Considering you can visit the exterior of Baldwin Mansion in-game with Maria directly commenting on it I think Born From A Wish DLC is very possible. The glowing reception the remake is getting certainly helps it's chances.
Love what they did with the great knife in the remake, for those who don't know Pyramid Head's weapon is designed to be the half of a giant pair of scissors, the great knife being used by James was originally intended to be the other half of it further connecting James and Pyramid Head, but from what I understand they didn't have the time to properly design it to look that way, so it ended up being just a very big rusty knife, but seeing it properly in the remake looking like the actual other half of the scissors is such a cool & perfect detail and really goes to show how much they respected the original vision while remaking this masterpiece
@@dragonkamran Oh yeah I've seen that around as well, it's the best thing about SH is that it's so much up to interpretation, I do like the knife being a represention of thoughts of self harm being planted in James' mind after meeting with Angela and taking the knife away
Part of me wishes they figured out a way to let James bring the knife with him to the end of the game like in the original SH2, just a big clunky weapon that is almost useless in a fight but does immense damage
While at the beginning of the game, you can actually visit a barbershop in the town by breaking a window. On one of the tables, there's a note hinting at PH, and there's a pair of scissors that very much resembles the knife

The note at 6:32 wasn't cut. It's accessible in game toward the end of the otherworld version on the hospital, around when you'd re-locate Maria. It's on a bench.

It's such a shame that they cut out the spray.. I just kinda wish they gave us more rewards after beating the game on the hardest difficulty or finishing it on a specific time (Infinite Ammo, more powerful weapons, hidden costumes, etc..). There needs to be more replay value than just obtaining the endings.
I’m hoping if they add the “Born From A Wish” DLC that if you complete it, the reward is unlocking the Hyper Spray in the main game. High hopes though.

It's pretty incredible this game is as well received as it is given the reaction to the first trailer/footage back when. It's like the Sonic The Hedgehog movie being successful after showing him with weird teeth in the first trailer.
The very very very first tech demo was made in 2015, Bloomer pitched the idea to Konami and they said "no" They were called back in 2018-2019 and it was greenlight, planning started early 2019 and development started midway 2019 These "ass and looking bad trailers" were alpha builds, animations and sounds were inferior because it was a pre-alpha build The final build of the game was completed on April 15th (PS5 retail disc build date) and the following months were made for bug testing and the final touches of the fully completed build TL;DR Only Konami knows why they showed the early builds for trailers and images, it was an impossible task to "fix" everything in just months Maybe Konami did it for things like "hey we care about feedback, we fixed the game guys" when nothing was fixed
It's only well received by people who have never played a SH game before. Just like was the case with the nu-Doom games and the new RE remakes. Yeah, it's playable. Okay even at best. But it's still every modern cancer and tons of cheap laziness poured into a single generic UE5 jankfest slop.
One thing that was also cut was the battery you get from the hospital that you don’t actually use until the roach room way later in the game when your light goes out.

It’s version 1.0 vs 1.03 and not 1.3. And 1.0 wasn’t a beta, it was a stable release, ready to be pressed on discs. But until the games official launch date 1.03 was done and then shipped as an update for the discs and already integrated into digital downloads. Someone might say small details, but paying attention to details makes a difference to be good content.

I was really hoping that a new unlockable weapon would be available for NG+ - Eddies Revolver. Could you imagine how cool that would have been? Having NG+ unlockables with requirements to unlock makes NG+ so much more fun
I think the final version of the Dog ending is better than the full version. I do not like that James was going to shoot Mira and it also breaks from the creepy atmosphere the final edit delivers. I do find it funny though.
Jacob's ladder didn't influence 2 - it influenced 1. EDIT: Seeing a lot of posts saying it influenced all the 3 first games. What I remember from reading about it - the alternate endings of 1 is basically lifted from Jacob's Ladder because that movie offers the viewer many different interpretations of what is going and Silent Hill 1 wanted to emulate that - like the canon ending of Silent Hill 1 is that Harry defeats the cult and runs away with a new baby - but during the game it is constantly alluded that "tourists buy drugs" and Harry could be crazy and the bad ending with Harry having a drug-induced fever dream in the car is a direct reference to Jacob's Ladder.
Another piece that may have been cut: in the final level, there is a file with "M.S.S." written on the front. I believe it stands for Mary Sheppard-Sunderland. James can interact with it, but for some odd reason, he makes no comment about it or even reads what could be inside. I just find it odd, like it could have been a note, but in fact, it is just a random set piece.
I assume it was meant to replace James listening to a recording of a doctor telling James that Mary can't be saved and that she will die soon from the original. But in the remake James refuses to read it for some reason

