Just sold about $10k worth of canon gear on FB marketplace and got pretty much what I paid for it. I buy my gear used so I typically don’t lose money. I switched to Nikon. Z8, 800mm 6.3, 14-24mm, 180-600mm, and their third party Viltrox 16mm. Canon to me was just too many disappointing items. Great brand tho but as a wildlife photographer canon has inferior telephoto lens compared to Nikon.
I almost made the same switch. Nikon ergonomics and weight and the lack of a mechanical shutter for really fast-moving subjects turned me off. But that's why they make more than one kind of camera. (My ideal would have been a Z9 in an R1 body with Nikon lens mount, with R1 controls and a mechanical shutter for backup.)
Already ordered the R1, but if the R1s/x/whatever is 80MP, I would get one, as long as it allows the option of shooting photos at lower resolution, like 30MP.
well what do you expect? Canon never marketed the R1 as a ‘master of everything’. It was these youtubers and rumour sites. Canon’s flagship has always been a lower MP but faster camera
Throwing out new rumors even before the R1 and R5II are available to the general public is testament of the market's overall disappointment of these new cameras. The R1 is essentially an upgraded R3 and the R5 II is an incremental upgrade to the R5. The "wow" is not there and Canon missed its mark. For me, I would think Canon would come out with and R1 with a global shutter and perhaps 33-45 mp. I still believe there's room for a R5IIs having 61-80 mp and 18+ stops of dynamic range. But I'm afraid that is at least a year or two away.
I like the extreme high ISO of the R1 ... same as Sony's A7S series... Do you know if video is the same high ISO as in photo ? or limited to lower ISO ?
Hi Simon, I just did a night time video using the Nikon Zfc DX (APSC) using an adapter K&F Concepts M42 to Nikon Z Mount and was amazed at the quality of a lens that was made in 1978. Yes there was noise but the photos were excellent. It amazes me that people are always complaining that they want the best stuff at the cheapest price. I do not listen to the Naysayers. Nikon Z6III 1-1.5 Stops less of Dynamic Range or the Canon R1 not a Flagship Camera because of lower megapixel count, etc. I tend to buy gear that I am interested in using and have fun. So My Nikon 1 (J5 & V3) can do about 10 minutes of 1080p 60 recorded video, which doesn't stop me from using a Dummy Battery, Power Bank and plenty of SD storage space to make things work for me. Less time to worry about things just to get the right shot. If you minus one flaw but have plenty of extra features that the gear can do that is not a problem for me. I find a workaround and Enjoy the experience more. Cheers!
I love the idea of new cameras because everyone is pushing the boundaries of what we can currently do. But I don't feel the need to buy every new thing coming out. It takes time to master something, to get the most out of it. My son started doing videos again and picked up the 70D. Lots of value in old gear, but it is new gear that gets our attention. You seem to pick up a lot of new gear too ;)
@@OrdinaryFilmmaker Yes I do do use them but am downsizing. I have been buying vintage lenses and using adapters for different camera brands. Trying to figure out which brand I will stay with. It seems I may be getting rid of the Leica L Mount and Canon. I loaned Canon R10 to a UA-camr we know and waiting for his first video of what he thinks of it. Unfortunately on his Live Stream it overheated! Oh Well! I was complimenting You on your stand of old gear which I wholeheartedly agree with. Cheers!
There is a point of no return where the resolving power of optics cannot resolve the fine detail of high pixel density sensors. The R7 sensor is an example where a 9.8 mp / cm2 starts to put heavy load on the lens ( see C frost reviews).A 45mp sensor is 5.2mp/cm2 and a 61mp sensor is 7.1 mp/cm2 which i believe is the limit of full frame.
As an owner of the Canon 1DsMkII, I must say that the files (RAW) that I shot over the years, since 2005, still impress me today. I am very happy with my R5 and R3, but... would be totslly excited about a R1s, if it were to happen.
@@OrdinaryFilmmaker Hi Simon... no, I will wait to see if a "s" series is anounced. If I was going to upgrade it would be the R5mkII at this time, but I am quite happy with both cameras I have right now.
