She's marvellous, but the orchestra have had made her crazy... the violins were high and the flutes were low... this aria is very difficult... she could do it even with the orchestra problems, she's great!
Well, “caro mio ben” is deceptively simple. It takes someone with a lot of refined skill to pull that aria off beautifully so maybe not the best example but I feel you.

I have to disagree with the stranger (der fremde). I think her voice and the color in her young voice is exciting. I will say that I, too, feel that there should have been real staccato in the descending line. Other than that, I think Stranger and his friend are much too critical, really absurdly overly critical, of this young woman's performance here.

You will need more colour if you want to sing Italian... legato before the trill is lazy... she doesn't even bother with some staccati... a piacere when she shouldn't... portamenti when she shouldn't... this song is so difficult, why do they so want to sing it so badly.
I AGREE with you. I am aware that she is still quite young. However, the voice lacks the NEEDED purity for what is demanded. She seems void of it. Therefore the SCREECHING and SQUEALING that results in a METALLIC and unwanted sound. However, I hope that is only a matter of poor technique that can be easily remedied. This is NOT YET my cup of tea.
Completely defer from you. There's a lot of "col canto" and "a piacere" in this aria. That's why there have been fabulous sopranos that have sung it differently. And she has the perfect voice and style for it.

AND ALL the singers usually could sing till 80 years old or more! but...nowadays..can you imagine why their career stops so early?..yes! they totally DESTROY their throat!