The OST also seems to contain a few unused tracks too. Notably, the track "The Moment Our Paths Entwined" doesn't seem to appear anywhere in the game, but judging by the name it may have been related to a deleted cutscene, possibly a flashback.
The cardiectomy note was not cut from the remake. The "1 >" symbol is part of the code to a locker containing the Toluca Lake Postcard needed for the Stillness Ending. I will clarify, though, that it's only present on New Game+. The same applies for both the "< 3" and "4 >" notes. I will say that I still appreciate all your Silent Hill videos, regardless
FYI the "unused memo's" are in fact not unused as I have seen them in game myself, particularly the one about the car in the alley that if you follow the story being told on the east south vale section of the game it's basically the last piece of the puzzle before you can move on to the wood side apartments

Honestly I can see why they didn't make the great knife a weapon for James if you think about it Pyramid Head a being that can lift you up with one hand and can bust trough walls has issues with carrying it. How the hell would James carry it the same as PH? Also 1 or 2 shotting some bosses would have lowered the first time experience of them. But who knows maybe they will add it later as DLC for NG+ .
A lot of stuff the original SH2 did was either watered down or outright cut from the demake. It's bizarre that people find a need to censor an R18 psychological horror game, where the main themes are literal SEX AND DEATH... but this is the sad state we've come to.

