Thanks so much for playing exactly the same thing for twelve minutes, it makes it so much easier to just focus on what's going on with the pedal. Great video!
I was instantly subscribed when you said „be ready for the same loop“. That is literally what I think sound demos are lacking. I mean shit, I love Knobs as much as the other guy, but the videos are more inspiring than actually informative. Love this, please keep on doing this.
I feel the same when people demo synths that can be used solo (obviously not in this case, as its an effects demo), but only show it in use with a bunch of other stuff
Thanks for this. I was looking for Zoia's disto/fuzz sounds and it seems that you're the only one covering this properly. (And yes, having the same loop to compare effects is perfect.)
Yeah man, great video! Certainly 12 minutes is NOT at all too long! I'd been somewhat interested in this pedal, even tho it's a little more complicated that what I'm used to, but this video was genuinely helpful. To other viewers: use headphones! Especially for those delays and reverbs. Cheers!
Not sure exactly what you want to modulate but, you can control other pedals with ZOIA using CV out from control port (if the pedals are 5V CV compatible), and you can use other expression pedals or CV sources to control ZOIA effects.
Roy Shen I like the modulations, maybe more than I expected! Chorus looks like it's going to be updated later and all the others are pretty versatile. Keep in mind that these effects I've shown here are just the simple "pre made" effects (and not ZOIA's most exciting offerings). If you don't like one of these effects, it is possible to create alternatives yourself. I don't have a lot of experience with Mobius, but it should be possible to recreate most or all of those sounds with ZOIA.
You must have had the HX amp and/or cab models set squeaky clean. Those dirt modules were gnarly and raw. I kinda like it. Could play some Bodysnatchers (Radiohead) with it. :)
TheParanoidAndroid79 yes, clean amp. I'm using the same preset on HX Stomp throughout the video. You can hear the amp sound in the beginning. I like these drives, too!
I do NOT understand, its an upgrate to the hologram or is it something different and new ? It says multi effects with 44 pads where you can do something and 3 switches you can do something more with, hehehe that is not explaining it.
I would have kept mine if the CHORUS had more bite, like the Roland Jazz chorus or the CE-1, or even CE-2, or Juno I/II. I massaged it to death including running no chorus in the left and quite wet in the right, etc. It's super subtle.
I can appreciate using the same riff the whole time but it wasn't the best riff for the overdrive demos. I still don't have a good sense if the digital overdrive is really usable. Thanks for the vid though it was good for the rest of the effects.
Frank Frank it is pricey. But the way i see it, you’re getting A LOT of pedal for 500 bucks. This thing can do so much and the possibilities are pretty much endless.
But this is like judging a guitar based on a demo of someone playing all notes from lowest to highest. I’m only showing simple (and pre-made) effects blocks here, which are intended to be used as building blocks to create your own sounds. Check out this video to hear some examples: ua-cam.com/video/tAsb9Xj4q38/v-deo.html
*completely modular guitar pedal with a shit ton of effects built in that can all be tweaked, customized, and chained together to the user's wildest dreams* Pedal makers everywhere are still trying to figure out what will appease Gvgvhk,.jg,.
If you start off apologizing for a lack of creativity, you've already lost a good chunk of any prospective viewers. If not, a repetitive uninspired riff played a multitude of times, with zero feel and dynamics should finish off the rest of anyone viewing this.
Well, I disagree (with the points in your initial comment as well) but thanks for taking the time to leave a comment with your criticism rather than just clicking dislike and moving on.
"Get ready to hear this loop for 12 minutes." - Steve Reich
Ah, nice. Minimalism jokes bear repeating.
Thanks so much for playing exactly the same thing for twelve minutes, it makes it so much easier to just focus on what's going on with the pedal. Great video!
Yeah, but he could have used a more melodically interesting loop.
Thanks, this is how demos should be made: no talking and playing the same thing over and over to appreciate the different effects