I’ve still got my 1ds…at the time after just getting out of film …it was mind blowing…still takes great shots with low iso….if you’re right here Simon this is my dream camera …still got r5mkii on order tho …thx for sharing
Hi Simon. I love Canon and have shot with them for years. Sadly it’s time to part. My demanding job has taken me to Sony reluctantly. I do feel Canon have not come out with any better than what Sony and Nikon have out there already and they have had their models out for a while now. I think Canon are now seriously playing catch up with flagships.
I would go a step farther. IF Canon has a "flagship," it's not the R1. You can't do a 24MP "flagship" in 2024. IF there's a flagship, it's the R5ii. And sadly, the R5ii doesn't compete well with the other brands' flagship cameras. Canon doesn't have a competitive "flagship" camera -- and they just took their best shot!
I don't think so, I think when Canon merge the lineup of 1D and 1Ds into 1D X (which are the continuation of 1D line but in full frame form factor) and Nikon also do the same by not released any more of X model of their flagships, it should be understand that the ultra high end with full size camera body (I mean a body with built in vertical grip) and high resolution sensor is ceased to existed, because you don't really need big body with built-in vertical grip for studio camera with low burst rates and the semi-pro lineup is more suitable for that kind of work and even that I remembered the Canon 5Ds and 5DsR are flopped, not a successful product at all as we can find one new in box in camera store many years after it released (even after EOS R5 released the 5Ds and 5DsR still aren't sold out in some place which indicated that they're a hard sell). I don't think Canon will release R1X after all of these as there will not be a market for such camera and it will end up in similar way as 5Ds and 5DsR. And let's say it will be the same kind of camera as Nikon Z9 with burst rate similar to R1, I think it will occupied a price point of $8000 (same as 1Ds lineup) in order to not eat up R1, I don't think in this day and age it will sell. And the whole point of 1Ds lineup is just too show off that they have highest resolution camera in the market and Canon isn't in the position to do thing like that since 2008 as they're not the one who have the highest resolution camera in the market anymore (when they put 21MP sensor of 1Ds Mark III in 5D Mark II it's clear they decided to abandon this market segment) and megapixel war is pretty much come to and end in mid 2010s. So there is no point for such camera to existed anymore.
He did a few things, he references wild specs from the past, gave his thoughts and stated that a good quality source says the R1X/R1S - a high resolution version is one the way. What I would take away is that the is another R1 camera in the works, whether it see the light of day is another story, let alone the specs. Its not uncommon to prototype multiple cameras.
Yeah. 18 stops of dynamic range... You wish. AND global shutter? When we know it decreases DR? And their sports flagship doesn't have it? Also, QPAF when their sports flagship doesn't have it? I don't buy any of it AT ALL. This doesn't sound like anything to take seriously, and I'm baffled this even made it into a video.
@@OrdinaryFilmmaker I have been saying this ever since the R1 was confirmed to get a 24 MP sensor. There will probably be a second body with atleast 45 to 50MP stacked sensor and overall better frame rates and video specs compared to the R5 ii . I reckon they will probably release after the Sony A1 and Nikon Z9 are refreshed just to gauge the competition.
@@suchetdas5392 I don't think Canon has not the processing power for such a high res camera. The r5ii needs cooling how would that manage a fast 80mega pickels camera
Should Canon have called the R1 the "R3-II" and have the R5-II join it? Good speculation. I'm not an electronics engineer, so I can't say what's possible that Canon could combine into one camera in terms of specs, but 24 megapixels? That's the number that made my heart sink. I feel as though Sony A1 owners are laughing. Nikon Z8 owners are laughing.
I doubt this rumour it's probably even initiated by them so we hang in there. It just keeps moaners quiet for 6 months or so. Canon is likely worried what the Sony A1II will bring it's got to be coming sooner than anything like an R1x. Even the Z9II might appear before it. I'm seeing good discounts.
