Haha this fight couldn't have been more obviously fixed if they tried..about as pre booked as Logan Vs LA knight. Tyson obviously was Jobbing for him, there's no advantage to Paul losing, Tyson gets a payday and Paul gets hype. I totally agree Tyson is 3 times his age, and don't doubt that Paul has skills, but I reeeeally doubt he'd let himself take a real risk against Tyson since it hurts his image. Logan has proven himself as great in WWE, but idk, there's way too much money on the line to leave it to chance, it's basically just WWE
Logan actually goes up against top dudes like Roman and Knight and does great, so if you are right about it just being "fixed" in the sense hes in lopsided fights, Jake is just embarrassing by comparison haha
Well yes, why would he fight professional boxes? He's not a professional boxer himself, he's a circus clown. He's not trying to show off his boxing skills, he's humiliating himself for money.
Napoleon Blownapart has a 90 minute video on "Circus Fights" (aka Freakshow fights) or fights where a boxer goes against a wrestler, 3-4 guys vs 1 guy, etc. Fights that are meant to sell tickets than be a completion. He ends with the Paul brothers, he gives them just enough props for calling out Dana White on fighter pay and even if the fights are rigged to lose, Paul does give them the money they need for, let's say, hip surgery. But then he rightfully calls Paul out on his many levels of exploitation, from the fighters, to his fans, to his young audience. But that's like 20 minutes. He goes into Jack Dempsey, Muhammad Ali v Antonio Inoki, Pride FC. It's really good and I recommend it.

@@ZelphTheWebmanceri have suspicion that some of the boxers in these lists are "journeymen". They often start as legit boxers trying to get a career. But after 2 or more losses they don't get promoted anymore.. so... they take on any fight they can get and... they might or might not lose some of them on purpose... but they are paired to lose. U can even find some of these guys cheer as if they won even when they lost. Cuz they get money from it. If they lose against a boxer that is promoted to have winstreak they are hired again. If they accidenally win against such boxer it might be last time anyone hires them. U can find footage about them being good at dodging and having decent form& technique... but they just aren't maybe giving their all. Its nasty how boxing federations and promoters work... i don't really see boxing as legit sport for this reason. The actual athletes can be legit yes but this system punishes way too harshly if you lose one too many times and only way to recover is either go on journean career or try the same route in different federation (or learn other martial arts and maybe ufc career). It is really hard to trust this system cuz some legit sportspersons are dropped way too soon.
As a HUGE Naoya Inoue fan, I CHEERED when you mentioned him!!! He never gets enough promotion or praise, truly the greatest boxer of the current generation.
Super Eyepatch Wolf's niche interests and talent for storytelling let him describe someone I've never heard of before and make me wonder why they're not a household name
@@vitoc8454it's also the fact that Naoya doesn't have any rivals nobody is a huge threat to him in his weight class so it becomes boring when you tune in and nobody presents a challenge to him
Jake beat a nearly 60 year old Mike (Who had surgery prior to the fight) and Jake flexes this as a major W of his career, Jake does not have the Guts to fight actual non retired Boxers
You can plainly see the point where Tyson quits fighting because he was on him and lighting Paul up then they tie up first round and suddenly Mike is calming down, pretty sure Jake broke him to quit if he wants to get paid
He did against Tommy Fury and Tommy exposed him. I’m not knocking on Jake. He’s actually a pretty talented boxer but someone at his skill level against legitimate pro boxers, he’s got a lot to learn.
The biggest satisfaction I feel is that besides the original annoyance that Jake Paul won, no one really seems to have cared all that much about the outcome of this fight. It wasn't a "Wow, someone finally beat Iron Mike!" reaction as much as "How sad that Jake Paul felt he accomplished something by beating a 58 year old man, who hasn't really been all that relevant to boxing for years now, just to stroke his own ego for a few minutes" reaction.
Yeah his legacy is that everyone was rooting against him. He can flip it any way he wants, him and his brother know that infamy doesn’t even come close to touching beloved fame.
Reminds me of vulnerable narcissism. Dude would rather face out of prime, out of shape former fighters just so he can stroke his own ego & live a lie that he's an actually good pro boxer than fight any ranked pro boxer who'd destroy him and reveal the truth. He'd rather appear good, than be authentically good. I mean a lot of ppl would do it just for the cash n maybe this is just one big grift for Jake, but can't help to think the dude actually gets off on stroking his ego like this. That's just weird behavior
@@texasbeaver8188 I think jake knows all that, he plays into the villain and asshole more than he already is so people will bet and pay to see him lose, but every fight he picks is calculated so he has the biggest chance to win even if the majority of people dont think so. In the process he looks like an asshole but make rivers of cash. Jake doenst care if people REALLY think he is legit or not because he would stop earning this much money if they did.
"Someone who works a 9 to 5 and STILL finds the time and spirit to train and compete... That deserves credit" Well said man ✌️🫡 Great video btw, it feels like a big love letter to fighting and martial arts in general, especially the 2nd part. I loved that part.
