After a lifetime on bikes travelling all over Europe, I moved from Bristol to Wales, and recently downsized to a TRK502. All of my previous rides were with friends, but I have now discovered the joys of solo biking. No one to keep up with, no one behind to check that they know where we turned off. Stop where I want, admire the views, ride at my own pace. I should have done it that way years ago. You are right about the Kamikaze sheep, they appear from nowhere all over the place. I had to spend a bomb on fencing to keep them from munching their way through my garden!
Really appreciate you sharing that. My preference is solo riding for exactly the reasons you state. Occasionally I do like the change of a 3 bike ride out or a pillion rider on the back. But ultimately the freedom to go by yourself, where you want, how & at what pace is invigorating. I once had to cut a ride short as a mate that was with me on the Towcester Loop had to get back for his poorly cat! Enjoy those Welsh Roads! I've just come back from a Lake District Tour, posting 2 vid's tomorrow, absolutely awesome ride & avoided all the sheep & a herd being moved over a public road!
@@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips Towcester? Do you know Stoke Bruerne? The Navigation pub used to be my Grandfathers house, then my uncle Major Jack took over the farm, it was where my dad grew up. Used to go on family visits there as a child.
@@VisorView Padt of the Towcester Loop passes the other side of the A43 to Navigation Pub, J just checked Google maps. So not far! Small world! The Towcester Loop is a local route for me as its in the midlands.
Suddenly I came on your channel and immediately subscribed. I really enjoy driving around in Wales. It's been a few years now but I'll be back next year. Grtz, from Belgium.
Hi Mc Fermulen, welcome aboard! Yes Wales is a special place, beautiful scenery, fantastic roads without a lot of traffic, especially off season, so it makes for a good destination. I'll be heading there again too next year! Thank you for your kind comments.
Awesome vids! My brother and I have just passed our tests and and purchased royal Enfield interceptors, we are planning on making wales our first tour, thanks very much for the detailed information and great photography 😊
Mike really appreciate your kind comments, its great the vids have helped u plan your trip with ur brother on the Interceptors. Your going to have a great tour, honestly, with little traffic, amazing scenery & twisties, u also get to go with your brother so cherish the time u get together. The Vids show a fraction of the tour so imagine how much more enjoyment your going to get! 👍. Let me know how the tour went when u get back & any tips u can add. Regards, Daz.
Thanks Jo, I really appreciate your appreciative comment. Yes, this time of year is only good for looking & planning tours & checking out places to go. I decided to do a winter ride although I went late October last year to Gran Canaria to ride around that island. (That video might cheer you up too 😁 👍).
Hi there fellow biker, welcome, thank you so much for taking the time to make a positive comment. it's work in progress I guess but pleased you like it. We do have a lot of choice in the UK actually, a cheap air b&b or camp & several routes are all reachable. Stay safe to you too Down4First, thank's again 👍
Wow! Small world AJ! Yes was a reasonably ride out today but a lot of traffic I reckon due to the rail strikes. Yes definitely have a crack at sorting all your footage out of track time, lock yourself in a dark room for a few days & get creative! Loved you're GS 40 year edition btw
@@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips yeah it’s a great colour scheme. What do you use for editing your vids I used just load up off my GoPro but now I’ve got a drift with it all loaded on a hard drive.
@@frodoadventures I'm using Shotcut free editing software. Relatively user friendly although I have to watch the 'how to' guides to begin with. The larger you're processor on your lap top or PC will help prevent any lagging.
Wales is a great place to ride. We came back down through Wales on the way back from Scotland, Llanberis is spectacular. My mate decided to throw his z750 at the wall down through there 🙄 Great video, subbed 👍
Ouuchhh!! Hope he was ok?? There are such stunning roads & you can build up momentum on them without even seeing another vehicle for a while. A bikers paradise 👌
@@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips He was fine thanks, the bike not so fine. He had to be brought home on a breakdown lorry. Absolutely bad luck on his part as 5 of us had gone through that corner just seconds before him without problem. He just happened to catch something that lost him his grip and that was that. He's been back and ridden it again without incident, so he's put that one to bed now🤣🤣
@@tojj29 crikes, its weird isn't it sometimes you get a twitch on the back end & its unsettling especially when you don't see anything entering the bend. I recall that happening up on the mountain section on my recent trip to Gran Caneria 😱 . Whether a bit of dropped oil or fuel? Sometimes there's nothing you can do, really pleased your buddy was ok though 👍 & yes revisiting that bend puts to bed any fears. Then we ride on 😁👍
Thanks Dave O, I'm glad you got to experience it too. I'm just putting together the rest of the footage of which contains the Black Mountain Pass over the Black Mountain. Thanks for the comment :)
Although I found it a bit short, I enjoyed it. One criticism, you carry your monopod sticking out of the rucksack point upwards, and all the way thro' the video all I could think of was Micheal Schumachers accident, he landed on the Gopro which was on the top of his helmet and it was pushed thro' the helmet into his brain. I appologise for the graphics but that point is not far from the back of your neck. Ride safe.
Glad you enjoyed it Richard. That's an interesting point you make & potentially one I will rectify for my own benefit if I have my roll bag on the back thanks!
Yeah it has some super roads & little commercial traffic enabling us bikers to enjoy 😉 . Yes I thought the same 40mph on the Black Mountain! I spoke to a couple of locals at the top car park they simply replied not all go 40!

great vid thanks. whats the map book you use ?
Thanks Martin, its called 'Bikers Britain' 2nd edition by Simon Weir. He use to be the editor of 'Bike' magazine.

I’m off to zip world in a few weeks but for the downhill mountain biking, not the zip wires! Looking forward to part 2
You'll enjoy that Craig, part 2 is out tonight which contains the zip wire experience, check it out!

Love Wales, great scenery, friendly locals, but 40 mph on a deserted mountain... the authorities really are miserable there.
