How to roll a Pakol?

- To roll a pakol a few simple techniques are needed; a rounded hard long piece, a piece of woolen fabric to be put at the ends of a pakol wall and then rolling upwards. In the video you can watch the details.

I have 1 and wear it often but americans look very strangly at it:( as if skull shirts and tattoos that they wear are any better.

I bought a readymade one off Etsy straight from Peshawar, Pakistan. My naughty nephew came and unrolled the thing. I tried for ten straight days to roll it back with my hands but only ended up getting a thick roll which came undone in the middle of my prayers. This video helped a lot in the end to get it right. Thank you!!!

My daughter had a big round foam ball. I stuck it between my knees and did it that way.
For context the pakol originally had nothing to do with Afghans or Pashtuns. It originated in Chitral, Pakistan (the Chitralis, or Khos, are ethnically different to Pashtuns) and the Pashtuns and other people of Pakistan started wearing it. It became famous in Afghanistan after Ahmad Shah Masoud wore it.

@@TheDjmixer20 older variations of the Pakol are different to the Macedonian hat. Meaning the Pakol isn’t of Macedonian but Chitrali origin.
no it isnt, the pashtuns were wearing it when alexander invaded- the greeks were known to add other parts of cultures to their own
Very cool. I have a freakishly huge head but my pakul fits me fine. My kids call it my 'mushroom hat'.

As an Indian... I love Afghan culture.
This is just something Afghans adopted,Pakol is from Chitral.
This is not afghan thing it's pakol chitrali hat everything afghans wear from head to toe is PAKISTANi 🇵🇰 attire and head wears and chapplas

I bought a pakul from a pakistani vendor in Etsy, and is a little small, he told me not to send it back, that i can it fix it myself to make it bigger. He sent me a picture and point it at the three sutures on the side of the hat. I have no idea how to do it.
Anybody can give me any suggestions. Do i need to unroll it? i have no idea, It is winter time here in the pacific northwest and i want to wear it.

I want to increase its size so that it dont tight that much and feel comfortable
@@junaidzakir4650 Unroll it just couple centimetres down, cut each seam few times, next roll the cap up tightly again. I mean it's possible to increase the size of pakol (for example, from 58 to 60 cm circumference) by NOT unrolling it down entirely. It's enough to unroll just a bit and cut the seams just a bit (each of them!).
And in case if your pakol gets unrolled badly, you may roll it back with the proper method as described here in this video. Good luck!

@@TheGearhead222 The method i have recently tried (successfully) is to cut each of the seams, but only at a few points - not all over its length and then it's not necessary to unroll the cap entirely (just a few centimeters down is enough).