Really respect the fact you brought up Naoya Inoue as a comparison. Dude is legit as legit can be yet it’s the cold reality that someone who causes a fuss and noise like Jake Paul can bring in so much publicity
@@Gamingpandacat one of our perspectives are far too limited, unfortunately I can't tell which. I'm fairly sure people from Japan are more likely to know Inoue than Jake but I cannot say for sure. And even if they do know Jake it's probably just due to the monolith that is Tyson.
I know a lot of men who think any elderly man with military training can school a wayward punk like in a Tom Clancy novel. As a society we are completely dissonant with the reality of aging that we can’t face it
Except Mike was showing dozens of clips in the weeks before the fight showing his training where hes performing nearly identically to how he did in the 90's. While also going on about his improved diet and TRT. All that and being the former youngest world heavyweight champion, can you really blame anyone for thinking he was going to win? He wasn't just some random old man.
It is movie brain rot. Same thing thinking you have a chance vs multiple opponents or untrained women thinking they would have a fair fight against a man.
The Tyson interview after the McBride fight is just so affecting to me. He’s crystal clear, perfectly honest about his relationship with the sport. Love him.
Finally someone isnt blind to the situation. It actually really pissed me off that the consensus of the internet was basically that Mike Tyson would ruin his reputation and take a loss just for a quick buck. “but the training footage showed mike having explosive power he must have pulled his punches“. Those clips were precisely why I was so worried for Mike before the fight started. There wasnt a single one of them more than 10 seconds long. He simply cannot keep up that strength at that age
I mean, we agree there is no evidence of the matching being thrown, but realistically, is there a difference? Tyson was most aware of his situation. He took the bag knowing how it would end. I don't blame him for that, but as a boxing legend there is some pride that was spat on for this to happen. At the end of the day, it's not like he was forced to fight.
@ As much as I respect Mike i dont think he is the smartest guy out there. After all those shroom trips perhaps he thought there was a way for him to beat his age in that ring. Im sure some part of him truly believed he would win.
It drives me nuts that people hate Jake Paul but still allow him to be the heel. It's the one of the oldest tricks in the book, the only way to make him go away is to IGNORE HIM
The last 9 minutes of this video was the best message to end with. Recontextualizing examples of professional fighters, uplifting the spirit of fighting through the personal training of non celebrities, and then the gorgeous animated story for the merch! I feel so cleansed~
unironically i have to say: FUCKING THANK YOU. as a fight fan I have been dreading talking to my friends and family about the mike and jake fight as soon as it got announced. all of the discourse from people in the build up and aftermath was so frustrating for me to see. i really wish more people understood the true nature of these combat sports. i will be sending this video to some friends.

Jake Paul, the guy who only fights the retired and aging who haven't fought in years that he knows he can win against, he who will occasionally fight people who have never done boxing.
If you really want it in perspective; Jake Paul thought it'd be a legitimate fight against a man who had a boxing game when he was in his prime... On the Nintendo Entertainment System
Seeing the clip of Tyson walking with a cane broke my heart a little. The man can't fully stand on his own, yet you're pulling him into a ring to tank your punches? That's outright cruel.
He's also been a convicted criminal for, idk what's allowed in a youtube comment but having nonconsensual sex with someone. So I mean, he's done some really messed up stuff and I wouldn't say he has a great reputation that is deserving of this level of empathy. @ashiok Even regarding his reputation as a boxer, like the video said he kind of lost a lot of that reputation and respect 20 years ago by admitting he's just fighting to pay bills. As was also stated here he made a ton of money. Therefore, there is nothing truly cruel about this situation, he wasn't forced to do this. Nothing "pulled him into the ring" except a pay day lol. He isn't some helpless old man who doesn't understand what is going on
@@novum2915 While what youre saying is correct I have to nitpick you a little. It is sympathy that Tyson doesnt deserve. Your logical assessment, considering factors to determine ethical merit, is the realm of sympathy. It is what we offer, not what we feel. With that in mind, empathy is especially relevant here. We empathize with this old man, beaten and to some, humiliated. This criminal still wears shoes we can fit into, thus we are compelled by our nature to be considerate of his condition. He deserves little to no sympathy but he elicits a great deal of empathy.
Ive told folks this fore years. Its all Kayefabe. Paul is legit a high level athlete who's been training in boxing for half a decade. He's going to whip most humans who aren't real boxers. Or real boxers 30 years older
Yoooo I love your work, man! That said, how do you think this qualifies as Kayefabe? Is it just because he's prioritizing his image over anything related to his true skill level, or am I missing something in your take?

your passion for combat sports is genuinely so infectious. it's a topic so far removed from the things i like or care about but when i see a fighting related vid from you i know it's gonna be good good.