5:21 that save screen looks NOTHING like the one on the original, if anything the one using his face model on real time is more accurate and adds an extra layer of detail (specifically due how it reacts later in the game)
A couple of unlockable costumes would benefit this remake even more. If Konami gives us a free costume somewhere down the line, I'd gladly replay the game even if I've already beaten it three times!
Nah, costumes are cheap AF reward. I've beaten the original SH1 and 2 both some 50+ times by now, and I still return to them. The remake, I don't feel like revisiting any time soon. No, there is mistake when saying Maria is an imagination, and literally saying it straight that the developers made - "BORN from a wish". Maria is "birthed" in DLC is INCORRECT. The meaning of the title is deep. You see, there is a big reason why Ernest Baldwin said to Maria "Oh! you must be..." and "Be careful, James is danger" meant something. Ernest Baldwin warned Maria about James is because of the Pyramid head weapon. Years ago, one of the developers in Japan, Masahiro Ito, said "Pyramid head's weapon is large one-side part of a scissor/shear (thought to be large blade, but no), and it depicts that James has the other side of the scissor tip". Which means is that, when James ended Mary's life. She was a victim of Pyramid head, although James killed her for the Pyramid head. Mary is supposed to be a sacrifice for the cult's demonic deity. She is a victim, as shown from an image of pyramid head with hanged rectangular structures in Historical Museum. This, in relation to Mary boss fight when she changes to a ghostly figure with rectangular structure. Back to Maria, Ernest warned Maria about Pyramid head, not exactly James. In the elevator chase scene, Pyramid head stabbed and killed Maria (Ernest thought it was James because of the weapon). Maria is a real human person, up until Pyramid-head stabbed her and killed her. Ever since then, that incident, Maria is a different person. She is now a puppet of the cult's demonic deity. She became another embodiment of Mary, since they resemble one another (also, part of the wish of the cult's demonic influence because of the other purpose). She is now a different being. James is an important symbol to the 21 sacraments of the cult's deity goddess. He is innocent in ending Mary's life for Pyramid head, and James is innocent by judgement of Pyramid head. So evident that ignores James a lot, especially the scissor-weapon Pyramid head, the other two Pyramid heads are spear weapons. James has two purpose or meaning for the cult. One, being a sacrament (sacrifice), and two, symbol of the "white chrism". This can only be defined depending on the cult's main and current objective, seems to be adjusting (probably because of the game depended on ending). If he dies while recollected with Mary's memory, they will join together in death, although that will be in the otherworld (hell), serving as cult's puppets. I found a clue by somebody written in blood above the jukebox at night, that says: "If you Really wAnt to sEE Mary, you should just DiE. But You might be hEading to A different place than MARY" (letter capitalization is observed and similar). Before, I thought James was dead in start because of delusional amnesia, he seems like a searching ghost. But James is NOT DEAD. He seems unconscious somewhere after taking suicide, before entering fog world of Silent Hill, days after ending Mary's life. In the writing, the word "BUT" is conditional. James lost his memories after taking suicide. In addition to this, during the first save point upon entering the graveyard, he said: "Ugh! It's like someone's groping around my skull", which means that someone touching him intimately and unintentionally. I think Mary is reaching him to remember, otherwise if he dies, they will not meet. The other purpose the cult has for James is him being the symbol of "white chrism". The "wish" made Maria still alive even though killed by Pyramid head. Because Maria is symbol of the goblet, and then their CHILD is the philosopher's stone. Which is the next vessel for the cult's demonic deity, just like Alessa/Alessir. This is similar to Silent Hill 1 myth. Well anyway, if Maria isn't real, why could she deeply express her feelings properly in response to James, physically and emotionally, UNTIL she was stabbed by Pyramid head, her empathy changed from organic to plastic, which is very revealing even if asked from a psychologist. All might be answered, maybe, if Konami and Bloober Team will explain the story in Silent Hill 5 or future game. They should continue the story of Maria, James, Laura and Ernest Baldwin, since Eddie and Angela already ended their lives here.
First of all, reading such weird broken English hurts my eyes (takes suicide??). Second, half of that mumbo jumbo is some weirdass nu-SH2 fanfic stuff I've never seen anyone even try to mumble the past 24 years before. You really need to play the OG games kiddo, ASAP. For starters, the "Born From A Wish" was a very hastily put together, borderline unofficial expansion pack, made originally only for the Xbox port, within less than a year. It's safe to say that anything it introduced should be taken with a hefty grain of salt, the very least. It has nothing to do with "demonic deities", nor was the cult a demon-worshipping pact. They were radical CHRISTIANS, that had only adopted SOME local pagan rituals to their own teachings...simply because it worked. They wanted to create a living GOD, which was given a monstrous image because miss you-know-who was so terrified of it all. And none of that matters in SH2, other than it explaining why the town's area is so "broken" now, the local power essentially running haywire on auto-pilot. Also, this whole "EVERYONE IS DEAD AND A GHOST!!" is LITERALLY a remake-only theory, now essentially confirmed by the cracking of various obvious clues pointing towards time-loop / purgatory. tl;dr: SH2 2001 happened, and SH2 2024 is a (shitty) sequel that keeps changing stuff so much, even the characters are confused.

