There is a company I ran across last year online (can't remember the name) that made Hydroponic units especially small units and they had clear or transparent water basins that were made out of a special material that blocks UV rays or sunlight which prevents the growth of Algae. Perhaps this company is using that same process.
AHopeGarden team also saying that they use Special AS material to prevent external light source. I don't know what exactly it mean but hoping that it will prevent light.
Some small fish will eat algae and their poops will feed your vegetables

Currently I'm trying to grow 3 pods of purple basil, 3 pods of cilantro and 1 pod of lavender in this system. All seeds have sprouted and just keep on growing. :) Should i change my light setting from veggie to fruits? Also what light cycle should i use ?
I wonder if hydrogen peroxide would be enough to fight the algae in this.
the water basin looks smoky black transparency. it looks really cool. i cant help but think algae will have a wonderful time blooming nonstop in it. the system looks like it may be better for seed starting without nutrienrs to prevent algae.

Can a small goldfish live in there? Its poop would feed the plants if you are able to feed the fish sometimes. You might also be able to find a fish that eats algae to clean the tank for you while pooping to feed plants.
hmm I, personally, don't risk the life of goldfish as the plants can change the pH levels and we need to monitor it so closely.
Very curious to see if algae is an issue or not. Do you know what the LED wattage is?

@@aerogardenexperiments Yes, thanks! That's very cool that there's no algae problem! I wish it didn't have all those holes in the grow deck though, even if they can be covered, it's kind of a pain.
Algae is what I would be worried about with the clear bowl.

There is no way this prevents algae.
I can't say anything for sure yet, but I am being positive on this system. I need 2 more weeks to make any comments.