Your final comment about how people should get into fighting really touched me. I spent a decade of my life from 6 to 16 doing karate (specifically Tang Soo Do) and made it up to black belt before stopping due to life being busy. I’ve been considering getting back into fighting for a few years now that I’m an adult. I’m gonna look into again now and I’ll update this comment if I start again and do it consistently.
I'm on the opposite side! Into bjj (and hopefully mma soon) in my teen years. I think there's an incredibly odd nature to combat sports due to the weird relationship you can have with passion. With that in mind, be mindful in your practice! Good luck!
@noahpauley if your already a black belt in Karate, kickboxing would be a fast learning curve for you, plus ya know, sparring and opportunities for real amateur or pro fights.
I mean, the simple fact of the matter is Mike is a 60 year old man. You could tell watching it, Mike is the better boxer from a technical standpoint, and by far. Of course he is. He's Mike Tyson. He's been boxing and fighting his whole life. He grew up fighting. Jake grew up a sheltered white child actor who's only been doing this for fun for a few years and hasn't fought a serious pro yet. Mike's defense was on point, Jake got almost nothing through that really seriously hurt Mike. He hit him hard a few times, but nothing that really stunned him, let alone knocked him down. Unfortunately Mike had no legs. They say you never lose power and they're generally right, but he couldn't close distance to use it and his conditioning gave out within 2 rounds because, again, he is 60 years old. He gave it a good attempt, but you can't beat time.
You can see his knee buckle abnormally nearing the end of the first round, this being the second before he became stiff and slow. Age really does do a number on you
@@TruXavia Yep, age remains undefeated. The human body just ain't meant to box or compete professionally in something as intense as boxing at that age. You're pushing it at 50 and Mike was 10 past that. And I mean, hey, it's a credit to Mike that he did as well as he did. He did better than most of us could ever hope to at 60.
@@nooneinparticular5273 I'm reminded of the old Norse story where Utgard Loki sends an old woman to wrestle Thor, and though he tries valiantly he's utterly defeated because she's actually an incarnation of time, of old age, and not even the gods themselves could defeat such a thing in contest like that... If we can credit Jake with anything here, it's choosing his "ally" in the fight well.
I don't even think it's an age thing. I know people who are older than Mike who are good even by professional standards, my taekwondo master back when I was learning had a discipline and talent that far exceeded what was expected of a teacher, she was 58 years old at the time and shorter than 5ft4inch yet she would do double the push ups when counting out for the class and even though it was strictly light to no contact, I always got a sense that she was holding back tremendous power, to have her fist stop in front of your face was like being Genos in that scene in one punch man. She wasn't just teaching others she was trying to push her limits as well. I think it's more about a mental state and consistent training. Not only was Mike not training he was out of practice and in a bad mental state, at least that's how he comes across to me.
@GAHAHAHH It was definitely an age thing. Mike had been training very hard for this. He'd even gone in for special procedures and treatments to get himself in as good shape and as healthy as possible. And it definitely was not a matter of being out practice. Again, his defense was sharp and very effective. He simply didn't have the endurance or mobility needed to be a boxer because at 60, you can't control it. Some people are luckier than others, your instructor for example, benefitted from a couple things I suspect. For one, she was small. 5'4. Her body has much less wear and tear because she wasn't carrying much weight. Mike is and was a heavyweight boxer. He's not the tallest dude, but he is a powerfully built guy. She also benefitted from not doing pro boxing. Being in good shape is a different thing from being in shape for boxing or another pro sport. Boxing is a high intensity sport of bursts of exertion. Constantly moving. It's not just when you punch or block that you are burning energy. You're talking sparring, which I guarantee you Mike was doing. As for how hard you think she was punching, you're probably right. But I'm sure Mike was punching at Jake even harder. Because power doesn't really go away with age. Durability, agility, reaction time, those are the things that can dull. Impressive as she sounds, I guarantee you she was not the athlete at 58 that she was at 28. Same as this Mike Tyson at 60 years old, he was not the Mike Tyson of the 90s. You can fight age, you can hold it off, some do better than others, but no one wins that fight. Mike's legs were shot, his conditioming was gone and I am certain it was not due to lack of training. He was pretty public with how hard he trained for this thing.
My old man is 62 this year. He asked me to help him lift some metal tressels onto the back of his ute. It was at this moment that I realised he was getting old. While still physically fit and capable, he struggled. I heard him groan as he tried to lift. I'm not a particularly healthy male of 37, I'm not in shape, due to medical issues I have only, less than a year ago, had a hip replacement. I lifted my end with ease, no struggle whatsoever, but he.... he groaned with effort. I could kick the shit out of my old man now, but go back 20 years ago, I watched him punch on regularly due to alcoholism. Age beats everyone down.
"But, if you watch the _actual_ fight, what you get is eight rounds of Paul being dog walked." "Dog walked" is such a clever way of describing someone getting their ass beat.
Not just losing, but being ran laps around. I.e. the same way a dog can't really decide where it's going as it has to follow the owner who's got him on a leash.
