It's stupid how sony ignores the huge community of passionate vita players.
Soldner X2 is excellent on the PlayStation vita!!
I've really been wanting to play it, but just can't find it anywhere!
+Erika Szabo it was a limited run games release. It's available digitally too
MetalJesusRocks nothing makes my heart warmer than youtubers showing an amazingly "failed" system :)
It's being re-released by Play Asia for an additional 3000 copies! Make sure to order one before they all sell out. www.play-asia.com/sldner-x-2-final-prototype-play-asiacom-exclusive-multi-langua/13/70am7p
Getting a re-release copy :)
I wish Persona 5 would be released on Vita. That's a time consuming game and it would be perfect on a handheld
Yessssssssssss!
use henkaku, you can get it free
ItsAndreCRACK no you cant its not out yet
yap,all games
While we are on that topic, how long does Persona 4 Golden for PSVita take?
Currently playing it, already clocked 4 hours (not counting overlap due to lack of saving)
and it doesnt feel like I'm even 5% done...
Perfect timing on this video! I literally bought a Vita last weekend and have been reading and watching videos to figure out my list of games to get. Thanks, Erika!
Yay! A Vita video! I've recently become obsessed with my Vita and building a collection of physical games. Such a great system. Also, I sold my copy of Danganronpa 1 after beating it and i TOTALLY regret not just keeping it as part of my collection :(
I'm super excited because I have a physical copy of Shovel Knight coming at the end of this month for the Vita
Also, Phantasy Star Nova is a fun Japanese import to help scratch the Monster Hunter-esque itch. I love to pop that one in every once in awhile, and it's one of the less expensive imports too. Got mine on Amazon for about $15 US.
PS vita is #1 in my eyes. Its all I need for gaming.
I love the DS and 3DS. I spend most my gaming hours on handhelds.
This video has definitely peaked my interest in the Vita!.
Micah Buzan get it my dude but you need Sony vita memory cards only few problems
Basement Dweller exactly if they are gonna cancel the vita at least make a formwere update so you can use normal memory cards
Really enjoyed seeing your Vita collection, Erika!! I really appreciate it especially with most people bashing the handheld.
There's a game coming out on the 18th of this month (October) called "Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky" coming out for the PS4 and the PS Vita that's made by the same people who made "Valkerie Profile"(It's supposed to have similar game play, too). Definitely check that one out when it comes out whenever you get the chance.
I love the Oled screen on the original PS Vita it's so good I even watch movies on my PS Vita and they look great. It's criminal how the Vita was left on the shelf it was so ahead of it's time and even today it feels like a device that could easily of been launched in today's market.
The Vita is the ultimate subculture console, it shines the light on games that wouldn't normally get noticed on other systems because of it's audience.
Does this PS Vita has A-B Repeat function in Music and Video? PSP does have it.
Got excited seeing this vid pop up in my notifications, Erika + PS Vita? 😍
Anyway, I bought my 1000 series Vita weeks ago and I've been enjoying it a lot, the PSP was my favorite handheld and now the Vita is becoming my new fav. The games I own physically are Muramasa Rebirth, Persona 4 Golden and Blazblue Chronophantasma Extend. I don't exactly have any recommendations, but I bought Jet Set Radio on it and I've been obsessed over it! It might be a little clunky, but the game's a lot of fun, filled with style, unique art design and an amazing OST! Btw, it's a download only title.
This was a great video thanks for your hard work
Badass Vita collection, darling! You are into a lot of games that I'm into for the Vita. Similar games in your collection that I have in my Vita collection video. :)
Nice collection!
I buy most of my Vita games digitally because of all the great sales. The only physicals I have are Persona 4 Golden, Steins;Gate & God Eater 2: Rage Burst.
Lost Dimension is so good! I'd love to hear your thoughts on it when you finish it.
are you only after physical copies? cause there all available to download digital
5 years ago and you were completely right about the vita being a complete cult hit and I believe in time will be remembered by most for being an under-appreciated hidden gem during its prime.
I love my Vita!!!! I adopted it very late, "only like six months ago". I am just blown away by all the amazing games, especially seems my favorite genre is RPG's. All the original games but then the back catalogue of old PS1 gems and everything else. I found the Legend of Heroes games because of my Vita and was lucky enough to get Trails of Cold Steel special edition then the sequel. Theres too many good games to list in the comment section! Great video, its nice to see someone give the Vita the love it deserves!!
