I kept them in the early 90’s, in a 29 as breeders with no other fish. They are fantastic parents and very beautiful. I saturated the local market with F1 fry, they are productive.
It took me about a year to find these guys. I've had some for about 3 months and have ended up with a pair. Currently there are 6 of the Cryptoheros, snakeskin and turquoise discus, L-002 pleco, and 9 cory cats in a 65 gallon. So far everyone gets along and have not had any extreme bullying. Although the pair is only a couple inches long. Getting ready for more plants and C02 system. Very entertaining species!
Love these fish, they were my first cichlids. They did everything you said including breed in the community tank that held an Oscar, Severum and a Firemouth pair. They managed to keep the fry alive for the 2 days whilst I purchased/set up a breeding tank. Best fish ever!
I must say, I really enjoyed this upload for the scape as much as for the species info. You did an awesome job on that 40 gallon. I almost believed you filmed out in the wild😉.
Took your suggestions on what to put in my knew 60 I was getting got a T Bar and did a community tank. The tank turned out amazing thanks for suggesting them. Love the video. Thanks again
I would love to see a care guide for your multisponosa. I inherited two and a Dempsey when a friend passed away. Ever since I upgraded them to a 55 one of the multisponosa keeps chasing the other. I've added rocks and dither fish it seemed to get worse after adding the extra rock. I havent found much on them and you are so knowledgeable I'd love to hear what to have to say about these awesome fish.
Very nice fish, I have a community tank with a bunch if tetras and loaches and one Electric Blue Acara. I wonder if I can add one of these to the tank ? Its a 125gal will be upgrading to a 220 soon.
What are your thoughts on keeping the T bar in a large community tank with say electric blue acara or keyhole cichlids and tiberia yellow rainbowfish? (75 gallon to 120 gallon ) just one male?
That could work. Might have a little trouble with the keyhole only because I have found the more similar a fish looks to one another the more aggression they show (at least when it comes to certain cichlids).
I finally found one! 🎉I’m very excited because I’ve been looking since your 40 breeder centerpiece video! Do you think substrate color (dark/light) matters with these guys?
I had 2 juvies and the bigger one of the 2 was downright nasty with the smaller one would chase the lil one for multiple rounds around the tank. Good thing is that they aren't aggressive with other cichlids or any other tetras
Would it really do well and be happy as a solo specimen in a community tank? Internet seems to say keep in pairs or groups. I am planning a 200l (just under 55 us gallon) community with a pair of apistogramma, corydoras and bigger type of tetra. I want a "bigger" centrepiece fish but concerned about a pair. Internet is very contrary on this.
Could i keep them with a scalare too? I have a 75 gallon with tetras, corys and 2 scalares and i want a sajica but i dont know if that would go well together
Can i hold 1 in a 1,20m? On the internet people say 1,80 is the minimum. And should I have cherry shrimps in the same tank because now I have around 100 (or more) Bloody Mary shrimp with a l-066 and 2 l-134 with 15 White Cloud Mountain minnow and some otosinclus. But I want to upgrade my juwel 125 to a juwel 240. (Sorry for my English I’m 16 and from the Netherlands.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics wow thanks for the quick response! I saw another vid of you with the cryptoheros nanoluteus is that a better choice or will he also murder al my shrimps😅😂
Was considering getting one for my 75 gallon planted community tank. Have you had any issues with them bothering plants? I’ve got some crypts, s. Repens. Anubias. Also have a sand substrate.
I have a 40g with 1 male keyhole and 1 female cacatuoides apisto. I want to add another larger fish. Would a sajica work? I can move the apisto if necessary.
Hi!! Can i remove the fry? Will that help with the aggression? Because i have a 90 gal with a lot of cichlids and the sajicas are in the breeding process so they are aggressive
Just added a male to my 420 liter paludarium/aquarium. it's filled like 3/4 because my main focus are still the fish. Really wonder if I should add a female someday. Would be great to see them breed but I also have a relatively large pleco. I wonder if this would be problematic with the sajica's trying to fight the big pleco away while breeding. Guess the big pleco wouldn't allow that lol
i have this chiclid. This pair just won't stop breeding! And i have nobody to give the babys to. i think i can't do anything to stop them from having litter after litter? I have them in a community tank, this pair hated each other in the beginning. Is the only possibility to sell them when my now a week old litter is a bit bigger and older? is their a possibility to just keep two females? Would be nice just to keep two females to not give up this beautiful fish completly I have a tank a bit over 90 gallons but this pair is really protective and the other fish are a bit unease.
They can be prolific breeders! : -) The easiest thing to do is try to get rid of the fry (sell them off), which I'm sure will be a pain in a 90 gallon and remove either the male or female to another tank or trade one in at the pet store. They are pretty fish though!
Nice Video! I have one question, some of them are more colorfull and some are darker, i like the darker ones much more! Are These different types? Or male an female? Or are they switching their apperence? Greetings from Germany :)
They change color depending on their status within the group, substrate, age and breeding status. It's actually kind of cool! If you want them to stay on the darker side sometimes a darker substrate helps. Appreciate you watching!
Mine have now bread and have killed my Blue Acara and 1 of my firemouths had to remove my second firemouth they are now in a 4ft tank on there own will there be anything I could put in with them as there killing my chchlids .. also would I be able to keep some of the Fry or will they fight
If they are breeding and protecting fry, it's probably best to leave them on their own. The fry should get along fine until they mature into adults and starts breeding themselves. However, if your pair breeds again, the fry may be in danger.
My L.F.S has these & I know of someone who is selling his but they don't look colourful so I'm not too sure. How big do they get? I know I want Rams, will these go with them?
They may be able to go with rams if the tank is large enough. Maybe 55-75 gallons minimum is about what I would feel comfortable with. They can get about 6" or so.