Ehhhhh, they definitely peeked at CAPCOM with their RE remakes. Maria scenario will definitely drop in ~a year as paid DLC. Hope there's going to be something to it instead of it being a two hour-long snoozefest.
Unlimited ammo isnt neccesary at all. Even shooting lots of enemies, on Hard difficulty, I have, as I write this after beating Flesh Lips, 16 shotgun shells and 210 bullets for the handgun. The game literally feeds you with ammo. Only thing Im missing is Hyper Spray, and a 10 star rank. The game is a bit too easy and you cant have the satisfaction to beat this game and feel proud, whereas a 10-star rank would have.
Yeah, the incendiary grenades and unlockable Plagas Removal Laser are the two weapons which the RE4 Remake, to my knowledge, left out from the original.
I got platinum myself, and saw the dog ending. They butchered it. The original version was far superior; now, you have no idea what James means when he says he can’t believe it. Believe what? As awful as it is, it’s still better than the version they had here. That would have been nuclear-grade ass.
How fortunate that we are to have this game not only in a known, extractable engine (Unreal 5,) but also untainted by DRM like Denuvo. In the modern day of games made completely un-modifiable, Silent Hill 2 Remake can quite easily be picked apart, and there were model replacement and overhaul mods as early as the first few days after release. I imagine that there will be a mod to restore 1.0 retail disc features on the PC version, if that hasn't already been done. I appreciate that you didn't do that UA-camr™ thing of saying "they did this *for some reason*" without any deeper analysis or looking into why or "this would have been SO much better than what we got in the final game" without any consideration for why it was changed in the first place like so many youtube channels tend to do for cut content. It's something that irks me a lot. In fact you even went as far as looking for more information about some things, like the "Jacob S" easter egg. I think you did a very good job with this video, well done.
If the theory that Silent Hill 2 Remake actually takes place after Silent Hill 2 via the photographs ends up being true, then there is a chance I might actually like it more than the original.
My first thought was this is definitely a loop and the original also took place.. Its mind blowing thinking about it because no remake of a game could and did Handle the story like silent hill 2 remake did. this is almost perfection in its own right and in a diffrent way like the story is perfect for this concept it gives a whole diffrent meaning.

The "secret photos" form a message that literally says "YOU'VE BEEN HERE FOR TWO DECADES", and all the "memories of the past" eastereggs are literally iconic key moments from the 2001 SH2 to boot. Last but not least: almost all the characters make a comment of "not remembering" something throughout the game, Maria doing it several times even if you check out the now pointless Bowling Alley. In short: Bloopooper pulled off the FF7 demake's gimmick, shafting both old and new players.
I think the misconception is that Born from a wish is included with in later versions of the game. It was originally an Xbox exclusive and then included in the GH re-release for PS2. It is not in the original release.
The top things that were either removed or watered down are those two scenes with pyramid head and the mannequins. You don't remove the most disturbing things. You just don't do it. The remake is game of the year but it's definitely not better than the original which is the truly disturbing experience. It's so upsetting because all these people and myself are getting a cheapened version. Everyone needs to play or watch the original. I own both now but if I own only one, it's the original for those those truly disturbing experiences.

This remake is really peaks and valleys of quality and faithfulness. Some areas are untouched, others are changed completely. Really disappointing to see what they did with the Great Knife and Hyper Spray, also the dog ending. As a fan of the original, I found this to be a very disappointing, almost cynical remake. It really feels like the devs couldn't agree on anything. Also it's very bloated with uninspired puzzles and pretty surface level as far as understanding of it's deeper themes though. Also having Maria make quips every few seconds when she's following you... such an annoying modern video game trope.
I can't say this is a faithful remake, very much more like a reboot. Pyramid scenes are all different and butchered as well as other scenes changed for better or worse. Maria outfit, unlockable, and more. Now it would not be as bad to me if the narrative did not feel worse than the original, but the game has little scenes where if you click on something like the spray its a "reference" to cut content. I really don't need to be reminded hey this is not in the remake every 5-10 minutes. I am glad many people love the game, and got to experience the story even if not as good as the original, but I can't call it faithful. I think most people who played the remake never played a sh game before, or at least 1-4 so I bet the experience is 9\10 for majority of people.

Jacob's ladder didn't influence 2 - it influenced 1.
EDIT: Seeing a lot of posts saying it influenced all the 3 first games. What I remember from reading about it - the alternate endings of 1 is basically lifted from Jacob's Ladder because that movie offers the viewer many different interpretations of what is going and Silent Hill 1 wanted to emulate that - like the canon ending of Silent Hill 1 is that Harry defeats the cult and runs away with a new baby - but during the game it is constantly alluded that "tourists buy drugs" and Harry could be crazy and the bad ending with Harry having a drug-induced fever dream in the car is a direct reference to Jacob's Ladder.
Another piece that may have been cut: in the final level, there is a file with "M.S.S." written on the front. I believe it stands for Mary Sheppard-Sunderland. James can interact with it, but for some odd reason, he makes no comment about it or even reads what could be inside. I just find it odd, like it could have been a note, but in fact, it is just a random set piece.
I assume it was meant to replace James listening to a recording of a doctor telling James that Mary can't be saved and that she will die soon from the original. But in the remake James refuses to read it for some reason

