- HOW TO MAKE A PINBALL MACHINE: Finally playtesting the dang thing!
WOOHOO!! We finally get the completed playfield back into the cabinet for playtesting! We adjust the wireform ramp return and get the wiring inside the cabinet squared away with new connectors and then power it up! We also then spend a bit of time getting the config file setup to start a simple game.

Thanks for watching!!! I hope you found this helpful or interesting - if you did, please like and subscribe and even share this so other pinheads can find this series of videos.
As always, give me some feedback on what you liked and didn't like about this video - if there's anything you'd like me to cover in more detail, lmk!!!
If you haven't already, I challenge you to start building your own pinball machine, cuz why not!?! - Навчання та стиль
the talk about coil balancing was great. I'll make a note of it when I start mine again.
Steve, just wanted to say thanks for sharing the whole process, it's looking great! I am planning on doing a table build soon, and I will be putting together a video series of the process as well. I'll be sure to share once I get started!
Awesome!! Can't wait to see your project!!
So Awesome!!! A big congrats to your effort to get this going! Can't wait to see it in the northwest show.
Hi Steve !
What a pleasure to see your pinball in action !
It's a Big milestone.
Time for coding now !
Pinball convention is comingso fast...
I wish you the best.

GREAT JOB STEVE! Long journey for you and SO much problem solving along the way. Great flow to your game. Congrats from Canada!
Thank you!! This is like the half way point 🤣 so much more to do but thanks for following along! Stay tuned for more progress videos
You should sell diy instructions step by step to make this. I’d buy it
I enjoy these long in depth videos on all the details of making a pin.
Layout is looking sick Steve.
Well done!👍I would also like to see a pure gameplay video with a top-down perspective at some point, if you have time to make one.
Yes! I definitely will make you one! I still need to get some more things configured in the software first tho - I need to get the diverter working, the drop targets resetting etc, etc but I promise I will!!
Few things to help. Get a torch to anneal those hard steel rods. It will allow you to bend the rod. Second, go to your nearest welding shop and ask to look at their stainless tig rod. Flexible, local and cheap for the time wasted waiting for stuff from China.
It flips! Congrats!
Awesome work !!!
amazing work dude!!! Congrats!
Incredible!
fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE it !!!!!
You might want to bring extra 3D printed plastics with you to the show in case they get broken!
Looking great, I’ll be at the show and can’t wait to try it in person.
If you need MPF help, let me know. I’ve contributed a few features to MPF so I might be able to help you out.
yeah, I've been printing extra pieces figuring that at least one will break, and likely several, haha - Thanks for the offer with MPF, I just might hit you up on that! I need help getting my stepper motor to be correctly controlled for the staircase to work :/
Looks cool. Love these videos
Rad to see MPF running a game and you flipping the shots, congrats! That sideramp looks fun to hit from the upper flipper!
Now I just need to get the stepper motor configured properly!
This is like a shopping mall layout with escalator.
Amazing!
Hey Steve is that pop bumper working
No the switch wasn't registering I've got it working again since tho
Hi Steve. Your bill of materials shows that you purchased a Stern metal apron but I see that you're using a plastic apron here. On my homebrew I purchased a metal apron but I don't think I can make it work with the Stern style playfield hangers as the slots don't line up. I have a Williams style lockdown bar receiver like you. I also used the CNC file you have on your public Google docs. The way the playfield is cut I'm unable to mount the Stern style playfield hangers to have it line up with the slots in the metal apron.
@SG25 Hey, I'm so sorry that the fusion file for the lower third up on my drive was out-dated. I have since switched to using a modern stern lock-down bar and receiver, so I've changed the edge of the playfield to accommodate the playfield hangers. I know you already cut out some playfields using the older file, but if you want to use a modern stern metal apron, you're going to need to use my newer file that will allow you to connect the playfield hangers in the right spots to line up with the metal hanger - which also means you'll need to switch to the modern stern receiver as well. :( I'm very sorry for this - I tried to share my files as I went along, but I iterated and changed things a LOT along the way - I'm on whitewood #8 I believe right now, haha.
I would recommend switching to my newer file that I just uploaded to my drive and working from that.
@@thepinballroom thanks Steve. I'm gonna push ahead as is I think. The old file, do you think it's just a matter of me slicing 1" off the top to make it 45" or it's not that simple?
@@SG25 yeah I did exactly that on my first whitewood, just trim it
Hey, you can email me at thepinballroom@gmail.com if you have any other questions, ok?
Eye protection!!
But hey, why not add something that adds points to that chute where the diverter leads to the wireform? A gate or something?
yeah, I considered that, but was able to get it working great with the latest version of the plastic that holds the diverter.
@@thepinballroom Maybe after the show then
@@Agent505 I am going to add a switch on the right ramp in time for the show - so that will be used to track ramp shots and also to control the diverter - is that what you are referring to?
@@thepinballroom Yes, but here's the thing - I'm thinking its important for the machine to know there's a ball there, and also like some classic pinball games - Pinbot, High Speed, others - where just about any action earns the player points, and a spinner or some other device there would track the shots but also earn points for the player - sounds like you've already considered it?
@@Agent505 yeah, I've thought about it a little, I think just having the one switch should be enough to track where the ball is and count for points too, we'll see
That's cool that you can get farther up the stairs than just one step at a time. How about a ramp to enable players to get farther up the ramp? Or a launcher like on Big Guns!