I see we've all moved on from the R5 II and the R1. On to the next camera. The idea of a higher resolution R1 is very appealing to me. I photograph birds. I often crop. Here's the thing, we all drive ourselves crazy with megapixels. Weren't we all happy back in the day? You mentioned how 11.1 mp was amazing. I do wonder if rumors of an R1X or R1S will have certain photographers hesitating over purchasing the R1. Canon must really hate these rumors. My thoughts at the moment are hoping that I receive the R5 II next month. Thanks for this news, Simon!
I wasn't expecting bold rumours this early. I'm just relaxing enjoying my time off before I go back to work. I still shot with the 70D and 20mp was more than enough. But more is needed... I wonder if we were better off with film... resolution never came up ;)
5MP was once considered good enough. But have you looked at those images lately? Because of the availability of higher res sensors, the art of bird photography has changed. Back in the day, we were essentially doing landscape photography that happened to have a bird in the frame. (Some people are still doing that.) Nowadays, if we're not getting catchlight in the eyes and incredible feather detail, our work looks seriously dated -- like a snapshot. Until the fashion changes again, neither 5MP nor 24MP will cut it. All the non-Canon manufacturers have understood this for at least three years.
@@billmartin1663 I'm a bird photographer myself. I would never consider the R1 strictly based on 24 mp. I have an R5 II on pre-order. I've already sold my R5. Everything you wrote ... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
EXITING! I have one question regarding something we’d potentially get a little sooner though. Have you heard anything from your sources about 4K Fine being limited to only 30fps in the R5 Mark II? I wonder if Canon will give us a firmware update bringing 8K oversampled 4K60p to the R5 Mark II since even the R5C had it and it was originally advertised by Canon Europe that 8K oversampled 4K60p was going to be included in the R5 II. Canon should at least match what Nikon has offered for years at this point. Oversampled 4K60p is beautifully detailed. PLEASE Canon!
@@OrdinaryFilmmaker I did! I watch all your videos the second they come out (subscribed + bell) My question is something else though. 4K Fine is clearly limited to only 30fps according to the manual but that can change with a firmware update. So have you heard anything regarding this unnecessary and disappointing limitation? I don’t want to give up hope that Canon will bring 8K oversampled 4K60p like we’ve seen in the R5C to the R5 Mark II via a firmware update! They seemingly want to protect their R5C and artificially limit the R5 II in order to sell more R5Cs by leaving 8K oversampled 4K60p as an exclusive feature for the R5C which is very disappointing. They should at least match Nikon with their 8.6K oversampled 4K60p in their Z8 and Z9!
I was speaking to Jordan and he sees no technical reason why it could not happen. I agree. However, I'm curious to know if the 4K60 is any better in quality than the MK1 with the new sensor and processing capabilities. I wonder if this could be one of those differentiators between the R5C II and the R5 II, and that's your viewpoint too. Let's see what we like and don't like after it ships, I can then pick the most annoying thing and push for a change in firmware update ;)
@@OrdinaryFilmmakerActually in the video in which you have shown the manual, I saw that 4K 60p oversampled SRAW is actually an option on the R5 Mark II. Of course I won't know unless more comprehensive reviews such as you or Gerald Undone come out with their videos. But the oversampled 4K 60p in SRAW if provided will be good enough for me. It does require additional processing and I would have preferred a Clog2 version of this mode.. but I guess something's better than nothing..
@@suchetdas5392 where does it say that 4K60p SRAW will be downsampled from 8K though? Nothing beyond 30fps is oversampled as far as I know. So where are you getting from that the R5 Mark II is capable of 8K oversampled 4K60p? It’s not oversampled but line skipped 4K60p
I would not. Even if the R1X is something, it won't see the light of day until 2025. We don't have any specs and no other validation other than what Andrew has told us.