Honestly I can see why they didn't make the great knife a weapon for James if you think about it Pyramid Head a being that can lift you up with one hand and can bust trough walls has issues with carrying it. How the hell would James carry it the same as PH? Also 1 or 2 shotting some bosses would have lowered the first time experience of them. But who knows maybe they will add it later as DLC for NG+ .

No, there is mistake when saying Maria is an imagination, and literally saying it straight that the developers made - "BORN from a wish". Maria is "birthed" in DLC is INCORRECT. The meaning of the title is deep. You see, there is a big reason why Ernest Baldwin said to Maria "Oh! you must be..." and "Be careful, James is danger" meant something. Ernest Baldwin warned Maria about James is because of the Pyramid head weapon. Years ago, one of the developers in Japan, Masahiro Ito, said "Pyramid head's weapon is large one-side part of a scissor/shear (thought to be large blade, but no), and it depicts that James has the other side of the scissor tip". Which means is that, when James ended Mary's life. She was a victim of Pyramid head, although James killed her for the Pyramid head. Mary is supposed to be a sacrifice for the cult's demonic deity. She is a victim, as shown from an image of pyramid head with hanged rectangular structures in Historical Museum. This, in relation to Mary boss fight when she changes to a ghostly figure with rectangular structure. Back to Maria, Ernest warned Maria about Pyramid head, not exactly James. In the elevator chase scene, Pyramid head stabbed and killed Maria (Ernest thought it was James because of the weapon). Maria is a real human person, up until Pyramid-head stabbed her and killed her. Ever since then, that incident, Maria is a different person. She is now a puppet of the cult's demonic deity. She became another embodiment of Mary, since they resemble one another (also, part of the wish of the cult's demonic influence because of the other purpose). She is now a different being. James is an important symbol to the 21 sacraments of the cult's deity goddess. He is innocent in ending Mary's life for Pyramid head, and James is innocent by judgement of Pyramid head. So evident that ignores James a lot, especially the scissor-weapon Pyramid head, the other two Pyramid heads are spear weapons. James has two purpose or meaning for the cult. One, being a sacrament (sacrifice), and two, symbol of the "white chrism". This can only be defined depending on the cult's main and current objective, seems to be adjusting (probably because of the game depended on ending). If he dies while recollected with Mary's memory, they will join together in death, although that will be in the otherworld (hell), serving as cult's puppets. I found a clue by somebody written in blood above the jukebox at night, that says: "If you Really wAnt to sEE Mary, you should just DiE. But You might be hEading to A different place than MARY" (letter capitalization is observed and similar). Before, I thought James was dead in start because of delusional amnesia, he seems like a searching ghost. But James is NOT DEAD. James lost his memories after taking suicide. In addition to this, during the first save point upon entering the graveyard, he said: "Ugh! It's like someone's groping around my skull", which means that someone touching him intimately and unintentionally. I think Mary is reaching him to remember, otherwise if he dies, they will not meet. The other purpose the cult has for James is him being the symbol of "white chrism". The "wish" made Maria still alive even though killed by Pyramid head. Because Maria is symbol of the goblet, and then their CHILD is the philosopher's stone. Which is the next vessel for the cult's demonic deity, just like Alessa/Alessir. This is similar to Silent Hill 1 myth. Well anyway, if Maria isn't real, why could she deeply express her feelings properly in response to James, physically and emotionally, UNTIL she was stabbed by Pyramid head, her empathy changed from organic to plastic, which is very revealing even if asked from a psychologist.
All might be answered, maybe, if Konami and Bloober Team will explain the story in Silent Hill 5 or future game. They should continue the story of Maria, James, Laura and Ernest Baldwin, since Eddie and Angela already ended their lives here.

