I don't know about the inside joke, but I find it funny because Shadow and Bone is dark and gritty and Freddy LITERALLY plays a criminal with the nickname the Bastard of the Barrel, and then there's Free Rein which is that stereotypical American kids soap opera about an American city girl going to live in rural England and AmAaAaAzInG all the locals with her special horse skills. The shows are complete opposites. Wow that was long 😂.