Something me and my freind siad about this fight was if Jake Paul won the fight he jusr dragged a near 60 year old man out of retirement to beat on him and if he lost he ran his mouth and got beat up by Mike tyson so either way people would hate on him but it's that type of hate the generates the money for Jake
The best part if the video is not the Jake Paul stuff but the credit to us who train as fighters/boxers and try our best and still put our bodies through the ringer because we love this. Even if we do work a 9-5. As a 42 year old with a failing body, sight disability and just generally stressed and tired. I appreciate it.
I'm considering giving Jiu Jitsu a shot in the New Year. I was unsure if I'd be welcome in the space as a shy, out-of-shape girl, but this video gave me some much needed confidence - thank you!!
Definitely worth it, and a bunch of fun! Obviously people's experience can vary depending on the gym, but every BJJ gym I've been to has the nicest people. It'll work you though! Wrestling and BJJ are some of the most physically demanding sports I've done.
might be a local high school wrestling coach nearby that also has a gym, that was my case. They even had a woman's only class twice a week. have fun lady, explore your limits
A good bjj gym is very welcoming to anyone, I teach students at all levels of fitness, plenty of them having never done any kind of sport before and up to 69 years old! Go down and chat to the coach, if you like the vibe give it a go.
Absolutely give it a try! It's going to be hard, but so worth it in the end. It might be intimidating if the gym is mostly men, but they'll help you be the best you can be!
Bro, this might be my favourite video of the year! Not only dismentaling Jake, giving a reality check to everyone who thought that age is just a number in competetive sport but also showing what the real deal looks like. Mad respect - keep it up and have a great 2025 💫
Hey John, you're never going to read this comment. Im an MMA fighter in training. I had my first muay thai fight less than a week ago. I got my ass kicked. I'm 21 years old, I just dropped out of my community college that I've spent almost 3 years at. Im picking up another job soon and I'm gonna be going to a firefighter academy soon. I have no time or money or energy to train, yet im going anyways. I've got another fight in March, then I'm training for a big kickboxing fight hopefully by the end of the year. What you said at the end meant a lot, and I hope you go as far as possible in BJJ as possible. It feels impossible but we do it anyways.
Jake Paul, like many men, craves identity. Someone like Mike Tyson seems to have had his identity set by a grand fate-like God Himself etched his legacy in stone before time began. But Jake Paul’s life has been one that hasn’t been carved out of stone. His life and his legacy are snow. Because of his wealth and his team, he is able to shape that snow into an occasionally convincing castle. But his life has protected him from anything that actually required him to grow as a man. He has successfully created limelight-maybe that’s his legacy-but he hasn’t seen the sunlight. If he had, he would’ve melted by now.
I've learned to never underestimate this channel's ability to make me care about things I never thought I would have any interest in and this video is just more evidence of that
A lotta folks think to even be semipassable at MMA you have to basically be a title win boxer. They see "MMA" as the Boxer Prestiege Class, not as ANOTHER UNRELATED class entirely.
this is especially funny because I know absolutely nobody famous who transitioned from professional boxing to MMA okay maybe in the wild west days of the 90s when you just had eight randos in a tournament

@@youtubeuniversity3638 Yes, his name is Alex Pereira, and he's kind of a big deal right now, to put it mildly. So was the guy who was considered his rival, Israel Adesanya, until just recently. Yeah, they may be idiots in a lot of ways, but much like Trump, they are good marketers and understand how to play to their audiences. They have genuinely good ""political"" instincts. They see the way the wind is blowing before others, and based on that, they make moves. Then the wonks say "this is stupid. Why would they do this?" Only for them to end up being totally right and it working in their favour. Their one weakness is in the cases where their instincts are wrong and they are put of balance is really hurts them. Like the Suicide Forrest incident. But they both refuse to tap out, they weather the storm, knowing in social media and the 24 hour news cycle, people will be on to something else in no time. To be clear, I hate Trump, and I hate the Paul brother, but I don't underestimate them like others do.
Try? Maybe Successful? Noone is more disliked, every once "public" person that entered politics, from Reagan to even Trump, was loved before making the transition The Paul brothers wouldn't stand a chance

Honestly the best way to describe Jake Paul as a fighter is to compare him to Drake as a rapper. They’re both more or less just fine at what they do, but are loud and obnoxious enough that people who aren’t that deep into boxing/hip hop won’t know how mediocre they actually are.
Those clips of Muhammad Ali are a fantastic reminder of just how much his fighting was poetry in motion. Also, the segment on Naoya Inoue had me cackling. He looks like a fun boxer to watch.
Inoue looks like he doesn't exist in the same timestream as the rest of us. Slow motion footage and yet his fists are moving a little bit slower than normal speed.
