Duster was a proper 4x4 SUV. Whereas Creta is not and that's where Creta gave birth to new SUV segment.

    • @gauravdevrani4298

Technically the ecosport did...yeah Duster came first but Duster looks like a proper SUV rather than a compact SUV.....Eco sport was the starting of boom in that compact SUV(hatchback on steroids) segment....sadly it got left behind
With hyundai doing exactly what Maruti failed at.....pinching the weak pulses of Indian buyers and giving them wholesale features and demanding 1.5 times the price of what the car is actually worth just due to features that are gimmicky.
Coz Maruti can't afford to increase the price by even 50000 but Hundai successfully managed to increase it by lakhs.
To put it into perspective the base model of creta is around 12 lakhs and the top model is around 22 lakhs which means that the price difference of options in the top model and base model is almost closer to the price of the base model car which is quite shocking.

Skoda Kushaq is the best car in this segment. Much better than Seltos and Creta in terms of power. Stability at high speed, no body roll, mileage. Very strong build quality, and if I talk about maintenance cost, that too is well-taken care of in this model. The yearly maintenance cost is around lesser than my previous car(Swift).

The title of the video should have been "3 Cars people wont buy, but we are enthusiastic to sell". Seriously, I don't understand the point of bringing into the comparison the petrol Creta and Seltos. Do people even buy them? The sales volume in this segment is dominated by the diesel models (At least for the two). If Skoda can't offer a diesel, it is their problem. Making a 34 Min long video won't solve it.

I love the fact that skoda offers a Manual with their potent engines. Should become standard practice across the board with the kind of weather & traffic we live in.
DCTs though fun on straights aren’t always reliable, not so much fun into corners, good ones cost a ton to manufacture and having to babysit them is so counter intuitive!
Those stupid IMTs & AMTs need to go away from anything that’s advertised “sporty” & especially north of 17-18L OR!!
That said would love to see OEMs turn to employing better Torque Converters on premium offerings as well just like BMW.

Donot go for DSG if you are from metro cities. Keeping the driving dynamics of DSG and reliability in stop and go. Uphill issues, jerking at low speeds. Torque converter is more reliable. Though it’s little less fuel efficient , but that is the way. DSG though it’s responsive, in sedate driving, it behaves weird, it holds revs during uphill ascent beyond 3000 rpm. Yes VW & Ford had bigger problems in their 1st gen twin clutch systems, but that is a thing of the past. After completing the spiti trip we are stuck in Manali from past two days..our 4months old Mahindra Thar got towed due to some OBD Check Lamp warning from Batal, Spiti..the car is not able to pull beyond 1500rpm. The Mahindra service center tried to reduce the soot mass for last 2 days and now they are saying ordering a DPF filter is going to take another 7-8days and we will have to wait for it. Also they are saying fault is with us as we didn't do Regen while we didn't get any Regen warning.
They are also saying they can't share the regen data if the warning came and for how long ,even after 2 days of analysis.
DPF filter costs 70k and doesn't come under warranty. Even we were ready to pay just to join office in time, but now they are saying it will take 7-8days to get the DPF filter. At around 20 lakhs, you get electric seat adjustment, panaromic sunroof, bose 8 speakers sound system , 6 airbags and a good capable turbo charged engine (though Kushaq's 1.5 is better).
But if your budget is around 17 lakh then Kushaq 1.0 style MT is an easy pick. Kushaq's 1.0 engine is better than 1.5 of Creta. You get 6 airbags as compared to 2 of Creta SX, 7 Speakers as compared to 4 of Creta, telescopic steering and ventilated seats. Yes, you get standard sunroof as compared to Panaromic in Creta.

As a baniya Car buyer would appreciate your views on Creata 1.5 simple engine technology with linear power delivery with no nonsense driving comfort in City traffic against 1.0 TSI.
How good the Turbo 1.0 TSI would perform in City against 1.5 NA Petrol engine. Since Kushaq has a long traveling clutch & I did not find the Gear Shifting as smooth as Creata.
Does 1.0 & 1.5 TSI require additional maintenance & how good is the Reliability. Because I have fear that incase the TC malfunctions or Conks off what is the replacement warranty & price for replacement of a TC unit.

Kushaq and Taigun are priced just based on the European brand name premium. For the price they are asking, why can't they add in the cosmetics like Creta and Seltos. Even though they are making it locally to reduce the cost. But still comparatively the price aren't to less, nor do they have the cosmetics. Obviously buyers would be tempted to go for the Korean vehicles. If VW and Skoda want to succeed in India, they should target the majority of buyers, rather it looks like they are adamant that they only need the ' enthusiast' customers. And the numbers aren't many. Gonna end up like Ford, if they don't change their strategy.
