LAY HO MA!! What do you think about the flavour of taro? I’ve always loved it as a child ☺️ btw, remember to get your free e-book with 5 incredibly easy plantbased recipes to make with absolute confidence www.yeungmancooking.com 🙌🏻
Freezing the taro as well as the sweet potato and then using it would make a real thick, smoothie like taro milk tea I guess :D Looked fantastic! I hope I will be able to try it one day! Lots of love!
Once I tasted Taro fried into patties, I was hooked on this beautiful tuber, but when later I find out that soup and milk tea can also be made with it, so want to try this Taro Milk Tea! :D Unfortunately here in Mexico Taro is something new, but thanks to the Cuban influence and other Latin American countries, it is now grown in Veracruz State, the sad thing here most is for export to Japan but I'm so taking advantage its available now in supermarkets here, I recently bought(first time)2 purple sweet potatoes, now all I need is a taro root the same size as both and thanks to you Wil, will be enjoying this yummy, healthy drink. :D
I’m indian and and me and my parents are vegetarians so we can’t eat all these delicious asian meals that’s a problem for me bc i love to try other cuisines but you make these things better to make at home I haven’t tried anything yet but I will now. Thanks bro
Come to Singapore, we have so many vegetarian and vegan eateries selling local food, which is a fusion of Chinese, Malay, Southeast Asian and even Indian flavours :D
Thank you! My partner recently bought taro powder in an effort to make taro milk tea, but it turned out tasting like curdled porridge. Now I can make this for him as a surprise. :)
I made this last night. It turned out really well. I don't have cane sugar so I used 1 tbsp agave nectar instead. Worked great. I haven't been able to find a place that sells vegan taro milk tea, so thank you for this. :)
Mine came out a little purplish Brown. I think because I roasted everything too long and some of them got brown and crispy. I will eat those. They're delicious. I'll have to try again and watch the more carefully. Or maybe boil them instead. Even so, the drink tasted delicious! I've been making my own drink with taro but I didn't think to add the purple yam. Great idea!
I need to get myself organised to try some of these recipes, I never thought I would be interested in a drink like this. I think you have a very well thought out presentation and style, In a very congested market you stood out for me.
I tried this recipe tonight and you know your stuff with confidence:) it smelled sooooo fragrant and tasted creamy and smooth. I’m so in love with this drink. Thank you 😊
Really looks delicious. I recently found your channel I have been binge watching. Everything looks so incredibly tasty. Your photography and editing fantastic.
Thank you so much for this recipe!!! I really miss my favourite taro milk tea since going vegan 8 yeare ago. I've been waiting for this recipe all these years. And how incredibly easy it is to make! Thanks a bunch!
Hi there, I am new from Australia 🇦🇺. Thanks for your beautiful recipes. Amazing, I am also a photographer and food scientist/ nutritionist and great cook 😋. I am persian by background and privilege to know how cook traditional meals. Love your style of shooting and art of cooking
I’ve never tried taro I’ve actually never even seen it. I am now intrigued though, and have to try this. I’ve also never had purple potatoes. Next time I get into the city I will check out the large market where I think these vegetables may be available. I’m looking forward to giving this a try. Thanks 😊
I found you on instagram and now I'm watching your videos and man.... you make everything look so good and I can't wait to try out some recipes!! Taro is my favourite drink as well but every time I go to bubble tea shops they never have dairy alternatives and the taro is all artificial sugars and colours. This looks amazing :)
Came for the taro rice pudding, stayed for the taro tea:) I've never cooked with taro before. Thanks for introducing it to me. Can't wait to try. I don't remember seeing purple potato in my Ontario grocery store though 🙄 will look!
@@YEUNGMANCOOKING So I went there yesterday for taro. 🙃 I saw purple yams, which I was told wasn't the same and I saw potatoes with purple skin but they weren't purple inside. Are they just called purple potatoes? I'm excited to try making your rice pudding tomorrow in any case. Edit: The rice pudding is divine! 🙃
Oh my gosh, this is perfect!! Much healthier than all that sugar syrup used in the bubble tea places I go to. I have a friend who's obsessed with bubble/milk teas and I can't have more than half of their drinks on the menu😐Aside from slush or hot/cold tea. And Taro was my fav before I went vegan. Yayy so happy to see this^^
Thanks for the recipe! Unfortunately, I live in Japan and ovens are rare here. Any ideas on how to get the same result without an oven? I tryed steaming, boiling and grilling (didn't work). Thanks again for your work!
Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 mmm actually steaming should work! Chop them into small cubes but steam them separately (or divided). The recipe in my cookbook actually calls for steaming and not baking ☺️ hope you’ll try it again
Any suggestions on how to shop for taro? My local market has the large ones and smaller ones. I used the large one in this recipe. It was delicious, but didn’t have that strong taro flavor I’m looking for.
Would there be any problem with freezing the roasted vegetables and blending them straight from the freezer? I don't think I can drink that much milk tea all at once!
Hi Wil: Where I reside taro root is hard to find. When I did a little research it can be called several names such as Yautia. This is what I used, but I boiled it. I also add very little of 100% blue butterfly pea powder, my very own homemade almond cashew milk blend. I added boba pearls to it. My results were very thick & unable to go through a straw. What do you recommend boiled or baked? I forgot to mention I used the whole root. HELP PLEASE!!!!!
What the gell, I've watch and done so many of your recipes, specially like 2 years ago I was so much into cooking and cooking channels, and never saw this one. I discovered Bubble tea recently, specially Taro bubble milk, at my workplace, and our taro powder isn't vegan. I'm desperately looking for a vegan taro powder that won't be very expensive, and thinking...god, I'm really incorporating shit to my diet, so many preservatives and weird names. And suddenly your vid comes up on google, and I'm like "noooo, the answer was there all along!". Sl healthy and certainly cheap, you can be sure I'll try this one! thanks!
Yeah sorry lol it’s a very rough estimate 😅 I just put a couple small cubes of each of the potato and taro - 1/4 cup would def be too much. Yeah I put the rest in the fridge it’s good for I’d say around 1-1.5 weeks
You never stop impressing us with these amazing recipes.
Thank you so much ☺️