Canon releases the R3 but then says "hey wait, this isn't our flagship, its comming." Then they realease the R1 and the shout out from the rooftops "This is our flagship". But then people complain, that it's really a R3mii. So then before the R1 ships we now hearing hey wait, our flaship isn't really our flaghship. We gonna a do a true R1X flagship. And AT THE SAME TIME, they are saying that the R3 is going to continue???? Well if they make an R1X that will just make the R1 MORE like an R3mii. In a world where there is an R1X can someone please explain to me what an R3 is for?
not too bothered about High pixels just 45 -60 would be more than enough to crop a global shutter not so sure. and do they need quad pix AF ? may be not a fast Mechanical shutter 16-20 FPS I'll be on the way to pre order it LOL
The way to partially check R1X-rummor out it compare recently published canon's patents with it's implementation in R1 and R5ii, as far as i remember, some of them are definitely not find it's place in recent cameras. With R1-type body, 18+ stops of DR and other bests from R1 and R5ii it will be the great deal for me.
There is a new R1 coming, in 4 years and it’s the R1 II 😂. All joking aside, it doesn’t make any sense. Multiple 1 series cameras is fine, but why is there an R3? Either it’s back to the R3 was the R1 or the rumour is just a wild rumour wish list for PR because if the rumours were true, why would the R1 not have just been the R3 mkii since it does feel like a R3 refresh?
The 1D cameras had crop sensors (1.3X) and the 1DS cameras had a full frame. Only the 1D Mark VI was the last. Then Canon came with the 1D X (Mark I, II and II) The 1DS cameras always had more megapixels than the 1D cameras but less frames per second. So an EOS R1S could be true. 80 or 100 Megapixels?
Well, there are a couple cameras that you stated had patent registrations earlier this year...just saying 😊 People will start a fight over anything. Lets test that. I shoot a Canon R7, and half my lenses are adapted full frame glass including a 70-200 f2.8L. I'm partial to Jeeps, having owned and/or driven a Compass, Cherokee, Wrangler Sahara, and Wrangler Rubicon. And I find karate to be a far more pracrical form of martial arts than others. *grabs a coffee*
I have pointed this out many times. The 1 series historically consists of TWO different bodies. Two sensor sizes. So i wouldn't be surprised at all if Canon releases another R1Whatever with a larger sensor.
Several cameras are due out this fall. I'm focused on the R10 and R7 myself. Personally, I'd like to see Canon make these cameras just a little bit bigger. The R10 is definitely too small.
@@OrdinaryFilmmaker Ditto on that! I never bought one, but I wanted either that or the R50 for the wife. She didn't like the forma factor of either though, despite her having smaller hands than me o_O
@FraterABYA The R50, I believe, is roughly the same body as the M50, which is where I came from. Forget using the EVF as that was a very small camera. Good for travel, though. I also jumped onto the R7, and I'm loving it despite some of the shortcomings. I hope the mkII will benefit from the BSI se sor design and new autofocus algorithms. Throw in a larger buffer with a battery grip, and I'll he a happy camper with an R7ii.
I am so sick of all the speculation. The R1 has been a huge disappointment to all of us who have been patiently waiting more four years for a real Canon R1.
@@jordanmitchell1433the z6iii has good rolling shutter only in jpeg, and cannot shoot more than 14fps in raw, even if it does 60fps jpeg or 120 fps jpeg with 1.5 times crop
So we had years of waffle about R1 and R5 MkII and before they are even out we are now moving to R1X or R3 MkII. It’s getting frankly ridiculous. You’re going to lose subscribers if you continue down this road Simon, it’s getting boring. You could offer so much more by providing jargon busting information about video recording. Have the occasional tittle tattle by all means but it’s all getting really daft.
I’ll tell you what would be a revolution as big as 5Dm4 to mirrorless, it would be the ability to custom order your features. It would be hands-down, the biggest money making camera industry in the world. They’d just have to have a universal housing body or two models to choose from. The rest would be totally automated the way you order a car.
I believe the R5II will take away from the R1 sales and R3. An R1X will make the R1 surplus to requirements, unless there is a substantial delay. My guess is that Canon was testing multiple new sensors for the R1, and the 24mp came out on top. It could also be an issue of realtime delivery of photos to a publisher or event slideshow. I still think Canon should focus on rapid transfer of photos to a cloud and then publisher or event slideshow. Wedding photos at the reception, as an example.