Nice to see that there is a small but strong bunch that really enjoy and support the vita... brings tears to my eyes *sniff
You like the games that came out this year for it summon night 6?
Check out the Trails of Cold Steel games. Probably the best JRPGs I've played since Persona 4.
I was going to comment this.
This dude is correct.
Due to these two comments - I am going to buy Trails of Cold Steel right now. If it's in the same sentence as Persona 4.
I'll note to keep in mind both games act as one large game and it takes a while for it to "take off", but when it does, it's awesome.
The music is top notch as well
alfaucko Everyone seems to be critical of Persona 4's slow beginning but I never really got it. Was very happy with the game from start to finish. I must have got into the story pretty quickly I guess.
The second installment just came out as well, so you've got nearly 200 hours of gameplay ready to go.
I'm looking to purchase a brand new Vita and was wondering what would be my best bet in terms of retailers if I'm looking for the cheapest price?
Haven't seen that Soul Sacrifice cover before - looks dope!
But more generally - great video! Love the Vita :D
Oh, and as for the physical release of Digimon - it's legit. Hong Kong, Malaysia, etc. got physical English copies. You can probably get your hands on one through Play Asia or Heavy Arm or something.
how far have you played Norn9? is it good? i'd like to support those kinds of games but im not THAT sure if i could really get into it. i have code realize but havent touched it yet. there is just too many games for the vita and it is a bit of a race especially for collectors. have you heard about yomawari? that might interest you. it will be out this 25th.
Love my Vita...getting excited for Dragon Quest Builders out mid October
It's already out if you pirate it.
Bro don't pirate. The vita gets little love as it is, pirating would me it worse! I don't have a problem with emulators though.
+XenoGamer I'm still going to buy it but I just want to play games before they come out. I'm also playing the new Digimon Next Order in English on my Vita now because someone worked out that the official English subtitles are hidden on the Chinese version. The game was released in Japan for the Vita but it's now not going to be released now for Vita in the west but will only be a PS4 exclusive in 2017 which is really dumb. There won't even be a digital only version.
How are we supposed to play it on our Vitas? :D
By modifying the game to show the English subtitles and playing it through Henkaku I can play it :)
But I wasn't planning to...
I wanna do this!!
It is a perfect time to buy PSVITA.
Why?
+Chris Hira because of henkaku)
as a collector, id really wish henkaku could prove to be beneficial for the vita to keep it going, altho im not sure how it would help the devs to keep making games for it. i really want more physical games :(
yes great for holidays
zetaro05 Limited run games are pumping life into the vita. Check them out, they release 2-4 games a month for it and $25 each. The games are physical by the way :)
This is a system I don't own yet but I have 2 games for it. Everyone talks about how much of an underrated system it is. I'll have to keep my eyes open for a system on the cheap and some games.
Subbed!! Got my vita less than a year ago for Christmas! One of my favorite handhelds behind gba advance sp and psp, somewhere I tie between DS and 3DS, but I play vita much more!! Can you please do a review for dragon quest builders, world of final fantasy and others for vita!!
Love the Vita! Building up my collection again currently.
Great vid, my psvita was my Persona 4 machine for about a year 🙂
Glad it's still getting some interesting Japanese releases as you say.
Erika you are becoming a star! Awesome presentation.
Love the vita! Can anyone tell me the best jrpgs for the vita? I
Also which are the best visual novels? I have the walking dead 1 and 2, wolf among as ,zero ascape!
You are So Awesome, Love Your All Vita Videos and For Me Vita is My Life
Love your videos!!! :3
Love my Vita. Just got Steins;Gate off eBay and it's great. My game suggestions for games that you didn't mention are "Gal*Gun: Double Peace" and "Hyperdimension Neptunia".
I subscribed because of this video.
I love your channel!!
:: thumbs up for more BigGiantCircles :: ... also, curious if you've ever thought about getting a PSTV?? .. I'd really like to get a copy ' Hexyz Force' .. looks right up my alley for turn-based RPG goodness
Its awesome you're JRPG maniac I love those games too. Though I haven't many of the ones you mentioned I did played the first God Eater on the PSP which was awesome I am dying play the sequel.
Erika Szabo I have the physical copy of Digimon CyberSleuth... I got it from play-asia. Are you excited for Danganronpa 3 (not the third person shooter that's out, there is an actual DR3 coming out)?