Hey Will, love your videos.
Could you tell me who made the background music? i really like it
Is my favorite flavor when choosing a bu bly tea.
Thank You for this cool and easy video 💜 What is the best way to store the taro & potato for future use? How long will it hold it's flavor in storage?
I put them in the fridge and enjoy up to max 1.5-2weeks but another viewer suggested to freeze the cubes! I’m intrigued to try that ☺️
It’s from the UA-cam creator music library

Purple sweet potato ☺️ it needs to be purple on the inside. That’s what gives the drink it’s awesome colour
This is delicious, thank you!

Ohhhh that’s a superb idea I must try that! I usually just store in the fridge and use them within max 2 weeks

☺️
How would you make it as a smoothie?
What about using frozen taro or poi? It can be hard to get both of those inland at the same time and size.
Taro is also my favorite so this makes me drool 😻
Great idea!!
Can It be boiled? Does the taro and potatoe have to be in the oven to make soft?
Is there a difference between boiling instead of in the oven?
Omg I’m in love with you. And I didn’t even know that taro was white lol hah. Also I’m sure this is caffeine free so I can give it to my 3 year.
Can you boil instead of baking them? I've got to try this but I wanna make sure before I make one ☺️
Is there another option for the purple potatoes? I can't find them in my country

Ahhh, I would recommend playing around with the ratio of the root to liquid. It sounds like in this case, more liquid than root would be required 👨🏻🍳
What would be a good ratio of this blend if I were to add black tea as well?
Maybe 1/4 cup of it?
What the gell, I've watch and done so many of your recipes, specially like 2 years ago I was so much into cooking and cooking channels, and never saw this one. Hey! How can you save the left over purple potato and taro after its been in the oven and you want to use it another time?
Let them cool completely and keep them in the fridge for about 1-1.5 weeks
1 TB purple sweet potatoe looks like 1/4 cup? Looks yummy. Do you refrigerate the rest and how long will it last in the fridge?

The white one is taro ☺️
making this sometime!!
☺️
Can regular sweet potato be used if purple ones are not available? I know u wouldnt get the colour required but is the taste compromised?
Can the purple potato be replaced with beetroot?
Hmmm it would be interesting but the purple potato is much sweeter than beet