Translation: PLEASE, PLEEEEEEEEEEASE DON'T LEAVE CANON FOR ANOTHER MANUFACTURER! Sure, Nikon makes more and better bird cameras and lenses. Sure, both Nikon and Sony make multiple TRUE high-res flagship cameras -- and have for three years now. PLEASE BELIEVE THERE'S SOMETHING BETTER COMING FROM CANON!!! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE!! (Sorry. I'm not buying it. If they could do it, they would have done it. The "Master of Everything" ship has sailed . . . and sunk.)
The only good bird cameras at Nikon are the Z9 and Z8. Unsure if the z6iii joins those two. With Canon the R3, R5, R6, R6mkii, and R7 are all very capable bird cameras for multiple budgets.
Those two Nikon cameras coupled with the PF lenses are far superior for birds to anything Canon can offer. Canon doesn't even make a lens comparable to the PF telephoto primes.
@@christophercarlimages9003 , I think the R5 with the RF 100-500 is a pretty decent bird rig. The big primes function very well in that role -- but they're all over $12,000. But unless you count landscapes with birds in them as "bird" photos, nothing under 45MP need apply. And Canon is THE 24MP camera company.
@@num1hendrickfanfrom now, the z6iii does not have a dedicated Bird detection AF mode so even a Canon R8 is better than z6iii for BIF. Better otherwise, if we don't think BIF, the z6iii is an overall better camera than R8 and R6ii.
@@romainplagnol882 the R6 MKii is quite stellar at BIF. Same goes for the R7 though the R6 MKii has the edge over the R7. Of course a lot depends on the type of birds and other wildlife one photographs. The R7 is quite amazing with raptors and many of the shorebirds you'll find at the beach. It's quite competent with ducks, and even smaller birds such as hummingbirds. I am eagerly awaiting winter to compare the R6 MKii to the R7 as far as ducks go, performed amazingly well with a Green winged teal. The biggest factor is the person using the camera. While the Z6 and Z7 line up aren't particularly great birding cameras, it's possible one could compensate for lack of features to accomplish excellent shots.
Hmm Simon, I'd even "compromise" on the megapickles when they'd put the exact Red V Raptor sensor in a R1 body .. if only the Big Three Japanese respected their company colors, with Nikon acquiring Yellow and Canon acquiring Red, leaving Sony to play with Orange 😛
It seems to make a curtain amount of sense. Whilst not wishing to hit on Canon the R1 is not the master of all. It's no A1 or Z9, more of a A9 plus. As it does have some features that could be argued set it above the A9 but we are with in a particular segment of professional camera. Yet,given that professional photography is segmentented a R1 X & or R1 S makes some sense. A R1 for each segment? I suppose you could then call the R1 line up the master of all, leaving Nikon and Sony battling for the hybrid crown. I speculate that the reason is not so much sensor technology but compute technology and energy needs. Sony appear to be trying to work around this problem by using dual compute units, this maybe a short term solution whilst waiting for more powerful & more energy efficient compute units are developed. Sony do have a history of sitting on technology and waiting for the right moment to release it so they may already (or be close to having) such compute units.
The R1 is a very capable camera, sure a bit overpriced for the spec however still a capable camera.. the real money winner is surely the R5ii that is a HUGE milestone compare to the old R5 especially in the video capabilities… can’t wait for those video spec such as stacked and Clog2 to be in camera like the r6iii and the R7ii and even the R8ii
Honestly this does sound like a dream camera body, however it's more like a wishlist rumour... But surely want one to get real.. and yeah agree that the current R1 sounds more like R3 mark ii, and released in a hurry just to launch it before the Olympics so that they don't disappoint sports photographers..
It's going to be several years before Canon releases a Higher MP count R1. So the next Game Changer will be a low MP Count global shutter in the R3. The next game Changer will be a Fully stacked Sensor in the R7ii.
14:13 I Agree completely Simon. That is so 3rd grade when arguments start over brand. Regardless of what you’re shooting with, as long as you are capturing the moment, what does it matter?
In the days of Atari vs Amiga, I was a little Amiga is better than Atari, but again I was missing the point then... It's better for me, but that doesn't make Atari a bad choice either.
