Hi Thabo, I just want to mention about the wheel lifts: A Unimog is supposed to have about 30 degrees of axle rotation front and rear. If one compares the Doka coming down the last step to your mog, one can see the difference. Approaching a step at an angle so that one wheel will climb first is a good way to test for a problem here. The lack of axle rotation will also inhibit the ability to traverse a side slope, the mog should be able to do about 28 degrees side slope. To put these values into perspective, on 40 inch tyres, this will mean that the bottom of one tyre will be about the same level as the top of the other one. It's great to see someone using their Mog for what they are supposed to be for: proper 4WD'ing :+) I guess so many owners have so much invested in their trucks, they become rather risk averse. Anyway keep up the good work; love your videos, have seen them all !!
Was great to get away with you thabo. Thanks for helping me with the tyre change mate. I ended up finding out that the reason I lost the air out of my tyre was before I was running the advance tyres I had bkt tyres on there so the wheel bands were slightly thinner to suit the bkt's , now that I run the advance I have had to put wheel bands to suit those so it actually locks the bead up against the rim. Was great heading out with you mate. See you in the high country soon
Curious… Heard a fair bit of braking in the downhill technical sections. Having never driven a Unimog, I thought they had super low range crawler gears. Or is not that low in reality?
Yes that is correct. You’re supposed to select the low gear you will need, let the engine do the braking. Stay away from the clutch and only supplement with brake pedal.
Thanks. Tough mature men in their old solid trucks ... and in a very nice setting. Best of luck with the dating business Thabo.
Great video mate. That DOCA is my ultimate goal

Nice! A lot of work for a short drive...these tracks are where shorter wheel-bases really shine!

Very happy it wasn't a sidewall. Was a great meetup, had a lot of fun that weekend.
Nice wheel lift at the end it looked a bit scary there for a minute
Nice trip. And I hope you find a good partner 🙂. What happened we with the tire?
The bead locks didn't hold so it just let the air out, not a major.
@@ThaboNelmeanshappiness ok. Good 👍🏻

As seen in this Mercedes driving school video

It's my bad driving, when it's not too wild using the breaks is useful.
