I imagine that when Finrod Felagund first found the humans sleeping around the campfire and he started playing music for them, this is what they woke to.
No wonder their bond of friendship and love for him was so everlasting.

I love the beautiful sound of the harp! And the woodland setting in the background is amazing: the thick moss covering the base of the tree & the rhododendron off to the right... a little piece of paradise! It reminds me of where I grew up!
I've always loved the woods, having grown up in central Pennsylvania in a tiny town named Snow Shoe, surrounded by forests on all sides! And between our home & our next nearest neighbor was a grove of trees with a carpet of moss so thick that when we kids walked on it in our bare feet in early spring, icy cold water would squish up between our toes as if we were walking on sponges! I was the guardian of our grove, especially the moss! I didn't want any inappreciative person coming into our grove messing everything up, especially our beautiful moss!
Then up a little embankment was a HUGE triple trunked tree, so big around that it took 6 of us kids with outstretched arms to encompass it!!! That tree must have been hundreds of years old! To this day, I wish that tree could speak! It would no doubt have told me of the mountain lions that were once plentiful in those woods & the American Indians who used to live there. I would ask the ancient tree why one Indian left his pair of snow shoes hanging criss-crossed in a tree. That's how my little town got its name, you know.
A little further up in our grove was our riding oak, with a branch that hung down to about 4 feet off the ground. One of us kids would jump up and grab the lowest part of that branch and pull it down so the rest could climb on. Then we'd all start bobbing up & down in a coordinated fashion 'til we got the big branch moving of its own accord. To us kids, it was like a bucking bronco and we had to hold on for dear life if we didn't want to get thrown off! That was really hard to do when we were giggling so hard that our sides hurt!!!😂😂😂
Then near our riding oak was my special climbing tree. It was a young maple, probably about 15 to 20 years old. I'd go there and climb it whenever I'd had a bad day. I'd sit in its topmost branches, pouring my heart out to my Heavenly Father, who always made me feel better. Or if I'd had a great day, I'd sit up there, thanking Him for such a wonderful life & family & my little piece of paradise to grow up in! From my perch, I could look down on
the rest of Snow Shoe, which was situated below. I was very blessed & extremely appreciative!!!
So thank you, Lucy, for your beautiful music & woodlands, which brought back such fond childhood memories!!!🥰❤

Lucy, thank you for posting this beautiful rendition. I apologize for the length of the following post, but I think you might find it interesting.
You probably already know this, but in the background lore of Middle Earth, magic is indelibly linked to music. In fact, the world was actually CREATED by a SONG. In the beginning of the Silmarillion, Eru ("God") called together all the Valar and Maiar in a big chorus (and in my imagination at least) handed out sheet music for this new Symphony he had written. It describes how their singing voices were different than humans, some sounding like trumpets, some like flutes, etc...(I'm sure some sounded like harps) so basically, they formed a vast heavenly orchestra! And as they sang the song he had taught them, an image formed of the world that the lyrics described. And Eru then made that world real.
In the Silmarillion, it seems that during the ancient days magic was both more common and more powerful than it is in the fading years of the Third Age. There are scenes that describe characters "casting spells" in a way we would normally associate with some other Fantasy setting...and it is always portrayed as SINGING. There is an amazing scene in which the King of the Noldor Elves, Finrod Felagund, uses magic to disguise himself and a few retainers as orcs in order to infiltrate the lands of the enemy. (Finrod, by the way, was reknowned as a Master Harpist) They are captured by Sauron (at that time a mere leader of the armies of his master, Morgoth). In Sauron's fortress, he tries to break the spell that is concealing their identities. What follows is an amazing magical duel that is expressed as a battle in "Songs of Power".
from The Silmarillion Chapter 19, "Of Beren and Luthien":
"He (Sauron) chanted a song of wizardry
    Of piercing, opening, of treachery,
    Revealing, uncovering, betraying,
    Then sudden Felagund there swaying
Sang in answer a song of staying,
    Resisting, battling against power,
Of secrets kept, strength like a tower,
    And trust unbroken, freedom, escape
Of changing and of shifting shape
    Of snares eluded, broken traps,
The prison opening, the chain that snaps
Backwards and forwards swayed their song,
Reeling and foundering, as ever more strong
    The chanting swelled, Felagund fought,
And all the magic and might he brought
    Of Elvenesse into his words
Softly in the gloom they heard the birds
    Singing afar in Nargothrond
The sighing of the Sea beyond,
Beyond the western world, on sand,
On sand of pearls in Elvenland
Then the gloom gathered, darkness growing,
In Valinor, the red blood flowing
Beside the Sea, where the Noldor slew
    The Foamriders, and stealing drew
Their white ships with their white sails
From lamplit havens. The wind wails,
The wolf howls. The ravens flee.
The ice mutters in the mouths of the Sea
The captives sad in Angband mourn.
Thunder rumbles, the fires burn -
And Finrod fell before the throne.
Then Sauron stripped from them their disguise, and they stood before him naked and afraid. But though their kinds were revealed, Sauron could not discover their names
    or their purposes."

Sorry for the confusing writing style.
The sound of your harp expresses the dreamlike beauty of elves and the antiquity of the beginning of time.
Therefore, I felt that there were Galadriel and other elves somewhere in the forest in the video.
I didn't actually see it, but it was the wonderful tone of your harp that made me feel that way.
I am Japanese and I am not good at reading and writing English.

I'm very happy you enjoyed it. The harp is a Camac Bardic 22, which I believe is out of production. But Camac now do a 27-string travel harp called the Odyssey and you can get small harps from other manufacturers too. Hope that helps.

    • @HarpLarks

You can find Cecile-Marie Lissens' lovely arrangement of Lothlorien on sheetmusicplus.com (or, I believe, sheetmusicdirect.com). There you'll also find many others of her wonderful arrangements. Enjoy.

Hi, Lucy. Beautiful playing! What are the little levers for on the harp? :)

    • @lyndavonkanel8603
      @lyndavonkanel8603 Рік тому +2

The levers change strings to sharps or flats so that it's possible to change keys. I tune my harp, with some of the strings, to the natural notes.: c .d, f. g. The a, b, e are tuned flat. These later notes can be and are usually changed to natural by raising the levers. If I want to play in b flat, I leave the b lever down. To have an f sharp, I raise the lever on the f string to play in the key of G.