What if canon made an "eos r mark ii" and call it the r2. 30.3mp, E6 battery with updated autofocus and 4k120. Add a second card slot and it's game over🤯 Or just give us a firmware update🤔
Wow this makes me mad! Basically Canon is undermining the supposed flagship by saying, don't worry guys, after you wait until Christmas for the R1 and spend $6300 we have something even better coming in the next year! 😒 This is even worse than DJI and their constant updated drone releases
If you don't have a credible flagship, you have to generate legends of the future. The R3 "not a flagship" was obviously such a ploy. Sadly, now we have the R3ii -- also not really a flagship.
It's time to believe that their dual-pixel and quad-pixel approach is costing them real estate on the sensor, hence they are going with low MP cameras. People who can churn out ground-breaking tech can't guess what customers would think before releasing it, or what the so-called privileged testers are providing in terms of feedback. In my opinion, there's no need to secretly produce cameras; leave the specs to the public and let them be refined. Competition is about how well one achieves the specs rather than the specs themselves. if MP is not a concern what was wrong with R1. subconsciously we all prefer high MP if rest of the features are not compromised.
Seriously Simon!!?? I just posted a comment on this very thing. Who in the world knew??.... You did Simon, that's why you loved my post, you rascal you! 👍🏾🤗😎 Sooooo, what was the purpose of the R1?? 🤔 (Unecessary Equipment) 😔
I was just relaxing on the porch when it came my way... was supposed to be my day off ;) The R1 is just like the 1DX III - aimed at the same people doing the same thing, but faster, more accurate improving the hit rate. The r3... probably meant to stem the bleeding from the A1 and the Z9...
Looking the promo Canon put out , still on their IG page, they shoot the stick of camera and lenses at the Olympics… they show the badging of the R1’s and one of the badges is intentionally covered up…. You might be in to something. 🤷🏾♂️
Simon... come on man! If this hype run with Canon has taught the consumer anything; if it sounds to good to be true it probably is. Show me the camera in a photographers hands then I'll pay attention.
Well it is, but it isn't the Nikon Z9 shows that this type of camera is plausible. I'm not counting on it, just don't be surprised as this story has started to make the rounds.
Simple answer is: it depends. Depends on what you shoot. Some Pros will answer yes and some will answer no. It's about capabilities and value chains. From my viewpoint the Z9 would be a better fit for me over the R1 because I don't shoot sports and fast action much. The Z9 is a more general purpose camera.
@@beinfocusacademy are you being serious? How can you even compare the two? The R1 is completely useless for landscape photographers for example so while the R1 is certainly an amazingly capable camera it’d be absurd to say that it beats the Z9 flat out. In some categories. Yes. But the Z9 will best the R1 in other categories. The Z9 is a far far more capable video camera as well giving you 8.6K60p 12-Bit RAW internally and 8.6K oversampled 4K60p
Ya gotta the social network...and how Canon uses marketing to keep consumers interested...in pie of the sky wishes....interesting but I won't be buying a R1 or any of the variations but hey maybe SI will buy a load of them....
With this news why would anyone buy R1??? The release of R1 just makes no sense... I am so lost with Canon strategy at this point, I don't think they know what they are doing...
While the Canon R1 isn’t all that was expected, I think the biggest negative is the price. Put the R1 at Nikon’s $5500 and it will sell well. On the other hand the R5 II will be a massive hit. We have to get away from this megapixel war. People are still using Nikon d700, and D4’s and producing excellent images, and these are at 12 and 16 megapixels. I shot an event video and photography with a A7SIII at 12megapixels and the files were great. People were doing landscape photography, and wildlife especially with the d4. You don’t need to have a lot of megapixels you just need to know how to use what you got.