I bought a Vita at launch and within 2 seconds I knew this was the best handheld ever made. It's funny anyone who own a Vita loves it, people who don't are just missing out :). Great vid and I have subbed.
what exactly is vanillaware?
You do a REALLY great job journaling for subculture media: It's the reason I still stay subscribed and will always check out your channel from month to month. Both Telltale and Fables are DOPE, you can't go wrong with The Wolf Among Us. Does your sweater sleeve say, "some bunny loves you"?
'You're no bunny till some bunny loves you' lol
Just picked up a Vita two weeks ago in a trade, and i'm hooked! EB has been blowing out their games the last few weeks. I've successfully "hunted" close to 60 games in the last two weeks of owning the Vita. What do you recommend I start playing ASAP? I know P4G should be top of the list.
Where did she go?
Never heard of Hotline Miami till now. Looks great, thanks!
Awesome vid. I've recently dived back into Vita world after neglecting it for a while, it's such a great system. Japanese + indies = awesome. List time! Gonna avoid stuff Erika talked about for variety's sake.
Shout out to the indies:
Bastion, SteamWorld Heist, Rogue Legacy, Velocity Ultra & 2X, TxK, Hotline Miami 1&2, Severed, Guacamelee, Spelunky, the just released Darkest Dungeon, Shovel Knight, Thomas Was Alone, Volume, Axiom Verge, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Fez.....and hopefully many more awesome games to come like Cosmic Star Heroine and Heart Forth, Alicia. Vita is straight up an awesome way to play indies, they suit the system sooo well!
Got a couple nice racing games in WipeOut (R.I.P), Sonic Transformed, and NFS Most Wanted. Rhythm games too like P4: Dancing All Night, Superbeat Xonic and IA/VT (import game, totally playable).
It's funny you said the Danganronpa games are ones you play through once, as I was just thinking of replaying them! Mostly in anticipation for Danganronpa V3 though, I can't wait for that game. If someone is interested in the games, they're on PC and just announced that PS4 versions are coming too. But the Vita versions are awesome, just saying. Great use of Vita features, like the rarely used back touch pad. Speaking of VNs, Code: Realize just hit PS+. Beware, as it's like 3.3 gigs. X_x"
Shout out to Square Enix as well. Probably the last large scale company still making some retail games like the upcoming World of Final Fantasy. Shout out to smaller pubs like Aksys (I really want to get Shiren..), Marvelous, NISA...
Long live the Vita.
Oh, and it's still a fantastic way to play PS1 and PSP games, if anyone's interested in older stuff. :)
I'm gonna look up some of these games
Do you have the PSTV?
yes! i loved fables, great comic series. even read the side comics about jack lol just as good lol
What would you recommend the slim or the original
Kyle Thompson Original. It has a higher quality OLED screen.
HOLY SHIT you played Myst and Riven? Man you're like the second person I've run into that has also played it. Loved Myst and Riven, take my sub please :D
I got that Same exact Vita and SP. I'm currently playing Freedom Wars on my Vita. Pretty Fun Game.
Remarkably Bland if people were more vocal might be able to get a couple new games
Freedom Wars is killer! My very 1st platinum. I really loved it.
I love Persona 4,Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Shovel Knight, Binding of Isaac, Final Fantasy X, Hotline Miami - just to name a few. However, I wish Sony had done more with this system.
Honorable mentions; Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time, Hatoful Boyfriend, Code: Realize, Broken Age
The game I'd like to have retail the most is Darius G Burst! Importing the JP version is sooo expensive!
And I love all 3 Vanillaware games as well of course! And I picked The Wolf Among Us on Vita too even if I had already played it on PC. I agree: it's TellTale at its best!
Any recommendations?
Severed, The Swapper, Axiom Verge (not exclusive, but loved them a lot), Lumo, Yomawari: Night Aloe and from the PSP store, the whole Persona series (with P4G of course).
You can find steins gate on amazon. Physical copy too
You're spot on and such a great soothing voice!
have you picked up World of Final Fantasy recently? There's a PSVITA collectors group in FB (if you use FB) that not only do posts, comments, suggestions but also tips, and trades as well, highly recommended.
Soul Sacrifice is amazing; especially the newer version Soul Sacrifice Delta; you're gonna have a great time with that story!