The end of this video made me want to find a dojo again. I did judo for a few years in college. I never had a desire to compete or anything, but what you said about fighting helping you push your limits is so spot on. I did things I never thought I could do, found a confidence in my body I never thought possible. I wrestled (literally) with my claustrophobia and came out on the other side so much calmer. And there’s a camaraderie that comes with a good dojo that’s almost impossible to replicate anywhere else.
your videos are always so comforting to me. even the ones that are creepy and offputting, even the ones that seem unrelated to anything else. you just have a way to make the world seem ok. thank you for doing what you do.
I liked that part about age you snuck in there. This could’ve been a 3 hour video about fear of aging and death in which you talk about cryopreservation and bryan johnson.
You're one of the most powerful storytellers I've ever witnessed and I would gladly watch anything you put out because you never fail to set up serious hype.
Essentially, Jake Paul only challenges people who are either not boxers or well past their prime. Usually both. It's rather telling that he doesn't do competitive boxing.
I'll be honest, I wasn't going to watch a video on Jake Paul and Tyson boxing, but then I saw it was a Super Eyepatch Wolf video and I clicked instantly! Your videos are always amazing and I'm settling in to watch now. ❤

Thank you for making this video. It’s been painful listening to normal folk who don’t know how sports and fighting work speak without thought on this subject and you listed all the things i been saying to people for a while.
I havent finished watching but just for context, Anderson Silva, Spider, was primarily known for his front kicks, he was a taekwondo guy before UFC. Not only that he snapped his ankle in a fight, you could see his limp foot wobbling from the bone, and he never truly recovered, then he retired. He was 48 years old when he fought Jake.
perfect choice of a video subject that is popular but also fits the youtuber to a T: someone who fights, loves wrestling, loves martial arts manga and who really cares to dissect both the fight and the media strategy of the "social media thing". I love your videos in general, but there're some that are way closer to your artistic voice than the others, and this is one of them. It has a powerful heart in it.
Its not just age. Boxing really isn't good for your brain in general. Tyson on TV is one thing, but my dad once met him in a bar on St. Lucia and told me that he literally could barely string 2 sentences together. And that was 10 years ago.
I thought he did/does a lot of weed too, which is maybe partly to blame, and more so I'd speculate he may have a lot of undiagnosed mental problems fundamental and learned, in a more compassionate world he might of ended up in a special-education and therapy program rather than a boxing-ring. Not to say I don't think having his brain rattled around his skull did him any good beyond the financial.
I remember watching your Ippo video and being a bit sad when you said you didn't like boxing, and it made me smile seeing you've taken it up. Also I very much appreciate the use of Tekken 4's "fetus" music in the opening of the video, inspired choice.
Your merch drops are some of the best creative endeavors i have ever had the pleasure of witnessing. I am enamored by the choice of telling a story through clothing. You are a fucking amazing artist.
It was like Whitebeard vs the Marine. Whitebeard was nearly dead and it still took all of them and a betrayal and he was holding back trying not to destroy the freaking world.
Great video. I'd like to point out that this applies to pretty much every competitive sport. A common and obviously-similar example is in what I call "fighting game purgatory," in which you're better than all your friends, so nobody in your clique wants to play you. But you're also worse than all the big tournament players in your area, so you can't fit in there either. Paul is basically capitalizing on the fact that he can consistently beat his friends on the couch in a game they all play, and can beat pro players in a fighting game they don't play much. You could also apply this to good vs pro musicians, native vs non-native speakers of a given language, etc. You hit the nail on the head in your analysis of how the metric itself of his skill is being kept intentionally easy to misunderstand. I'm glad you made it easy for people like me who know nothing about fighting to see so clearly.
24:58 This actually makes me upset, as a African-American Mike Tyson has always been a important figure to me. So to see that someone like Jake Paul with his background fight 60 year old Mike just feels wrong, and makes me feel like the white man will always come for us in the end to take our power. Dats jus me doe.
im glad the video ends with propping up someone and not letting it stay a "tear down" video also i GASPED at how fast that guy punched at 33:45. terrifying.
Bjj is a lifelong hobby of mine (I’m incompetently trying to start boxing too) and it brings me so much joy to have a UA-camr that I think writes and argues so well discussing the martial arts world. I’m a woman and there’s a lot of misogyny in the bjj world unfortunately, so I find it hard to find people I can listen to covering the topic without risking getting burned by an off hand misogynistic comment. When you talked about trying boxing in the Versus Wolves podcast and falling in love with it, I decided to give it a shot. I'm about 2 months in now and absolutely love it, and can't thank you enough for describing why it's so enjoyable as my otherwise inactive, unhealthy ass wouldn't have considered it. And I remember how deflated the gym was when Mike Tyson lost this match, but the only person that had a feeling Jake would win was our 50-something trainer that understands the ravages of time. It's kinda impressive how well Tyson did despite everything.
