That’s exactly what I love the most about photography. Long exposure at night. The feeling when you’re outside alone in the dark, looking for nice compositions. Feels so rewarding when you’re back home, looking at some descent pictures. All I can say, well done, you did a great job !
Whenever I see night time shots I'm reminded of O Winston Link and his black and white photographs capturing the last days of American steam trains but at night ! For the 1950's it was an incredible pioneering achievement.
I appreciate that you think differently than I do -- that you do is neither good nor bad, neither better nor worse than me. It is just different, and it makes me rethink the way I do my photography. Thank you for that. I appreciate your efforts, your knowledge, and your expertise.

BEAUTIFUL SHOTS . Question - im new to this… In these photos, please tell me where do u focus …? Infinity ??? Or 1/3 the way into the shot ,?? Or …??? THANK U PLEASE ❤
Great video Mark. After a many days I got inspired by watching. The background score was also very lively. Overall it was very dynamic. And about the the photos, they are just mind blowing, especially the shot that looks upwards to the buildings. But one thing. Why don't I see mask on anybody? Sorry if that bothers you. I am from India that's why asking.
I believe you might be mistaken when you stated setting your focal length to 9mm is equal to 18mm for a full frame camera. I think it works the other way around and equals 6mm on a full frame sensor. Different makes of cameras have different crop factors, but any sensor less than full frame converts the lens to a longer f number than full frame. Half-frame cameras usually convert by 1.5 or 1.6.
I thought I ought to comment on my above statement, I was wrong in assuming use of a half frame DSLR, I relies now that you were using a new mirrorless four thirds camera which as you rightly say converts to double the focal lenght of a full frame camera.
Nice video....would love to know if the pics were post processed? Or if the shots you got were the raw files? As a newb, my raw pics are lacking something, and it be good to know what makes them pop. Love your delivery, keeping it simple with technical talk.
Hi, yes they are processed in Lightroom. You can find out more details here www.theschoolofphotography.com/tutorials/settings-for-night-photography Thanks
David Green I guess sometimes yes and sometimes no. All depends upon the light-meter - Aperture- Tv - ISO looking at the millennium bridge pics, they looked super sharp. Were any of the final pics post processed or photo-stacked or something. I’d love to make mine pop like yours. The detail in the pillar was crisp. As I say, I am happy with my comps, but they just ain’t sharp, not sure if it’s focus, settings, camera, lenses or just a learning curve and I will figure it out eventually
Brian Brooking I think that bridge shot was bracketed by the look of it...but either way he’s been doing this for quite some time, he’s got a good lens and knows how to edit well. Quality glass is not gonna make you twice as good as you are now but it will help
Wind-up Kids that’s why I’m still using a beginners camera, as I want to be able to get the best from what I have and can afford. I am taking wee courses here and there, investing in myself first then equipment....still have a cropped sensor...
