    Thanks for the heads up about the other colors Staz On makes. I didn't realize they made mini ink cubes too! I have the jet black but now I will have to check some of the other colors too especially that Emerald City! Thanks again and have a great day!

    I'm glad to see they finally have reinkers for the smaller size pads. Originally they didn't. Yay, now I can order them. Some of my smaller pads got heavy use and I was concerned since they didn't offer the reinkers at that time.

    I use Staz-On all the time on glazed tiles. I clean the stamps with Simple Green, which is LOTS cheaper than their cleaner. If the ink has sat on the stamp for a long time (such as years; got some stamps from a friend that way), you can also use Kiss Off cleaner multiple times. It may not get it off completely, but it looks lots better than before.

    If I stamp out coasters, do I have to apply a fixative or Mod Podge over it , in case the glasses sweat on the inked part?

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  5 років тому

      YES. Solvent-based inks dry crazy-fast and you will need to reink it before each use.

    Can you use staz on to stamp on natural untreated wood without it bleeding into the would grain?

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  7 років тому

      It's best to seal the wood first to prevent bleeding- if you are looking for a nice clean image.

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  9 років тому +1

      Memento luxe is a VERY wet, slow-drying pigment ink. It smears like the dickens and I'd NOT use it on photos- it will never dry since it cannot sink into the fibers of the paper. So your option for photos is really Staz-On. Good luck!

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  4 роки тому

      Yes, it works! It's tricky because it wants to "slide", but it does work. You still have to be careful with washing tho.

    I have the hardest time with my Stazon Jet Black pads. I've purchased a couple because they keep getting sticky and no matter how much I re-ink them they do not work well. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  9 років тому

      D~DesignsByDragonfly That sounds like they are drying out. Maybe add a drop of solvent cleaner and work it around with an old toothbrush? that might de-gum it a little. Good luck!

    Is there a DIY StazOn stamp cleaner ?

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  8 років тому

      +MYT CR8TiV not that I've tried. And the reason is, Staz-on contains a solvent and so to create my own cleaner with a chemical like this would probably be more toxic for me to create than just buy.

    What type of ink would work best for stamping onto painted canvas fabric?

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  7 років тому +1

      That's an interesting question. It may depend on if the surface is smooth or textured, and what kind of paint. I'm guessing you'd need a "juicy" pad to accommodate some texture, but it would need to dry on an acrylic- so perhaps VersaFine. :)

    Hi there.. I was wanting to know about the Staz-on Silver... Have you used it? Do you like the Silver? You said you like the white. I have heard that it drys out very fast! That you have to re ink it every time you want to use it! Is this true?

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  8 років тому

      +Southern Angel Btq. Tammy Dameron (Southern Angels Boutique) I have the gold, so it's very similar to the silver. Yes, they all dry out very fast and you certainly need the reinkers. (My gold came with one.) The fact that it's a solvent-based pigment ink means that it evaporates almost immediately, which is why you can use it on non-porous surfaces and it won't smudge.

    • @SouthernAngelsStamping
      @SouthernAngelsStamping 8 років тому

      I have the Gold also but have not given it a try yet. I was wanting to get silver or white for Christmas crafting but not sure what one to get. I can get the silver at a really great price I have found. Would the silver look good for snow? I like sparkle but I don't know how this silver looks. Since you have it can you please tell me what you think about it? Thank you!!! God BLess!!!

      Manualideas Fancylooks Sorry- I made a typo there. MEMENTO. Not luxe. There is a big difference between the two! And just for comparison purposes, I did a HUGE swatch test today. Looks like there are a few others that work well, too!

      CraftTestDummies Thank you, precisely today I bought Memento (fade resistant dye ink) Tuxedo black color to use with Ciao Copics, the woman at the shop told me that was the right ink, I hope I got the right one then

    are the stazon stamp pads non toxic?

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  9 років тому

      77goodz86 Well, it says "non-toxic"- but it's not safe for children and it has cautions to avoid contact with eyes, skin, and to keep away from flame. Also use in a well-ventilated area/ don't inhale or ingest. So while it won't kill you, it's not good for your brain cells.

    I get so confused with this. I not to be used on porous surfaces, Why is it alright to stamp on paper, cardstock, tags and then use water based markers. I asked because I followed what you just said and used my Staz-On Silver and Stamped on dark and light paper, { I assure you my inks had never been opened }, brand new that evening. The stamped image looked a very light ashy grey. I was anxious to use my brand new Tim Holtz Markers. So I feel like a Dummy with expensive products that are a bust. Lynda

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  9 років тому

      GoldCoastCraftsbyDesign You are not a dummy, friend! There is just a lot of information and conditions....and that's why I'm here to help you clear it up! The "regular" and Opaque Staz On are just fine for porous surfaces like paper, in addition to non-porous ones. The Metallics, however, don't seem to really work that well on porous ones- they are formulated to be metallic on NON-porous surfaces. (There are a bunch of metallic pigment ink pads for paper and porous surfaces, but Metallic Staz-On is the only one for glass, paper, etc.) If you want to use your new Markers, I'd suggest one of these: Hero Hues Dye, Adirondack Ink Dye, or Memento Dye pads. They all work with both Alcohol markers and Distress markers, according to my tests. Good luck!

    • @sactowngold1

      Thx so much. These all carry a Metallic Ink? Or should O just skip right to embossing? Just a lot of steps for stream line card making. I'm trying to get some All Occasion Sets made for Mothers Day Gifts for Women at my church. Young and older.

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  9 років тому

      GoldCoastCraftsbyDesign No, not all Staz-On pads are Metallic. And you CANNOT emboss with these! You need a VersaFine pad for regular stamping and embossing, and I recommend a Memento for using with Alcohol inks and/or watercoloring.

      Got it. You are my go to gal for my crafty brain cramps.
      Totally off the subject, but I'm fairly sure I viewed a demo you did on the WeRMemoryKeepers Die Cutting Machine. Yes? I'm very close to purchasing it. I like that you can adjust it's pressure level there for if I'm correct I wouldn't need all the extra "shim", "solo", etc that adds to the expense. As well it just seems like it's magnetic plate is a bit MORE beefy. But... CHA comes along and Spellbinders offers 81/2" wide. Bit I think it is ONLY for steel ruled dies. Which tells me you need their Grand Calliber and the new machine because what you've purchased is an Accu Quilt. I'm lost, again. Please offer you're much appreciated guidance. Such as, what do you trust and use. Not because it was "given". Or if it was, you seriously use it over all others because it works and you believe in it. I can't find the tutorial.
