I know the shuttle had its flaws, but damn if it wasn't one beautiful vehicle in flight.

What amazes me is that for a fat vehicle with relatively stubby wings, it landed deadstick, no power, as a glider. Or as Tommy Lee Jones called it in "Space Cowboys", a flying brick...