I'll never forget hearing you say that martial arts is a means for the weak to rise up. Especially in a world which is only getting more dangerous for people of my identities and more, fighting is not only necessary, but a point of pride, to look at the world and say, "You want me dead and I'm not dying." It's special, and you continue to remind me of why I want this

Great video! As a normy I definitely wouldn't have known the way this was all set up, it was super interesting (as usual, haven't missed yet). Also, holy shit, that Eyepatch Wolves commercial went HARD
damn, dude ended the year with a banger. I thought I wouldn't care for this video, but his passion and insight shone through (shone through? shined through?) once more. if you're reading this john, merry christmas and happy new year! I hope you get to take it easy for at least a while now
Never thought I'd watch a video about Jake Paul but here I am. Also, regarding the final segment. I know you were talking about fighters who deserve their flowers, but don't sell yourself short. It's easy to see how much you love fighting, and the work you've put into it.
Comment before finishing the vídeo so I don't forget: As a person who has, even by short time, trained in boxing (just train, never fought) and someone who has spent most of their adult life studying human physical health, I can tell that no, these matches are no fakes as about the punches thrown, but, it is blatantly obvious that they are incredibly one-sided. To put into perspective, not only as John said, he (Jake Paul) is fighting people in a way that they lose most of their key tools, he also is taking a massive advantage just by age alone (not even counting the material conditions that he has over some of his opponents), yes, he could get knocked down, it is possible but, not likely, he made sure of that. So, he may never lose unless he fights an actual boxing professional who is currently active.
There's something with both this and how many people now are quick to say things like that science is fake, or that elections are fake, or whatever--people don't know how to actually evaluate fakes in every field, which is itself fine! But they THINK they do, so they don't ask experts or even people with just slightly more knowledge. And it's not just a conservative thing or whatever--I've had to correct people before claiming that some image was "obviously" AI when it was actually obviously not. These are people in my camp and they're still wrong in a way that frustrates me. (And sometimes discourages real creators!) Culturally we need more of a thing where people go, "Hey, people who know, does this look fishy to you?" and then invite that discussion, instead of getting invested in the conspiracy before the debunking gets its boots on.
Me, remembering watching a Tyson fight with my uncle in the 80s and him exclaiming "That kid is brutal!". Me, at 52 hearing Tyson is fighting Jake Paul... "He's still alive!?"
John... I'm watching this while I'm pushing through getting my thesis film in animation, after my 9-6 full time job, and tucking my 2 children to bed. This video, hearing this, while it boils my blood what Jake Paul's doing, this video also helps me feel like im not the only one fighting against the odds and still pushing to make their dream come true... Thanks man.
Super dope video, loved that. Also I am highly impressed with the merch. To creators merch is often times just a, slap a logo on the hat or t-shirt affair. The fact that you've gone out of your way to create a narrative for your designs is so unique and great. Great work, keep it up!
Shoot, the only sport in which it _might_ be impressive for Jake Paul to beat someone in their late 50's is golf. The least spectacle-oriented sport imaginable.
Holyfield getting clipped at 58 gave us a pretty good answer. Boxers can go from world beating to shot by the time they hit their late 30’s People expecting a 50+ year old to look good were deluded
So Basically, either: - Jake Paul won a rigged fight with Mike Tyson - Jake Paul beat the shit out of a old man (with difficulty) and streamed it wonder which is the better option

The girls boxing beforehand WAS EPIC!! Spit take, after spit take. Honestly the coolest fight I’ve seen.

You are the exact kind of person Jiu Jitsu was meant for
might be a local high school wrestling coach nearby that also has a gym, that was my case.
Mad respect - keep it up and have a great 2025 💫
34:01 that throat punch made me physically recoil... this dude is terrifyingly fast. Monster for real
I can imagine that's how Little Mike looks like to his opponents in Punch Out...
Good luck on your fight journey brother 🫡✌️
May the Gods of Combat Sports and Martial Arts be with you whenever you enter the ring 🙏✊
May Guan Yu follow your trails with His blessing, dude.
Good luck, dude.
You are now the chosen one. We will support your career if you train to kick Jake Pauls ass.
@thatfunkadeus im training for bantamweight fights so I'll try my best to kick Suga Sean's ass 😁

I've learned to never underestimate this channel's ability to make me care about things I never thought I would have any interest in and this video is just more evidence of that
0-1 against fighters without osteoporosis, needing hip replacement surgery, old enough to be his dad etc. The new age of freak show fights lol.
A lotta folks think to even be semipassable at MMA you have to basically be a title win boxer.
They see "MMA" as the Boxer Prestiege Class, not as ANOTHER UNRELATED class entirely.
this is especially funny because I know absolutely nobody famous who transitioned from professional boxing to MMA
okay maybe in the wild west days of the 90s when you just had eight randos in a tournament
@@MCArt25 Y'know anyone who transitioned from ANY non-mixed martial art to mixed martial arts, period?
If so, have any of them managed even just minor fame?
