Ime 61 have been playing golf off and on for nearly 40 years .At this moment in time I have paralysis by analysis after watching countless videos on the Internet, that was the best most informative video I've seen ime going to reboot my game clear my mind and start enjoying playing golf again thanx keep up the good work
HI i am a young fit 71 years and started to play, try to learn how to play golf 18 months ago, I had my best round 9 hole 2 weeks ago 48 ha but thats not consistent and yesterday I went out with a couple of younger friends and honestly by the the time they filled my head with the first 51 seconds of your video, HONESTLY!! it felt like I never lifted a club or hit a ball before, I didn't know what I was doing and was no longer able to do anything with the ball because all the things they were saying to me. I will now watch the rest of this video after watching the 51 seconds a dozen times because it is so so true. Thanks Tom
As you are fond of saying, "Brilliant!". I found myself actually watching the club in the backswing to see face position and shaft plane completely ignoring the ball. I now only swing at the ball with the thought of hitting it where it needs to Go! My body reacts properly and the swing releases. Thank you for your wisdom.
This is great stuff! Our problem (or at least mine is) we become ball bound, become too focused on the ball itself. The real key is not to focus on the ball with hitting it in mind, when we swing freely and the ball just happens to be in the way of the swing and good things will happen. The problem seems we mentally feel this type of action feels out of control and on the course we are not willing to risk it, so we revert to control of the swing and want to place the club head in a precise place through manipulation of our hands and body. Marcus is spot on , we need to learn through practice to let go of the manipulation and just let the natural swing and forces of gravity do the job for us, sadly modern golf instruction tells us to place body parts here, there and everywhere and it messes up the natural flow. If I lived in England instead of Canada I'd go for a lesson with him in a heartbeat. However these great videos give us a blueprint to follow, so at least we know what to try and do. Many Thanks. Mike.
Marcus, this is your best video yet. What a fantastic way of explaining the golf swing and the constraints we put on ourselves. We have to be free to fully swing without trying to steer the club or being afraid to let go. Thanks so much. Cheers
Thanks for the KEY POINT.... I've heard you say these exact words to others during their lessons but for some reason it Registered "TODAY". I guess it felt like you were speaking directly to me. IDK but Thanks. Can't wait to Explore without Reservations and Expectation Thoughts. For Me, Best Vid ever.....
You and Mike Malaska's instruction on instinctive movement in the golf swing is spot on. It's interesting though how many teachers say it, but if you had a student, even a gifted athlete, if they had never seen a golf club or a golf swing and gave them the task of hitting the ball to a target how they would do it?? It wouldn't be good I think. So how do we deprogram our minds to complete the task after years of playing?
It amazing! I have been playing on and off for 20 years. This last year watching this channel, I have had more more improvement than the last 19 years. Can "aim" in 3 different directions and still hit the almost exact same shot
Young man....... thank you for introducing what professional athletes have internalized at an early age. The movement of the body starts with if you will a rhythm, an energy. It is a natural motion your body develops, when knowing the object8ve. Hence why so many different swings on tour. Thank you for sharing your perspective.
Really great stuff Marcus. What are your thoughts on staying “connected “. I know you don’t think about it but as I watch your swing it seems pretty connected without thinking about it. Keep up the great content Thanks
The concept behind being "connected" as they say is everything working in unison. But in order for all working parts to form a sequence everything must perform its job in isolation, to then be integrated together in a functional sequence so really it depends on how you interpret the term. I'm not a huge fan of it as from what I've seen generally it encourages golfers to swing like a block!
Could be your best individual video yet Marcus 👍⛳ For those viewing and trying to take something away from this video; the only way to fully 100% get this to suit you, is to go get the lesson in person! Highly, highly recommended! ✅
We need sway in the back swing and down swing. Rotation can give the illusion that there isn't much sway in the swing but in reality we need lots of it 👍
Unfortunately, the difference is one of importance, when I'm on the range or hitting into a net, it doesn't really matter if I hit it cleanly or not, I've got another dozen or so balls to hit; however, on the course, I have one chance to get it right, that puts a lot of tension into your swing. Two years ago, I bought a net for the garden, I got my wife to video me, perfect, every ball went smack into the net and would have gone miles down the fairway but, actually on the fairway is a different matter, it is really difficult to just let yourself go and swing but when I do, the outcome is impressive, unfortunately, I can't maintain it.
As an addition, it does work, I had 4 lessons a few weeks ago, the usual, start your swing like this, then parallel to... you know the rest, none of it worked, then, when playing as usual one day, I just thought 'F' it, walked up to the ball totally relaxed and hit it, the result...perfect and I continued to do so, I can't say it works every game but, it is a work in progress.
I tried golf about 25 years ago for a year and failed dismally. I restarted a few months ago and I’m definitely better due to technology like the internet. BUT…. After going to the range several times a week, hitting thousands of balls and several lessons, nothing has changed. I’ve adopted all the corrections for hitting the ball consistently, but nothing has changed. I top the ball and I hit it fat. When I do hit it correctly 3-5 times out of ten, I’m getting 100-120 yards with a 6 iron. I’m not asking much, I’d just love to get 150 yards with a 6 iron more consistently. I just don’t see how it’s going to come. Maybe I’m just one of those people that is just crap at golf, because I just don’t know what that feel is despite adopting the correct moves and drills.
@@GRFGolf No the best I got was 148 on August 10th. The usual is around 110 -120. My PW is around 80 but I’ve had 104. The rest of the clubs are between these ranges. I have no consistency, I’ve been working a lot on trying to find what it’s supposed to “feel” like. I’ve worked every day on drills and making sure I don’t overload my brain on the range, as per your video here. What’s most frustrating is when I do hit a good shot, I fail to see what was different about that shot. I’ve even took videos of myself on the range and don’t see what’s different between a good hit and a bad one. I do believe it’s just the way I’ll be as my sense of feel isn’t great. Thanks for the reply by the way. I do enjoy watching your videos.
It’s clear something is way off. I keep hearing how to get my distances takes very little effort, but I’m really having to go at the ball hard. I’m only doing short half/three quarter swings as full is a disaster and I never hit the ball properly on a full swing. The best swing speed I can get is only 70mph

Well said Mike, appreciate you sharing 👍
nailed it
This is soooooo good!
Thanks, Marcus that was a great video and I am sure that it will have helped everyone who gets the opportunity to watch it👍

Love it. Keep it up Marcus. So much better than most lessons I’ve ever had. The explanation is clear and direct.

Fully booked this year but got 2 places left on my intensive golf coaching trip on the 22nd November in Turkey!

Amazing! Thanks again for all the useful content. So different with more practical advice to improve movements rather than focusing on p1 etc 🤣
The golf swing is a movement, not a position, after all 👍
How would you go about practicing if you couldn’t make it to the range and you wanted to work on this?
Just use the tennis ball cut in half at home for the time being, it's great sensory feedback, do what you can with the time/facilities you have!
What an amazing golf video. It gets rid of all that confusion and noise. Well done yet again Marcus
Thanks, Andy!
Probably the best swing coach in the world #Carlsberg#Marcus
Great video as always Marcus
Thank you 🙏
Can anyone help me with the downswing sequence please, I keep slicing when as my club face seems wide open. Thanks in advance
Sorry impossible to say without seeing you're swing. All my lessons are normally in person.
Really good advice!
Appreciate it, Barry

how to eliminate sway for back swing...
We need sway in the back swing and down swing. Rotation can give the illusion that there isn't much sway in the swing but in reality we need lots of it 👍
I feel if I go left with my body I swing over the top
Might be possible your club is bottoming out too soon! Have you tried shifting your low point forward?
