Thank you for posting this cheerful symphony in this medium. I'm well-accustomed to #s 5, 6, 7 and 9 (and to an extent #3), but I need to get used to the others, and this is a good way. I particularly liked how this director segued attacca from set 2 into 3 and then 4. The more I gradually (re)discover Beethoven, the more I'm convinced that he's not just a musician, but also a magician!; he never seems to exhaust his bag of tricks! Again, many thanks! JAT😊😊😊
Although this conductor is German, he emphasizes melody, much like Cladio Abbado. In the 20th century, it was common for German orchestras to have conductors from German-speaking countries, but these days there are fewer of them. Music is something that transcends national character, and is also where national character is most expressed. The traditions that composers pass on to their country's performers are genetic and cannot be imitated in other countries.
Danke dass es Euch gibt, DANKE !!

Is applause between movements at all common in Germany?
No usually it isn’t
I find your practice of truncating the applause infuriating. The audience reaction is, IMO, an integral part of the concert experience.
