Many years ago when my daughter was attending public school in Hawaii Kai I took my daughter out of public school & homeschooling her.
I did that as well in California all my kids when they hit middle school they did home school all graduated Ayear early. I drove school bus for years and thing were getting bad 20 years ago.

@@kriscastner2010 They set minimal education standards so there is a least a baseline. Some states set higher standards mostly blue. Some states set lower standards mostly red but they can't go below that line in math reading and writing and receive federal funding.

I bet most people don't even know what the US Department of Education does. It really doesn't do anything that really is tangible. It's number one role is supposed to manage federal financial aid, but financial aid would still chug along fine without the ED.

I would also like to see private teachers teaching in public schools. I would also like to see schools teach daily life skills needed in the real world.
You do realize it's not like the government issues teachers to public schools and doesn't allow private teachers to work there, right? It's just that public schools budgets don't allow for competitive wages; private schools can pay better so there is generally not much incentive for a private school teacher to go teach in public schools.