Yo! The Digimon Cyber Sleuth English cart is legit, its the Asia version :) problem being is the DLC would require the Asia DLC not the US. Additionally the same is true for Gundam Breaker 3
I agree with your love of the vita and the niche titles. a lot of the games I buy are the niche ones; also even though I love my psp, ds and 3ds, with around 15 games for the psp, 19 for the ds, 17 for the 3ds, and 20 for the vita, I kind of like my vita collection more, it gives me a good balance of AAA titles (whose graphics come close to the ps3) with cheap to make but fun to play titles.
Huge JRPG guy here, Lost dimension, Trials of cold steel, criminal girls and so much more. got over 30 games and counting. cant wait for galgun and valkyrie drive
You perfectly summed up my love for the Vita... when it gets a triple A title, like KIllzone or DOA, it does them really well. But in addition, it gets a slew of amazing, quirky, unusual games that you would have a hard time finding anywhere else. I love Japan and Japanese culture, so of course, my Vita is beloved.
I think the Vita has a lot more life left in it than it may seem. It is odd that Sony hasn't publicly marketed the system here in the US, but it is still a hit in Japan. I got my unit in 2013 and have enjoyed the hell out of it, especially today. Your picks were great Erika! I'd also recommend Earth Defense Force 2, Killzone Mercenary ,Assassin's Creed Chronicles, Rollers Of The Realm, and Grand Kingdom.
I'd also likely buy The Wolf Among US again. I binged-played that on the PS3 and it was TREMENDOUS! I'd recommend the Batman TellTale game as well.
I traded my 3DS for a vita. And I really regretted it honestly. But I love the input as always!!! Keep up the good work!!
I recently just got a Vita a couple weeks ago and just got Odin Sphere and Dragon's crown. Odin Sphere is amazing! I don't know why I shunned the Vita for so long but I am happy I have one now!
Just by chance I'm watching this a few weeks from the release of 13 Sentinels, so thanks for the reminder.
Child of light on the Vita rocks,
Hiperdimension Neptunia 1,2, 3 and the U action unleashed
Disgaea
and besides that I have most of the games that you already recomended, like those of Vanilla Ware and Freedom wars.
Also there is a mini called Dokuro that is pretty fun.
Love the vita!
Sorry if it's already posted. But Digimon did actually get an English Language physical release in Asia. Well worth the import. :) And Steins Gate is really cheap in Europe. Check out Rice Digital.
I have been wanting to get a PSVITA. Id really want to play Persona. As I havent played any in the series.Good video as always Erika
Persona 4 Golden is a great reason to pick one up but there's so many other seriously cool games for it too. Highly recommend Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, as well as Danganronpa 1 and 2 if you like a good story.
All the eb games in my city stopped selling vita games like a year ago :(
I'm happy to know I'm not the only one who loves the vita. for the vita I went download only because I feel like I'd lose the cartridges because they are so small and paper thin. I bought a 64gb memory card from Japan to fit my 20+ games on it and I don't regret any cent spent on my vita. I love it so much.
In five years, people will treat the Vita like the N64. The N64 didnt sell fantastically well when it came out but now people rate it as one of Nintendos best ever systems. The Vita is astoundingly good IF you like Japanese games and JRPGs. Its an RPG monster to be honest and if thats your thing then you MUST buy a vita. If you are wanting western games like shooters and racers then you may be a little underwhelmed.
It should be noted that Muramasa Rebirth has arguably the best DLC ever. 4 new characters with extremely unique playstyles, skill trees, and their own story modes with new bosses and multiple endings.
Also, Soul Sacrifice Delta is basically an up-rezzed Soul Sacrifice with even more content, but unfortunately it's only available via download.
A few more games to add to your hunting list
-uncharted
-criminal girls invite only and 2 (2 comes out next week)
-dungeon travellers 2
-Tokyo ghost hunters
-trillion god of destruction
Corpse party
some of he games she mentiones that are "hard to find" in toronto or in the US in general such as stein's gate and cybersleuth are actually VERY easy to find... in the Philippines, that is. and not second hand. brand new, from a shop called datablitz.
I just imported Dragon Quest builders, and have SD Gundam G Generation Genesis pre ordered. I love my Vita.
love the vita too! favorite games include: persona 3 and 4, project diva, machinarium, steamworld heist, corps party (original) and patapon 1.
Love my Vita Slim and PS TV. I have the 3DS too and tons of great games for it, but I have to say, of the two Vita is my choice.