Bonkers just bonkers, so it’s a double self own. Because they’re going to seriously piss off customers who’ve preordered and purchased the £6999 R1 only to find out a better camera is coming out soon. Two the R1 costs £7000 so it’s logical to assume this R1X will be what £9999!. So good luck canon selling a £10k camera. Hardly anyone apart from the 1% of professionals have been willing to preorder the R1 for £6999 so good luck charging upwards of £10k for a R1X!. Logically it has to be £10k to fit in above the R1. As if those specs are the actual specs it’s significantly more powerful than the already unbelievably expensive R1. Bonkers.
Looks like at last canon has decided to stop deceiving and depriving it's customers ever since the 5D mark 4. if at all this time it comes really with an 80 px and global shutter canon users will regain hope with canon, but if they again come up with some bogus specs, people who have gone towards Sony and Nikon will never return.
Canon segregated the high MP camera and High Speed cameras, and people just cant process this in their mind coz Sony and Nikon made a High MP camera 🤦♂🤦♂ ask any Nikon Sports shooter who switched from something like D5 or D6 to Z9, how many times they've used that 45mp for high speed action? SPORTS SHOOTERS COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT MP!!

This 14 minute video could have been an email.
As an owner of the Canon 1DsMkII, I must say that the files (RAW) that I shot over the years, since 2005, still impress me today. I am very happy with my R5 and R3, but... would be totslly excited about a R1s, if it were to happen.
Good morning Brian. Did you preorder with the R1 or R5 II?
@@OrdinaryFilmmaker Hi Simon... no, I will wait to see if a "s" series is anounced. If I was going to upgrade it would be the R5mkII at this time, but I am quite happy with both cameras I have right now.
I’ve still got my 1ds…at the time after just getting out of film …it was mind blowing…still takes great shots with low iso….if you’re right here Simon this is my dream camera …still got r5mkii on order tho …thx for sharing
It kinda makes sense in a way . Back in the day Canon would release a 1d ( sports camera) and a 1ds ( studio) camera . Soooo it is possible?
And then new to the scene, 1Dw for wildlife lol
Canon needs their own version of the Sony FX3.
Isn't that the R5C or C70?
It really is the R5C - more expensive, but that's the closest. What Canon is missing is an FX30 version.
R5c, a more complete camera over fx3
@@OrdinaryFilmmaker FX30 Canon alternative would be great.
@@KarlevidProductions R5c might be better all around but the FX3 has ibis and offers a smaller form Factor.
Canon... if I wasn't invested in the glass I would be off to Sony or Nikon, this has just happened because no one is ordering the R1(Rubbish 1)
Glass is a big one isn't it. I have a lot invested there too.
Meanwhile im on the z9 and i keep buging my sales rep when is z9h coming haha
No Z9H. It was supposed to be here in time for the olympics, so we should consider that one dead
From my info nikon will have a fully stacked low mpx camera near the end of the year. Im hoping its a z9 style body
The Rubbish1…. Hahahaha! 😂
Here we go again.
The specifications for the Andrew Reid's R1X seem more like a wish list.
@@karmlol because we will watch it :)
Been thinking that a high resolution R1s would be logical, so, when do You think it will be released....;- ) ;- ) ;- )
Please do a comparison between R1 and R5 MII image wise.
Lmfao let's just blindly trust any random rumors again!
If true, I think this would definitely be an internal leak.
Watch my previous videos on the subject. I pull specs right from the manual ;)
@@OrdinaryFilmmaker I did! I watch all your videos the second they come out (subscribed + bell)
My question is something else though.
As far as flagship is concerned, this R1 should just have had another name or, R3.2.
they should have introduce the R1 as a R3 M2 and wait to be the master everything R1 when they are ready.
so Simon,
should I cancel my pre order for the r5 mk ii ?
the r1x sounds like the camera I've been waiting for.
I would not. Even if the R1X is something, it won't see the light of day until 2025. We don't have any specs and no other validation other than what Andrew has told us.
@@OrdinaryFilmmaker thanks Simon.
good to know that we might not have to wait 4 years til we get some major new tech.
I'm sold my R5 Mk1 on eBay this week and have the R5 Mk2 on order. No R1 in any fashion for me.
not too bothered about High pixels just 45 -60 would be more than enough to crop a global shutter not so sure. and do they need quad pix AF ? may be not a fast Mechanical shutter 16-20 FPS I'll be on the way to pre order it LOL
The market was a bit bigger when we had those different cameras.