@@youtubeuniversity3638 Yes, his name is Alex Pereira, and he's kind of a big deal right now, to put it mildly. So was the guy who was considered his rival, Israel Adesanya, until just recently. Also, there was once a handful of guys named Fabricio Werdum, Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, and Demian Maia who were all considered among the very best in the world at their respective weight classes in MMA. And lastly, perhaps most significantly, there was an Olympic gold medalist who transitioned to MMA named Henry Cejudo who had some astonishing success.
I'll let you look up all of those guys and what the martial arts they transitioned to MMA from were, but suffice it to say, yours is an astoundingly ignorant comment.
@@BestWayKilla ...dude. I literally asked questions.
And you're not even gonna tell what they transitioned from? Literally the thing that qualifies them as answers to question one? Seemingly because you're throwing a tantrum over someone asking two fucking questions?
@@youtubeuniversity3638 alot did actually. Holly Holmes went from boxing to MMA and won the women's championship
20+ years watching the circus that is combat sports, this is the best break down of the tricks used in fight promotion I've seen. Wonderful video, you've done a favour for fight fans everywhere.
This is THE best and MOST accurate video on the subject. If you know martial arts he’s DEAD on the money with his take. And he made it simple for everyone to understand. Fantastic video!
Mark my words. Both Logan and Jake Paul will enter US Politics at some point and be ridiculous successful in it. For better or worse
We've finally reached the plotline of Idiocracy. Instead of Gatorade, people will use Prime to water their plants
Holy shit. THEY'RE 2 DIFFERENT PEOPLE????
Try? Maybe
Successful?
Noone is more disliked, every once "public" person that entered politics, from Reagan to even Trump, was loved before making the transition
The Paul brothers wouldn't stand a chance
Trump was considered a conman and widely disliked before entering politics only being "liked" in that some people enjoyed the shaudenfraud of seeing some people fall for his scams. @@KaoticReach1999
Honestly the best way to describe Jake Paul as a fighter is to compare him to Drake as a rapper.
They’re both more or less just fine at what they do, but are loud and obnoxious enough that people who aren’t that deep into boxing/hip hop won’t know how mediocre they actually are.
Well said
Omg this is such a good comparison 🙌
Those clips of Muhammad Ali are a fantastic reminder of just how much his fighting was poetry in motion.
Also, the segment on Naoya Inoue had me cackling. He looks like a fun boxer to watch.
Inoue looks like he doesn't exist in the same timestream as the rest of us. Slow motion footage and yet his fists are moving a little bit slower than normal speed.
Step 2: Have Logan’s younger, creepier little brother Jake ask you to paint HIS mansion
5. Buy a dunk tank
I knew it was over when they showed Mike “Baddest Man on the Planet” Tyson’s bare ass on live television.
The fact that "NIGGA ASS COIN" made millions while I'm working retail still sticks with me
Yeah...that was a weird moment
@ Watching this fight with my dad and his lifelong friend, They were left more than stunned at that.
The human race peaked there
That was the best part of the show
Im so paranoid that this is another Space Jam 2 is a Lie

your videos are always so comforting to me. even the ones that are creepy and offputting, even the ones that seem unrelated to anything else. you just have a way to make the world seem ok. thank you for doing what you do.
I liked that part about age you snuck in there. This could’ve been a 3 hour video about fear of aging and death in which you talk about cryopreservation and bryan johnson.
I wish it was 😭
I came in skeptical, but honestly you broke this down so well that by the end I was convinced and saddened.
You're one of the most powerful storytellers I've ever witnessed and I would gladly watch anything you put out because you never fail to set up serious hype.
Essentially, Jake Paul only challenges people who are either not boxers or well past their prime. Usually both.
It's rather telling that he doesn't do competitive boxing.
this video was amazing, i've never thought about using the quality of a boxer's opponents to measure there true skill. very good observations!!!
I'll be honest, I wasn't going to watch a video on Jake Paul and Tyson boxing, but then I saw it was a Super Eyepatch Wolf video and I clicked instantly! Your videos are always amazing and I'm settling in to watch now. ❤
That was a great, approachable breakdown. I have friends who were upset about the fight; I'll send them this video!
Napoleon Blownpart was easily my favorite channel find of 2023 and dude just keeps getting better.
i'm crying at the inoue part he's the best and im tired of people discounting smaller weight-classes! thanks john!!! ❤
Really love that you're able to talk about not just video games but martial arts and combat sports blending both of my passions. All while remaining humble on the matter, keep making what you enjoy man, it shows!
It's embarrassing; Paul is straight-up drafting opponents out of hospital recovery rooms
perfect choice of a video subject that is popular but also fits the youtuber to a T: someone who fights, loves wrestling, loves martial arts manga and who really cares to dissect both the fight and the media strategy of the "social media thing".
To be fair, was he drinking a bit? Cause that might not help
He seemed pretty coherent on literally every podcast he's been on man
well im also pretty non-verbal when i smoked 3 joints and drank a bottle of whiskey
Have you heard his podcast? He sounds punchy as hell
I remember watching your Ippo video and being a bit sad when you said you didn't like boxing, and it made me smile seeing you've taken it up. Also I very much appreciate the use of Tekken 4's "fetus" music in the opening of the video, inspired choice.
