I'd like to point out that when installing this cooler, your motherboard may have 2 ports, "CPU Fan" and "CPU Opt". CPU Opt is where you can connect the second fan to instead of daisy chaining the 2 fans into one port. This is completely optional, however, it's something worth noting depending on what you're using the computer for.
@@NorthernVikingEverydayDid you realize after you made the video that you clipped on the first fan somewhat incorrectly which resulted in some of the lamellae getting bent? It's clearly visible in the video and not present on the front fan.
Installed this earlier on my am4 mobo and it was super simple and easy to do. I’ve never dealt with those fan clips before so I came to this video and once again it was super simple and took me no time at all.
You're doing God's work here! I was too stupid to understand those clips and the manual days exactly nothing on how to install them, so thanks a million! 🤗
Great guide for AM4 users! I’m using a Phantom Spirit, and it was similar enough I could follow your video. You answer so many questions the instructions didn’t address, like what direction the fans were blowing. This fan is a beast and was a needed upgrade for me after switching to a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D. I went from 90°C in OCCT on my Cooler Master T2 to 64°C with this Phantom Spirit. Using an Asrock B450 Pro4.
Having the 2 screws on top and bottom is MUCH better than having them either side. The top screw prevents the heavy cooler from sagging which happens with 2 side screws all the time.
Came here trying to figure out which side to mount the fans on. Looks like it's front and middle DIMM side, not middle and back. You also helped me understand how the clips work. Thank you.
You are fantastic, your voice is nice and clear (and kind of asmr quality tbh) and you seem like a fun friendly guy. Excellent tutorial, I was worried when I read reviews of the cooler that it was a pain in the ass but you made it possible in like 5 minutes. ❤
great video and easy to follow along for a beginner like me! I got a little disheartened when I noticed that the right hand fan bumped into my ram but once you had the same "issue" and said it would be fine it took a weight of my shoulder lol
Thanks! Helping a friend build his first proper gaming PC later today and was curious about how this was installed. Never messed with a cooler this size before.
Thanks for the video, you forgot to mention that you don't need the splitter cable, you can just connect second fan into the CPU OPT connection on the motherboard.
Watched this on my phone and installed Peerless Assassin flawlessly as my first CPU cooler change ever! Great help appreciated, especially on those confusing fan clips :(( Thank you for your wonderful tutorial video.

I wasnt sure what to do with direction until i noticed rubber pads and your video helped. Its possible to get those clips in without bending the heatsink fins, just slide up or down a c'hair at a time until it goes in perfect!
Thank you very much! The only down side I saw in all this was that you would have to pull up the 1 fan placed by the side to access the RAM but consider its only being held be brackets. It's still easy to work around.
Thank you for this! I'm doing my first PC build and was confused on the fan orientation since there is no directional logos. :) But you've cleared that out for me. Cheers!
I have fans in the back that pull out the hot air, and fans in the top of the case that pull out the air. Wouldn't it make more sense in that case to mount the fans so that they're both on the outside of the heat sink blowing away from the heatsink, instead of creating a hot air train?
This guide helped me install my Peerless Assassin 120. Very detailed and thoughtful; Thank you very much! It was actually much easier than anticipated 😅
Hello, in some reviews of this cooler, I found that some people put a piece of iron on the motherboard directly behind the processor in order to connect with the two pieces of iron next to the processor that you installed on the plastic pieces. So my question is, do I have to put that piece of iron at the back or do I not need it? So ? By the way, my motherboard is Asrock B550M Steel Legend. I will be really happy with your answer
Paired this cooler up with a recent scrapyard find as we swing by there at work a lot. Found a MSI x299 sli plus motherboard & an I9 7920x processor, not gonna mess about overclocking it as this will be my test rig for various parts, currently only a single 8 gb ddr4 stick too test with but I'm sure I'll find some more, or I'll just buy a kit of 32 gb & put in the current ram from my main rig into this.
Thanks for the vid, I watched this after installing the color because it didn't seem right and realized I put the brackets on the wrong sides so the heatsink was hitting my ram and I/o lol. Luckily caught the mistake while everything was out of the case
I totally realized I installed my second fan wrong. I installed it on the outside rather than the middle even despite looking at the manual. I'll definitely correct that.
Everything is fine, up until tightening the screws on the Heatsink, one side is fine, but the other just refuses to tighten. Anyone else had this issue?

The cooler doesn't interfere with the RAM, does it? I'm going to buy that same motherboard and cooler, but I couldn't see clearly if the RAM fits well.
"The Peerless Assassin 120 came with a splitter and one of the ends looks like it's missing a pin. Is this normal or should I contact Amazon/Thermal right?" That's intentional. Pin 3 is the tach, it's a signal from the fan to the motherboard/controller to say how fast the fan is going. Multiple signals from multiple fans would confuse it and could even damage it.
If you need the back plate to remain attached (if you're upgrading and don't want to remove the motherboard from the case), wouldn't it be better to remove/replace one bracket at a time, so one bracket is always attached and the backplate can't fall off. Just a suggestion. Thanks for the video.