For starters, the "Born From A Wish" was a very hastily put together, borderline unofficial expansion pack, made originally only for the Xbox port, within less than a year. It's safe to say that anything it introduced should be taken with a hefty grain of salt, the very least. It has nothing to do with "demonic deities", nor was the cult a demon-worshipping pact. They were radical CHRISTIANS, that had only adopted SOME local pagan rituals to their own teachings...simply because it worked. They wanted to create a living GOD, which was given a monstrous image because miss you-know-who was so terrified of it all. And none of that matters in SH2, other than it explaining why the town's area is so "broken" now, the local power essentially running haywire on auto-pilot.
Also, this whole "EVERYONE IS DEAD AND A GHOST!!" is LITERALLY a remake-only theory, now essentially confirmed by the cracking of various obvious clues pointing towards time-loop / purgatory. tl;dr: SH2 2001 happened, and SH2 2024 is a (shitty) sequel that keeps changing stuff so much, even the characters are confused.

Unlimited ammo isnt neccesary at all. Even shooting lots of enemies, on Hard difficulty, I have, as I write this after beating Flesh Lips, 16 shotgun shells and 210 bullets for the handgun. The game literally feeds you with ammo.
Only thing Im missing is Hyper Spray, and a 10 star rank. The game is a bit too easy and you cant have the satisfaction to beat this game and feel proud, whereas a 10-star rank would have.

How fortunate that we are to have this game not only in a known, extractable engine (Unreal 5,) but also untainted by DRM like Denuvo. In the modern day of games made completely un-modifiable, Silent Hill 2 Remake can quite easily be picked apart, and there were model replacement and overhaul mods as early as the first few days after release. I imagine that there will be a mod to restore 1.0 retail disc features on the PC version, if that hasn't already been done.
I appreciate that you didn't do that UA-camr™ thing of saying "they did this *for some reason*" without any deeper analysis or looking into why or "this would have been SO much better than what we got in the final game" without any consideration for why it was changed in the first place like so many youtube channels tend to do for cut content. The "secret photos" form a message that literally says "YOU'VE BEEN HERE FOR TWO DECADES", and all the "memories of the past" eastereggs are literally iconic key moments from the 2001 SH2 to boot. I think the misconception is that Born from a wish is included with in later versions of the game. It was originally an Xbox exclusive and then included in the GH re-release for PS2. It is not in the original release.

The top things that were either removed or watered down are those two scenes with pyramid head and the mannequins. You don't remove the most disturbing things. You just don't do it. The remake is game of the year but it's definitely not better than the original which is the truly disturbing experience. It's so upsetting because all these people and myself are getting a cheapened version. Everyone needs to play or watch the original. I own both now but if I own only one, it's the original for those those truly disturbing experiences.

This remake is really peaks and valleys of quality and faithfulness. Some areas are untouched, others are changed completely. Really disappointing to see what they did with the Great Knife and Hyper Spray, also the dog ending. As a fan of the original, I found this to be a very disappointing, almost cynical remake. It really feels like the devs couldn't agree on anything. Also it's very bloated with uninspired puzzles and pretty surface level as far as understanding of it's deeper themes though. Also having Maria make quips every few seconds when she's following you... such an annoying modern video game trope.
So sad there was some stuff taken out of the Silent Hill 2 Remake but it is still an amazing game overall.

I can't say this is a faithful remake, very much more like a reboot. Pyramid scenes are all different and butchered as well as other scenes changed for better or worse. Maria outfit, unlockable, and more. Now it would not be as bad to me if the narrative did not feel worse than the original, but the game has little scenes where if you click on something like the spray its a "reference" to cut content. I really don't need to be reminded hey this is not in the remake every 5-10 minutes.
I am glad many people love the game, and got to experience the story even if not as good as the original, but I can't call it faithful. I think most people who played the remake never played a sh game before, or at least 1-4 so I bet the experience is 9\10 for majority of people.