Love this, please keep
on doing this.
Thank you! Nice to know it is more helpful than boring :)
I love this demo and it's up to the players on how they will use it in terms of musicality.
I feel the same when people demo synths that can be used solo (obviously not in this case, as its an effects demo), but only show it in use with a bunch of other stuff

The Digital Lost thanks! Great to know it's helpful!
Thank you. What an incredibly helpful vid. 12 mins with this vs 2 weeks of me going down every Zoia rabbit hole. Much appreciated!
I could drift away forever. A must have for all dreamer nerds out there.
Super useful to hear, and appreciate the same riff all the way through to compare the sounds!
Nice....excellent rundown! Zoia is so vast, its great to only hear the effects.
Thank you!
Thanks for this. Much appreciated. This pedal sounds really good!
Thanks for this. I've been looking for something like this for a while.
Dang this pedal has so much! I bet with a little tweaking, those cab sims will dial in nicely.
Yeah I only used the fx modules on their own here without adding anything to tweak them. A lot can be changed with filters and EQs.
Very nice presentation! Is the mix dry/wet always 50%?
Thanks! I don’t remember (it’s been a while!) but I probably set them all the same.
Thanks for doing this. I have no way of trying this awesome pedal other than listen to it from youtube.
You are the freakin' man. Duty to society has been fulfilled, you're off duty for the rest of you life lol
that's not a pedal, that's a bliss
Do you know roughly how many major effects types can Zoia’s DSP handle simultaneously before it starts overloading?
Adams Brew I haven't tried it but I guess it would be able to run the equivalent of a moderate pedalboard.
As many as the processor will allow, the main window has a percentile on it so that you know your capacity per build.
Hey thxs for the walking through, I have a question, can you plug pedals to modulate parameters? thank you
Not sure exactly what you want to modulate but, you can control other pedals with ZOIA using CV out from control port (if the pedals are 5V CV compatible), and you can use other expression pedals or CV sources to control ZOIA effects.
@@DoNoise for example if I want to use the zoia as a wah pedal can I use a simple generic midi pedal and control filters?
@@pablocampos7029 Yes you can. MIDI and expression control can be mapped to parameters you want.
@@DoNoise thank u very much that was the only thing I was afraid it was missing.
Super useful! Many thanks
Helpful video, what's your take on the modulation effects versus stomp boxes or big box like the mobius?
Roy Shen I like the modulations, maybe more than I expected! Chorus looks like it's going to be updated later and all the others are pretty versatile. Super helpful....Thanks!
Does it have a wah or... would you program like an LFO and that's your wahwah?
Yes you can use an LFO. You can also connect an expression pedal and use it like a wah.
Thanks. This as helpful.
Nice

You might have liked it more if you added a vibrato in parallel with dry. That sounds better, in my opinion.
@@DoNoise interesting. I'll do some add'l research.
Digital OD/distortion is nasty and this box is no exception
Thats why i use it with a tube amp. I´m not a transistor distorsion guy either ;)
I can appreciate using the same riff the whole time but it wasn't the best riff for the overdrive demos. I still don't have a good sense if the digital overdrive is really usable. Thanks for the vid though it was good for the rest of the effects.
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I could have used something different in the drive part. Only thought of it long after I posted the video.
I'm not yet sure what to make of this pedal but I do know that if it's Empress Effects, it's going to be pricey (and it is).
Frank Frank it is pricey. But the way i see it, you’re getting A LOT of pedal for 500 bucks. This thing can do so much and the possibilities are pretty much endless.
My zoia failed in less than six months
Did you contact Empress? I’m sure they’ll help you out.
absolutely nothing special, and what's the price?

Seems like it’s been helpful to a lot of people. I think that’s good enough.
@@DoNoise I'm not sure if I would define 100 or so people as "a lot" on UA-cam. But hey, it just my opinion.
Well, I disagree (with the points in your initial comment as well) but thanks for taking the time to leave a comment with your criticism rather than just clicking dislike and moving on.
@@DoNoise Any time. Happy to help!! LOL!!
Why would a prospective buyer want to be distracted by somebody else's creativity? I want to hear the pedal, not the player.
