All I can say is that I am over with flat slab phones. Right now folding phones are the future and definitely the zflip4 as a daily driver and the Fold as mini-tablet, productivity and media consumption device.

I love my 'Made in Korea' Bora Purple Z Flip 4.....I've already dropped it once, not even a scratch, built like a tank...Got a Watch 4 Classic for Free...upgraded from an phone 12 mini, the difference in usability is night and day...Couldn't by any more happier...
Same here! I left Apple after they stopped the mini and I am pleased with Z Flip 4! It’s way better experience than the mini.

Thank you for the excellent review. I am also from that flip phone generation that misses the functionality of the closure but didn't want to commit until I was able to get an honest thorough opinion for every aspect that needed to be addressed. This really helped!
I like flip phones too. My favorite was the Motorola Razor. It reminded me of a Star Trek communicator. :-)

I agree for the battery life. I am using the Flip 4 with the battery protection turned on (it tops at 85%) and I am still ending the day with more than 30%. Though i am not a power user. As for the case, i bought Samsung’s transparent case that’s really slim and doesn’t add any bulk, plus I can see the amazing Graphite color all the time.

The biggest issue of this phone is that you can't open it with one hand. I mean it feels like you not supposed to do that. But I love it.

Had a Note 20 ultra and traded up for the Zfold 4. I don't really understand the zflip at least not for myself. But I love having a reasonable sized phone and then a tablet with me at all times. Best device I've ever had. Got it during Samsung days so the upgrade was great!
I have the fold 3 and this year opted to try the flip 4 instead of the fold 4. I do miss the big screen of the fold 3 but man do I love the portability and size of the flip 4. Cameras and battery life are also amazing.
Yes I like the flip better. I came from the fold 3. In the past year or I should say months I had to replace the screen at least 6 times from it cracking everytime i open it. I didn't want to have go through that again if I upgraded to the fold 4
Same here. As much as I loved the fold 3. I love the flip 4 more. Samsung did a great job with this device. Here's to hoping for more and more improvements as time goes by.

@@kyra3937 Shocked at how many times you had to change the screen on your fold phone. I'm curious, is the fold vs flip mechanism so different that something like that wouldn't happen with the flip? I'm very very tempted to get the flip 4 in a couple of months when my current phone installments end but I'm wary of exactly what you've described with your fold phone.
It's about time samsung looked into making a screen in which you can actually see the screen content outside in sunlight! My old kindle had this feature to enable easy reading. Surely this can be applied to a phone.

I got my flip 4 yesterday at Best Buy. I am truly impressed with the jewel like build quality and feel. Highly recommend so far.
The Z Flip 3 was my device of the last year. I saw the Z Flip trade in value for the 3 a year ago and knew it would be worth the price if I could keep it in good shape and trade it in good condition. I did and I ordered a custom 4 with a green back and gold trim for just 150$. I love the fold and can never go back to a slab again.
I also got the green 3 as well. It was a strange color depending on the light. Sometimes it looked more like an ocean green. I also had the same issues with the 3 battery life, the losing 180° flat screen, and I also got air bubbles across the crease under the screen protector
Using the phone less often is also such a great feature but something that's hard to explain and something that Samsung wouldn't market obviously
I love Zflip 4 as a daily driver for all the reason mentioned and the Zfold3- like a mini-tablet for media consumption and some productivity. I don't think I can go back to using ordinary flat slab phones anymore.

I purchased today and so far very happy easy to setup
Close the phone slower it will last longer. Also you can eliminate the case by putting a textured vinyl on both sides of the device. I've had my z flip 3 for over a year and there's been no crease in the screen thus far. I'd never use the camera on this device because I have a DSLR which sends the photos to my device. But for the average user with no DSLR the camera is really lacking. I will say never device housing is a bit stronger than your normal Galaxy. The battery is the most to be desired. I typically end up charging mine towards 11:00 am when listening to news or books on the device via Bluetooth. I think it will be about 40% by that time. Of course I do consume a lot of battery due to the fact I leave always on display on. I just like to be able to look over at a glance and see the time. I'm typically answering text messages during the day as well at work. Anyway I hope this helps some users just treat the device with care and get the most out of what you can aside from the battery.