Love the Vita. I had to hunt cause I only have a 4GB card! Managed to pull this library off tho (MBs):
- Hotline Miami 1 (420)
- Dead Nation+Dlc (472)
- Guacamelee+Dlc (407)
- Axiom Verge (177)
- Rogue Legacy (436)
- Shovel Knight+Dlc (266)
- Salt & Sanctuary (185)
- Binding of Isaac (445)
- Geometry Wars 3 (100)
- Velocity Ultra (191)
- Don't Starve (220)
- Terraria (95)
- Retro City DX (24)
300 Mbs left.. take 100 for memory and I'm left with about 40 - 50 songs of choice. Pretty rad :)
The Vita is the best console I've ever owned. In fact, I have 2 Vita's, a PSTV, 2 64GB memory cards and a smaller one. I don't get people who think the Vita has no games; I have well over 200 Vita games, excluding PS+ ones. You definitely will find games that you like if you dig deep enough. Great video, btw!
Funnily enough, I just got my Vita today! :D
hey, Exist-Archive has just come out and you would *love* that! Dungeon crawler, spiritual successor to Valkyrie Profile. Runs and looks beautiful on the Vita.
Britta Stabenow Seriously?! We have it at my work.
Erika Szabo Lucky you, to have it at work! Assume that's the PS4 version. I'm playing the Vita version right now.
Long Live Vita!!!
Trails of cold steel is a must. would highly recommend it.
i agree all of what you said . its fun to have vita . i know some people played ps4 ps3 xboxshit pc which has some high end graphic games and they compare to vita which is handheld but a not so good in graphics yet its fun to have one.
Danganronpa are some of my favourite games ever but they're definitely games you only play once, so much of the enjoyment is from the mystery!
VITA game hunting in Toronto? I should try that!! I wonder where I can get a blue Vita
Never had a Vita, but between Steam, PS2, and my iPad I've luckily been able to play a lot of these games. Do most mobile gaming on my 3DS and iPad. FYI if you are looking for a mobile version of Steins;Gate, it is now on IOS. I think that is probably the best platform for visual novels because the bigger screen.
What about uncharted, Minecraft, borderlands and killzone?
Yeah, speaking of "cyber sleuth" it was a Vita exclusive in Japan (box etc) but then when it came out on the west they made physical copies for the PS4 only, and they did something worst for "next order" when it came out to the west it didn't even have a Vita version.
You need to play the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth games, they're a lot of fun. Start with the first one obviously :D
The Vita is my favourite system too! I originally only bought it because I wanted to play Corpse Party and Katamari but it's slowly become my favourite ^_^
-C
Cyber Sleuth is one of the many games to get a physical english release in Asia only much like Hotline Miami and Moero Chronicles. I'd recommend the Senran Kagura series (great beat-em up with fanservice though), the Hyperdimension Neptunia series (great characters and a variety of titles), Ar Nosurge Plus (RPG with great story), Ys Memories of Celceta (great action RPG), Cold Steel series (amazing rpg), Xblaze series (if you enjoy VNs), and some of the heavy hitters like MGS, Ninja Gaiden, and Rayman.
Digimon story is available on play-Asia. It's a an Asian English subbed import. A tad expensive, but if you want it physically, it is available. Plus you can't use the dlc as the Asia import isn't compatible with a NA pan account.
PSN
very excited for upcoming vita games includes dragon quest builders, final fantasy world, and berserk. hehe they wanted to go with 3ds but too bad he can't handle these titles.
I'm playing through Muramasa rn. Beautiful art style like anything Vanillaware throws out but with a traditional japanese art style flair. Every time the scenery in the game changes I say to myself "I could literally have this as a piece of art on my wall holy shit"
Man I love the vita as well and I don't have a favorite list yet but here is some games I recommend:
gundam vs force
gravity rush
lost dimension
the hyperdimension rebirth series
persona 4 golden
ys: memories of celceta
the collections of jak and Daxter, sly Cooper, and rachet and clank
hohokum
danganronpa series
orsheki: tainted bloodlines
freedom wars
I also really like how there is psp and ps1 games, got jet set radio, ff tactics.
hope many people give the the good old chance even though there hard to find. (P.S if the small percent of you guys have the PS TV it has its own merits as well, just imagine if the 3ds had one of those, just if you're playing the vita indoors)
peace out vita lovers ;)
Definitely hop on Cold Steel 1&2, starting off feels a little sluggish, but having plat'd both with a collective 250ish hours, it's among my favorite jrpgs. Up there with P4G, P3, FF6, CT, etc.
