JBHEITZ hi, glad you enjoyed the video. The needle sometimes does get a little gunked up but as I am sewing I just wipe it down. It’s really never given me any trouble. Thank you so much for watching.
Love it!!! I would like to make a very similar notebook but with cotton fabric instead of paper. Can i use modge podge to glue fabric with faux leather?
Beauty by AnaBel J Hi! Thank you so much for watching. I used a regular needle on my sewing machine. And you can pretty much select whatever stitch you’d like. It depends on the size of your journal. All I did was select a scrap piece of fabric/ faux leather and select the type of switch I liked- the length and width. And then just use that on the journal. Hope this is helpful.
I am having a terrible time trying to find elastic......what size elastic do you use and where do you get it...I went to JoAnnes, Michaels, Hobbyn Lobby and Walmart and none of them had the heavier elastic cord... I know I can buy it on Amazon but I'm not sure if I should get 2mm or 3mm Please and Thank you in advance....
Hi Claudia, I get elastic from Joannes. But often they are out of stock. So I have been getting it on Amazon. The measurement of the elastic is actually 2mm. Hope this helps. TFW!
Very nice! But I have a question: Is there any specific reason you put the leather on the inside rather than the outside? I'd really like to make one, but I think I'd rather have the leather on the outside.
Roni Jones Hi Roni I actually make them on the reverse as well. I just enjoy the colors and textures of the paper most of the time. But I do both. TFW!
Can you please answer a question of mine? I put the modge podge on the paper and when it dried it looked really uneven and streaky. Is there any ways of fixing this issue? Thank you.
Ruth Keeme Hi, unfortunately when you apply the Modge podge at first you have to go back and make sure that it doesn’t have any streaks. It will dry exactly the way you leave it. This has also happened to me. I also tried sandpapering it down. Didn’t help. Hope this was helpful. Thanks for watching.
Kellie Walker hi Kellie. The paper has held up very nicely especially due to the layers of treatment that I put on as you see in the video. I have gotten no complaints about it. Thank you for watching.

Does the glue even while dried, gunk up your machine needle? This is the best tutorial I’ve seen! Totally my sense of style!