While funny, it can also be a case of how much you use your phone. I've never had battery anxiety with my flip 3 and haven't done any special tricks like you say. Location sharing is on and I think I use it quite a bit. So YMMV I would say. Heavy users would definitely run out though since I'm usually on low battery in the evening when I plug in.
I have my one plus 9 and I also have my flip 4. Now I had the 3 battery sucked badly. However the hinge never got weak or damaged worked well after a year still. Flip 4 is awesome I'm happy
I loved my flip 3 but the battery was my only major issue with it. I traded my flip 3 in for a flip 4 and got it quite a bit earlier than the official launch. I'm loving the extra battery life, it's so much better. I do usually leave it on light processing mode but I don't notice any loss in performance. I don't take a lot of pictures so I don't mind the camera not being the absolute latest and greatest. I really love my flip 4, it's perfect for me. I look forward to them getting even better with battery capacity and charging, etc.
Does the 4 run hot?, because that's the main repeated complaint i keep hearing and reading about z flip 3.

@@bambi1669 Its not as bad as the flip 3 but it does get a little warm while charging or playing something like genshin impact. It's not hot like the 3 could get but it does get fairly warm if you really push the processor.
@@carth85 have u tried "minor" editing videos? like cutting and attaching, asking cuz i've got a tiktok for my shop and with my current phone it overheats, so bad i have to leave it on the side for an hour or so.
@@bambi1669 I'm sorry I don't use my phone for any kind of video editing but I don't think it would be an issue. You're definitely going to get some heat pushing the SoC but I don't think it will be problematic. Maybe some throttling but it shouldn't become unusable.
Doest it switch to 60hz in light processing mode?

As Z Flip 3 owner for a year I would like to say that the battery life is terrible. I knew it would be and was okay with the compromise. The second biggest compromise for me was the cameras.
Time to step up to the flip 4. The battery life really is a lot better. I got my flip 3 for $700 brand new when it launched and Samsung gave me $900 in tradein credit for it.
I just got one today. I love it!!

How often do you use the phone to say the battery life isn't good on the flip 3? Mine will last the full day and I only charge it to 80 per cent to prolong the battery

u can easily remove the buckle from the leather case. you can use with or without it
Yup you can but you still have that opening that sticks up where the buckle goes under. It ends up adding bulk and feeling even more squishy
Just traded in my fold 3 for the flip 4. Just as you mentioned, my inner screen started breaking. Plus the phone isn't opening up fully. With my luck iam 2 weeks our of warranty. Samsung care wanted almost $300 for a replacement. For a few dollars more I will have a smaller folding phone. Which will be easier to carry.

Get a screen protector he is wrong and reads too much. Everyone I dated has said I'm the best on technology by a mile. I'm a genius. I don't say this maybe a genius there. Cause I'm one out of 3 women.

I've had my flip 4 now for 2 months. I haven't had any battery issues, so far as the crease, it's hardly noticeable if u want it to be.

I honestly never had a problem with the battery life with my Z Flip3 battery life. Now with the 4, I likewise still enjoy the totality of use!
Has anyone noticed accubattery displays the z flip battery as 3300 mah and not the advertised 3700 mah

Well its been a year on the flip 3 and its still going strong. Just a bit of an indent in the crease from opening and closing and its not perfectly straight anymore. But apparently that's normal.
I was very sadenned when my excellent flip 3 suddenly got a broken screen in its fold, black crease and the top stopped responding to touch. After only 4 months and no physical stress. So this loweverd my opinion of its robustness. Thankfully I did get this fixed for free but had to buy a second phone while waiting. I'm afraid it'll suddenly happen again. So something to consider about these fancy foldables.
How long do they take to be fixed?
@@josflorida5346 Took about two weeks for me in Norway. Had to send it to another city, and it got fixed and sent back in the mail. It might be different where you live :)

With major reports of soo many people having screen failures with the z flip series is the reason I didn't buy one. Its inevitable the thin plastic film display will incur dead pixels and/or screen fold yellowing and peeling up. Also screen scar lines and what not.
Much easier for those with small hands to take pictures and videos by holding it in that camcorder style being that the phone is so narrow

thank's for the hinge degradation tip, i was thinking about z fold 4 but now i am confirmed that s23 ultra is better for me because i like my phone to be in pristine condition thi would bother me. nobody did tell that in reviews. my S10+ is still going strong, battery is only trash after almost 4 years
Samsung has already made flippable and foldable phones 4 times at this point, while Apple has still made none. Just shows how behind they truly are without the aid of Steve Jobs!

