- Two great traditional tunes being played at the annual Dôl-Llys Hall garden party near Llanidloes in Mid Wales on Saturday 6 August 2022.
Musicians from two local ceilidh bands, Sir Dancelot and Ffonic, play Out on the Ocean and Spirit of the Dance.
Dôl Llys Hall is a co-operative and co-housing community a short walk from Llanidloes town centre. The hall, a Grade II listed building, is a Gothic country house in the style of John Nash. It was built in 1808 - 13 by George Mears, previously George Stephens. He inherited the property in unusual circumstances when, as a young lawyer, his name was added to the will of the previous owner - Maurice Mears - and eleven other named heirs then died. George subsequently changed his name to Mears.
There are grounds of over 14 acres, including woodland, wildflower meadows, vegetable and ornamental gardens, and a seasonal lake.

Very enjoyable! I'm not too familiar with the second tune. Where is it from? I play trad on the silver flute too and just got back from a session weekend - NotMells! :) x
It's Spirit of the Dance from the Thomas Hardy family manuscripts, Dorset. Hope you enjoyed NotMells, I was at Whitby two weeks ago, great sessions there!
Lovely - as always, the music is superb. It's a lovely place...
The musicians played brilliantly all afternoon - definitely one of the highlights of summer 2022 for us - perfect weather, perfect place and perfect company too! 😊
Lovely, both the setting and the music. 😀
Indeed, we had a wonderful afternoon. Thanks for watching and for your lovely comment ☺
