- When you have someone with a balance issue, whether it is from a post surgical situation or from being sedentary for a while, a great place to start is in the quadruped position. Using a ball can not only provide some support, but it can also create a further stability challenge. Simply lifting the opposite arm and leg will often reveal a stability issue on one side - and that is where you start. Don't miss the opportunity to work up to a plank position as well. However, working on the breathing sequence can also be beneficial. Getting your patient to figure out which breathing sequence works best will allow them to progress more efficiently.