The aramid case created some marks on my z flip 3, where the adhesive is and it didn't go away. That might me the reason?
The adhesive can be wiped away and most galaxy z flip or fold cases have adhesive. They might just release it later on who knows
@@MatthewMoniz on the silicon cover, I didn't have the issue, but somehow on the aramid and I could not get it cleaned on my black z flip 3. Maybe it was due to the matt black coating and the issue with it. Let's see what Samsung will do, but I am with you, the aramid case was the best one :)
My FLIP3 doesn't have a spine issue. Have been using it for a year now.

Unfortunately, I have to say that the matte finish is still slippery. I got a case on mine for that reason.
Ok here's a question. Where the screen starts to dip over time, does it become a deadzone area where it doesn't respond to touch?
I don't think that would happen because Samsung tested the phone's folding capability out and it should last on average 5+ years before problems start to occur.
My father has had a Zflip 5g for nearly 3 years, and the durability has been good. One tip is to slowly fold and unfold the phone so that it lasts longer. On a day yo day basis, I haven't seen any noticeable dipping

Thinking of switching from an Iphone 11 Pro Max to this, but I am afraid of the software change. Are Samsungs easy to navigate?
From an all time iphone user and just changed to android, took me like couple weeks to get used to but now I like it more than iOS, much better in my opinion.
One UI is one of the better OS Skins for Android in my opinion. Easy One hand use, nice customization, And overall just a pleasing UI

Downside is the hinge is incredibly fragile. Mine broke within 3 months and it was a pain to get Samsung to accept the warranty repair. And I am not the only one. The repair shop told me they are having a bit of an epidemic of Flip 4 broken hinges, and a quick google finds a LOT of reports of broken hinges. I like the phone, but not how fragile the hinge is.
Every year people review phones for their camera not the actual phone...you're buying a phone not a DLSR camera. Its like if the phone is great and feature rich, it will get shit on cause of not so great camera performance.

What is it like making contactless payments?
Quite convenient actually. If you use Samsung Pay, swipe up from cover screen to pay authenticate with fingerprint and the bottom half of the phone is the nfc chip. If you use Google Pay, you can use cover screen launcher in Good Lock by Samsung to launch Google Pay, abit more inconvenient. You can of course also pay the normal way as you would on a phone by opening it but remember nfc at bottom half of flip

1. You have smaller pockets and a standard slab phone protrudes or makes sitting squatting uncomfortable
2. Would prefer a easy one handed use
3. Likes the Flex Mode feature to have a stand
4. Wants to check your phone less.

The battery life on the flip 3 is awesome. I've had it since it came out and I have never ran the battery down in one day. My daughter watched 2 movies while we were camping on my phone and it still had 40% the next day without charging. So a full day of using it myself, and watching movies, still running most of the next day. I would say that's pretty good. Keep your condescending lies to yourself

@@bwnco well, after our ATV excursions we spend the evening swimming and boating on the lake before dinner. Most times we have a campfire until it's her bedtime. Since my wifi is not strong enough to span the 140 kms from my house to the trailer, I let my daughter watch movies/shows on my phone with unlimited data. Perhaps I should let her roam the woods in the dark 10:30 at night instead of going to bed and watching a movie before she goes to sleep? Good grief 😔

Okay so do I been an Android user for many years and don't get my wrong because galaxy flip is a cool toy however when it comes to practical needs iPhone SE and cellular iPad are the best value. The equation is based on the philosophy on price,value and efficiency which translates into profit. iPhone SE has the same premium quality of a iPhone pro Max and what it lacks in feature is compensated with efficiency which equals profit. Split screen on a iPad is more profitable for power users whom use iCloud on a regular basis and already carry a brief which an iPad air or MacBook air can easily fit without adding too much extra weight or sacrifing too much space that would justify the expensive foldable smartphone in a suit pocket. The infinity screen is nice but when comes to nitty gritty the retra wins especially when it comes to fine print and people will bad eye sight because it's about the quality of the pixel not just the pixel count.
If I wanted value I would get a Xiaomi