Another banger from super eyepatch wolf. Your chillingly Irish voice regales us once again. Thank you.
I love, that John still refers Jake Paul as “Social Media Thing”. It is honestly the best name to describe this kid :)
If you actually sit down and watch a Jake Paul fight. You can only blame yourself
Are you touched in the head? They both made millions doing this and nobody forced the geriatric to come back and do it
im glad the video ends with propping up someone and not letting it stay a "tear down" video
also i GASPED at how fast that guy punched at 33:45. terrifying.
I DID THE EXACT SAME THING
Bjj is a lifelong hobby of mine (I’m incompetently trying to start boxing too) and it brings me so much joy to have a UA-camr that I think writes and argues so well discussing the martial arts world. I’m a woman and there’s a lot of misogyny in the bjj world unfortunately, so I find it hard to find people I can listen to covering the topic without risking getting burned by an off hand misogynistic comment. Thanks for providing that.
I was lucky and my first BJJ school had a multiple time women’s world champion black belt teaching and we had a LOT of women on our team. I’m sorry you’ve had some tough environments but I promise you there are good gyms out there!
@@JohnnyGoodBehavior my gym is pretty good and we also have had our fair bit of women world champions. It’s just some offhand comments by some newby coaches and training partners at gym level. I’m mostly thinking about content creators and UA-camrs and stuff.
BJJ and boxing is a deadly combo
You are one the best storytellers in the world. Whenever you upload it genuinely lifts my mood before I've even started watching
The fact that he can't fight someone unless he knows he'll win only makes him more pathetic than if the fights were fixed.
Came here knowing nothing about boxing but thanks for showing a light on genuine incoming fighters at the end of the video, gonna check them out for sure.

"Sonetimes things are just the way they are... and it sucks."
I'm gonna frame this.
This event was basically the sports equivalent of what’s going on in film, the culture of the 80s and 90s being recycled over and over
damn, dude ended the year with a banger. I thought I wouldn't care for this video, but his passion and insight shone through (shone through? shined through?) once more. if you're reading this john, merry christmas and happy new year! I hope you get to take it easy for at least a while now
No one talking about the SICK promo at the end. The SUPEREYEDPATCHWOLF universe is looking amazing!!
Never thought I'd watch a video about Jake Paul but here I am.
Also, regarding the final segment. I know you were talking about fighters who deserve their flowers, but don't sell yourself short. It's easy to see how much you love fighting, and the work you've put into it.
Comment before finishing the vídeo so I don't forget:
As a person who has, even by short time, trained in boxing (just train, never fought) and someone who has spent most of their adult life studying human physical health, I can tell that no, these matches are no fakes as about the punches thrown, but, it is blatantly obvious that they are incredibly one-sided.
(And sometimes discourages real creators!)
Culturally we need more of a thing where people go, "Hey, people who know, does this look fishy to you?" and then invite that discussion, instead of getting invested in the conspiracy before the debunking gets its boots on.
This was a much more in-depth, emotional video than I ever would've expected. Well done, man.
Me, remembering watching a Tyson fight with my uncle in the 80s and him exclaiming "That kid is brutal!".
Me, at 52 hearing Tyson is fighting Jake Paul... "He's still alive!?"
Money is truly a powerful tool.
Until one isn't alive to see it or counter it anymore.
yea the only hard counter to money is death, which is why all the tech bro billionaires are obsessed with the search for immortality
Holy shit, this video is amazing. You are actually so cracked at making high quality videos. I love it. Keep up the good work.
Thanks man.
social media "thing" gets me
Super dope video, loved that. Also I am highly impressed with the merch. To creators merch is often times just a, slap a logo on the hat or t-shirt affair. The fact that you've gone out of your way to create a narrative for your designs is so unique and great. Great work, keep it up!
By being half his age. That's how. Boxers are in their prime when they are younger, that is just generally fact...
Fighting retirees with health issues is Paul`s entire thing.
The one time he fought a legit boxer his own age he lost.
He`s a scummy pathetic coward.
That's dumb. Tyson would have won if he had fought. He did not fight.
Shoot, the only sport in which it _might_ be impressive for Jake Paul to beat someone in their late 50's is golf. The least spectacle-oriented sport imaginable.
@@Jobocan. How good a fighter do you expect to be in your late 50s?
Holyfield getting clipped at 58 gave us a pretty good answer.
Boxers can go from world beating to shot by the time they hit their late 30’s
People expecting a 50+ year old to look good were deluded
Love your promotion of martial arts on this channel mate. Keep making great content like this, can’t wait to see more

- Jake Paul won a rigged fight with Mike Tyson
- Jake Paul beat the shit out of a old man (with difficulty) and streamed it