Isn’t this what they said when the R3 was introduced? That the true flagship R1 will eat every one and everything?
The 1D cameras had crop sensors (1.3X) and the 1DS cameras had a full frame.
Only the 1D Mark VI was the last. Then Canon came with the 1D X (Mark I, II and II)
The 1DS cameras always had more megapixels than the 1D cameras but less frames per second.
So an EOS R1S could be true. 80 or 100 Megapixels?
Well, there are a couple cameras that you stated had patent registrations earlier this year...just saying 😊
People will start a fight over anything.

Yes, we still have outstanding stills hybrid and cinema cameras due ;)
I have pointed this out many times. The 1 series historically consists of TWO different bodies. Two sensor sizes. So i wouldn't be surprised at all if Canon releases another R1Whatever with a larger sensor.
How can i forget that they can still put an alphabet after the number "1"
I thought after R1 released... "Is that it Canon?" 😂
It's like assuming after version 4.9 we would go to 5.9 instead of 4.10 ;)
I just want an R7ii :(
The original is "ok", but leaves a lot to be desired, especially when I flip between that and the R5...
The R50 is surprisingly small. The MK II should definitely go bigger. Imagine how silly it would look like on the 200-800 ;)
@FraterABYA
The R50, I believe, is roughly the same body as the M50, which is where I came from.

For high resolution am seeing moren a R5S or R5r to follow canon's dslr strategy. We're yet to see the R1C equivalent to the 1DC also
So we had years of waffle about R1 and R5 MkII and before they are even out we are now moving to R1X or R3 MkII.
Or a hastily put together upgrade to quiet the dissenters about the R1..
Hmmm... possible, but any company with a well thought out strategy plan, should have their cameras planned out for years...
Canon come on, we need a monster resolution camera that shoot 8k 120fps and 4k 220fps. I have r5 and R5C so I am not upgrading r5 ii and r1.
8k 120p and 4k 240p??? sure, maybe in mp4 like Canon usually does😂🤣🤣😂😅
Translation: PLEASE, PLEEEEEEEEEEASE DON'T LEAVE CANON FOR ANOTHER MANUFACTURER! Sure, Nikon makes more and better bird cameras and lenses.
I think the Rat Pack between Nikon and RED will produce the master of everything, e.g. Z1 or Z9II.

Now we know your sources....got it from the reflection in your glasses as you were looking down.

No worries, I don't mind people quoting me, e all know where ti came from first ;)
It's time to believe that their dual-pixel and quad-pixel approach is costing them real estate on the sensor, hence they are going with low MP cameras.

Simple answer is: it depends. Depends on what you shoot. Some Pros will answer yes and some will answer no. It's about capabilities and value chains.
The Master of Everything is a Master of Nothing. A bad joke - Made by Canon.
MegaPickles again?
They can’t keep up with the present cameras they need to reconsider
I would like to see a Canon version of the Z9. I think there is a marketplace for it.
Oh please Canon….don’t go Global STUTTER(compromised IQ) route! 😡😤😂
You’re bring the faith back in😘 to the canon community with this new Simon. 🙌🙌🙌💣💥
Snarter than 1000 wedding photographers?! So a videographer
11.1 megapickles
Bonkers.
Looks like at last canon has decided to stop deceiving and depriving it's customers ever since the 5D mark 4. if at all this time it comes really with an 80 px and global shutter canon users will regain hope with canon, but if they again come up with some bogus specs, people who have gone towards Sony and Nikon will never return.
master of everything R0 :D Sorry, this doesn't sound credible..
Canon segregated the high MP camera and High Speed cameras, and people just cant process this in their mind coz Sony and Nikon made a High MP camera 🤦♂🤦♂
ask any Nikon Sports shooter who switched from something like D5 or D6 to Z9, how many times they've used that 45mp for high speed action? SPORTS SHOOTERS COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT MP!!
eoshd. sorry. went wrong so often.
