    Lovely hair!!! To summarize, you never breaded and banded, you typically wash every week, you use conditioner and you wait more than 8 weeks between reties. All taboo in the loc community. Yet your hair locked nicely and looks gorgeous. I am taking notes.

      Yes! you've got it all right haha. The take-away is listen to your hair and not arbitrary rules others have set. My hair doesnt grown fast enough for monthly reties, so I let it take its time to get to an inch of new growth (also less tension on the scalp is a plus). My hair gets brittle without conditioner, so I use it. And my hair never unraveled when it got wet so I didn't braid and band. Just pay attention to how your hair is feeling and ignore everything else 🤷🏽‍♀️

    Your hair is GOALS!! Absolutely stunning. You’ve done an amazing job from beginning to now. Steam is definitely life for hair! Why did you put the shower cap on first? Seems like it would stop your hair from getting the steam. Thank you for doing an updated video! Blessings.

      I do have a question about that shampoo… I know you used to sometimes use the Dr Bronners… what benefits do you feel you got from the DE shampoo vs DB? Does one stimulate hair growth and promote retention more than the other?

      just make sure to use a watery one and to not be too heavy handed with product and you should be okay!

    Glad to see you had a good experience with the steam cap. I recently purchased one (different brand) and was really impressed with the results but wasn't sure if I should still get a full steamer next year.
    Conditioners isn't an issue for those of us with microlocs especially if you wash your hair properly with DE shampoo on regular basis. The problem some have is the brand they use and their heavy handedness with those thick products.
    If you're not ready to get a Rev Air then get a seated dryer so you can do 30 minutes and not sit around with a wet head all day.
    Your hair looks beautiful. Enjoy your down time from school this holiday season!

    Couple questions 1 do you ever do a deep conditioner treatment or protein treatment? If so how often and what products? 2 do you use a rinse out conditioner right after shampooing (not a deep conditioner)? 3 how often do you spray water on your hair? Or oil your hair? Or use leave in conditioner? 4 when you were loose natural, did you always go conditioner first then oil? Do you notice any differences with locs with what order? 5 do you ever use aloe Vera water? Or rose water? Or rice water?
    Sorry for so many questions lol

      ive been using conditioner since the beginning, but if your hair texture is looser, it might be best to let them loc up a little before using leave in, which might cause slippage in certain hair textures.

      it feels like the cotton hair that used to be on those dolls with yarn hair. but when it gets dry it can feel as hard as a brillo pad. All depends on how moisturized it is at the time (similar to my loose natural hair)

    • @NapsAreTheNewBlack

    • @NapsAreTheNewBlack
      @NapsAreTheNewBlack  6 місяців тому +1

      thanks! The steam lifts the cuticles (particularly on low porosity hair) and allows water into the hair shaft for better/longer term moisture retention
