    Barranco is middle class. The richest people in Lima live in gated neighbourhoods- just like Johannesburg-in the suburbs. Every time I get depressed/bored in North America I escape to Lima for a weekend food trip and swimming in barranco beach. Lima has the best food in the planet.

    • @lifetheorycouple

      The super rich always gate themselves in a community. That’s common in Dallas Texas area too. Interesting stuff!

    • @celdur4635
      @celdur4635 9 днів тому +1

      San Isidro, Miraflores, Surco, San Borja and Barranco also have very rich people, in fact they have more (since there are more buildings) the gated places are just houses, although most people prefer to live inside the city.

    Yes, there's kind of a surfing culture in the coast line, actually surfing is the sport that has given Peru the most trophies, world championships, pan am games, etc. Tocosh is something that some people would eat for health purposes only, e.g. it is recommended for stomach cancer

    • @lifetheorycouple

      THANK YOU! - Surfing has been a bucket list for us to try for a long time. We really loved it! --- Tocosh might have many benefits, but it's difficult to stomach. Several people were saying the same exact thing about it's benefits for healing and cancer prevention.

    Thanks for your video. I always enjoy them. Did you go to the Cathedral that had the Catacombs? I highly recommend seeing that if you haven’t. I saw it as a part of the City Day Tour. There they had so many bones and skulls. If is hard to believe they belonged to someone who once was living. I also took the night city tour. That tour stopped by the Aqua Park which is next to the city stadium. It is a beautiful place. Are you going to go to Cusco and Machu Picchu? Maybe you will want to stay in the Sky Lodge on the way there with a beautiful view of the Sacred Valley. There is so much to see in Peru. Good luck on your visit there.

      THANK YOU! - Since the time and making of this video... We have gone to Cusco, saw and did a lot... But, we chose NOT to do Machu Picchu for a handful of reasons, which will be stated in an upcoming video.... We only had 2 weeks in Lima and we worked a normal 9-5 schedule Monday-Friday... So, we didn't get to see Catacombs and many other museums and such in Lima. We're definitely want to go back. The good new is.... Since Bogota Colombia is a home base for us, we aren't too far away to give Lima another shot and spend more time there.

    I have something to say, Lima has 44 districts, the upscale ones you wrongly mention, are actually middle class districts that are the most part of the city: San Miguel, Magdalena, Jesus María, Pueblo libre, Cercado, San Isidro, Miraflores, Barranco, Surco, San Borja, San Luis, Chorrillos, la Molina, Santa Anita, Lince, Brena, etc. There are other newer districts situated in the outskirts of Lima, which are disorganized and rural, but absolutely they are not the most part of the city.

    • @lifetheorycouple
      @lifetheorycouple  12 днів тому +2

      Thank you! - This is a fair point. We spent most our time in Miraflores and Barranco. I guess... Compared to many places we've been to, those two neighborhoods felt very upscale comparatively. It's notice to know that there are even more upscale places. We'll definitely have to come back soon.

      @@lifetheorycouple In actuality, both Miraflores and San Isidro are neither middle class nor upper class, but upper middle class. If you want to see it by socioeconomic levels, both districts are populated by people who most likely belong to the socioeconomic level B. By the way, Lima has 43 districts, instead of 44 as the other person mentioned.

    Hello, welcome to Lima, my city. I live in Magdalena del Mar, a district next to the ocean. It is a family-oriented districts, no discoteques , no bars, no nightlife, but a lot of parks for taking our dogs to walk around. Cheaper than Miraflores. It is considered a traditional area in Lima. Walking distance to the ocean too. The Mercado de Magdalena is one of the best in Lima. We can get everything we need there. In my district we have a lot of good quality bakeries, cheese shop, shoe shop, taylor shop, abundance of pharmacies, supermarkets, etc. It is oriented to the family and children.

Nowadays, there are a lot of meat places, specialist on this but theyre not meat prodúcers like Argentina or Uruguay. Peru is best country for hiking and trekking in Latin America (Huayhuash, Cordillera Blanca, Ausangate, etc). Outside Lima we can visit a lot of place for hiking (LUGARES PARA VISITAR CERCA A LIMA). It is true, some areas of Lima are chaotic, but we are not going to live everywhere in Lima. Bogota is the greenest city in Latin America, it is unbeatable, but Lima is characterized by having parks we beautiful decoration in the middle/high class areas. Most of bakeries are open at 6:00am. Here we have churrasquerias, what are special red meat places. You are right about they are not on “el menu”, more of a special place to eat. We are more onto fish/seafood than red-meat. I eat 3 times per week fish what is cheap, extremely healthy, good for my brain, etc. During the winter time, Lima has very sporadic sun, but after 30-90 minutes in the direction of the East, when can enjoy sunny-full-days as in Santa Rosa de Quives, Chaclacayo, Calango, etc. Hope this helps.

    I dont get why you tried tocosh. You See Tocosh is a very old recipe, we are talking about something before incas, maybe as old as the cebiche (5000 years old), or the Pachamanca (2500 years old) but is not quite clear the reason why the peruvians back in time ate that. Is even probably a medicine, like an ancient antibiotic for the stomach. *EDIT I just checked and the Tocosh is 1000 years old . I dont get why some people sell that to tourist. ¿Maybe just to watch if they ate that? xD I am not kidding, that is something common around the world. For example at china or japan they find really funny to convince the gringo or european tourist to try or eat many things they never ate at their regular lives. And they do it with a very serious expression at their faces, so gringos or europeans leave those places whitout even knowing they were the joke of the day.
