace it. Otherwise the valve works well. Any knowledge as to where I can purchase one? This way I don't need to dig up everything then install a whole new valve.

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo 7 місяців тому

      billybob3627 This watermaster valve has no numbers on it, and I don't have a box that one come in. Orbit head with 8 screws has a different diaphragm, and the on/off manual valve is different than the WM. Lowes said they have no available parts for WM. If you do find a number for your valve post it here for others to search for parts.

    Super, an incredible video. I grew up about ten miles away from Mack, Colorado, and although I never saw the Uintah Railway operate, I did see them take the water tanks off of one of the Baldwin articulated locomotives, add a tender, and ship it to another American railroad for operation. There is also a fantasy UA-cam video of a ride on the Uintah Railway that is pretty good. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. P.S. Yes, Uintah Railway fans, I have a section of track that has 66° curves and a 7.5% grade, up to the fiddle yard and a sugar and lumber mill. 💙 T.E.N.

    You didn’t clean the fuel passages underneath the plastic plug on top of the carburetor, the one that’s held down by the sideways plastic screw. Looks like you didn’t have any surging at start up, but if the engine was surging with its revs from high to low to high to low constantly, cleaning crud out of the fuel passages underneath that plastic plug remedies the surging problem every time. I’m here in the first place because I picked up one of these generators and I wanted to find out where those fuel hoses on the carburetor go. The two other than the main supply hose. Previous owner fouled everything up. When you removed the carburetor, and then when you reinstalled the carburetor, the other end of those hoses were out of frame both times… Just my luck😩

    Great video! I have stromberg 175cdt-u for Mercedes 1978, I've try to adjust mixture but when I try to lift the valve up the idle drop & engine is shut off. The rpm is already on the high idle. Is there other screw to adjust the idle? I have no problem with the power of my engine but when I checked the spark plug its full of carbon (Back then my spark plug is brown & fuel economy is great)

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo Рік тому

      Adiemobs, I'm not familiar with the175cdt-u. Spark plugs covered with carbon is usually too much fuel, could be the choke not fully releasing. My water heated choke was causing me trouble so I installed the manual choke. This carb in my video here is running with the 10% ethanol blend fuel, engine ran well. When the non-ethanol mix fuel become available again I overfilled my tank (my bad) in Montrose before driving from over Red Mountain (twisty high elevation roads). When I got home I found the carbon canister was soaked with wet gas, and my spark plugs carboned up the worse I had seen. I cleaned the plugs and used the ethanol mix after that. Engine ran better, no heavy carbon build up. I edited most of my earlier reply out, sometimes too much info is confusing. You had good coloring before, could be something you recently changed. My 150 did have another screw, on the rt side of the carb, for adjusting the mix when smog testing. I think it was fine tuning the internals I'm not sure. Mine was set a few turns out. My choke was most of my troubles.

    I saw the jet removed, but didn’t see the emulsion tube removed and cleaned. Did I miss it? “Set voltage cycles” is a confusing phrase. Voltage and frequency are two different things. These cheap little governors may wander, giving you 58 Hz at high load, 60 Hz unloaded. I suggest setting speed governor to give you 60 Hz at the load you see most of the time. You can’t do much about the voltage regulator, though bumping up a slow machine to 60 Hz will show a slight increase on this generator.

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo 2 роки тому

      Lane I don't remember the emulsion tube if cleaned or not, the 60 cycles and frequency would they be the same thing?

    • @lanedexter6303
      @lanedexter6303 2 роки тому

      @@dadcolo yes, frequency is the “speed” of the Alternating Current. 60 cycles (60 Hertz) is normal on North America.BTW if you recall the constant 7200, you can use it to determine generator rpm to make 60 Hz or learn the number of poles on its rotor. 7200 divided by number of poles is necessary rpm for 60 cycles. 7200 divided by rpm at 60 Hz is the number of poles. Small home generators are two pole units turning 3600 rpm. Some of the large hydro units I operated have 48 poles and turn 150 rpm.

Design failure is present all the way to aerospace components.
